Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus & Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV-AIDS) is one of the global health problems whose number of sufferers continues to increase every year. A person diagnosed with HIV-AIDS will experience various reactions, such as feelings of fear, regret, trying to deny it, depression, confusion and not knowing what to do. Therefore, getting support from their families helps them to develop themselves. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of family support for people with HIV-AIDS in KDS Dahlia. This research is descriptive quantitative. The sample of this study was 77 families of people with HIV-AIDS assisted by KDS Dahlia with a total sampling technique. Data collection used a questionnaire which was analyzed univariably. The results showed that family support in the form of emotional support for people with HIV-AIDS in the poor category was 16.9% and in the good category was 83.1%, family support in the form of instrument support for people with HIV-AIDS in the less category was 31, 2% and in the good category at 68.8%, family support in the form of information support for people with HIV-AIDS in the less category of 33.8% and the good category at 66.2%, family support in the form of reward support for people with HIV-AIDS in the poor category was 16.9% and in the good category was 83.1%. Conclusion: The overall description of family support for people with HIV-AIDS can be categorized as good.

Abstract

Teen sexual behavior is any behavior that is driven by sexual desire either committed themselves, with the opposite sex or same-sex marriage in the absence of religion law. Regional Public Hospital of Kalabahi’s data found that in 2017, 10 teenagers had sexual before marriage. Factors that encourage teens women committing deviant sexual behavior due to the lack of knowledge about sexual behavior, positive attitude toward sexual behavior as well as access to social media on adolescent sexual behavior. The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship of knowledge, attitudes and social media access with the sexual behavior of adolescent women in SMA Negeri 1 Kalabahi 2017. Type of this research was an analytical survey using cross-sectional technique. The population in this research consisted of 218 woman student in SMA Negeri 1 Kalabahi. The sample in this study was 140 students selected by using simple random sampling. The results of the analysis suggested that knowledge (p-value = 0.000), attitude (p-value = 0.000), and access to social media (p-value = 0.000) were associated with sexual behavior in adolescent women in SMA Negeri 1 Kalabahi 2017. Education to increase knowledge among female teens about teen sexual behavior as well as establishing related rules for social media access in school are necessary.

Abstract

This study aims to map the spread of stunting cases based on the availability of clean water. This study used descriptive method to see the frequency of disease by place using Geographic Information System (GIS). The population in this study was children under five years diagnosed with stunting. All population was sampled (total sampling) with a total of 119 cases. The results showed that stunting spread throughout the work area of Bati Primary Health Care (PHC) with the availability of 67 water sources. Most widely used sources were wells (46 in total) and located in areas with an altitude of >1000 meters above sea level. Intensive government stunting efforts are necessary as stunting is a nutritional health issue prioritized in the National Medium-Term Development Plan period 2019-2024. Improving the education of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) for the community and strengthening commitment and cooperation with relevant parties are required to address the problem of adequate nutrition intake, and water supply in the community.

Abstract

Kupang District is ranked 5 with the highest number of infant mortality in East Nusa Tenggara Province. The total infant mortality 86 and 96 cases in 2018 and 2019, respectively. The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk factors influencing infant mortality in West Kupang Subdistrict. This study used a case-control study design and the respondents were mothers who had babies aged one year old in 2020 with a sample size of 42 people. Data collection used a questionnaire from each variable under the study. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test to see the OR value in order to determine the risk of exposure. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between maternal age during pregnancy (OR= 351; p= 0.000), socioeconomic status (OR= 10.8; p= 0.006) birth weight (OR= 8.2; p= 0.005), premature abnormalities (OR=36; p= 0.000), parity (OR= 5.4; p=0.033), congenital diseases or disorders (OR= 6.6; p=0.000), birth spacing (OR= 8.3; p=0.008), participants in the family planning program (OR= 7.5; p=0.01), antenatal check-up (OR= 8.3; p=0.008), delivery complications (OR= 15; p= 0.000 ), husband's support (OR= 3.8; p= 0.01) with infant mortality. Education and information communication strategies should be improved to create behavior supporting the health of pregnant women and to prevent infant mortality.

Abstract

The coverage of antenatal care (ANC) at Sei Primary Health Care is still low. In 2018, the coverage of the first visit (K1) was 64% and the coverage of the fourth visit (K4) was 45% with 3 cases of maternal mortality. In 2019, K1 coverage was 68% and K4 coverage was 59%. This study aims to analyze the factors related to the ANC behavior in pregnant women in the work area of Sei Health Center, South Central Timor Regency. This type of research was an analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 181 mothers who gave birth in January - September 2020. The sample of 60 mothers was selected by applying simple random sampling using the Slovin formula to determine the sample size. Data analysis used a chi-square test. The result found that age (p-value=0.033), knowledge (p-value=0.000), family support (p-value = 0.023), socio-cultural (p-value = 0.000), and house distance (p-value=0.041) were associated with ANC behavior. Parity (p-value=0.155) and work (p-value = 0.365) were unrelated to ANC behavior. Health workers in the work area of Sei Health Center (midwife/health promoter) need to increase health education about the importance of antenatal care visits and disseminate the information through leaflets to increase the knowledge of pregnant women.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pengetahuan tentang penularan HIV dan AIDS merupakan salah satu faktor remaja memiliki perilaku berisiko. Pengetahuan tentang HIV yang buruk telah mempengaruhi persepsi yang buruk juga terhadap orang yang terinfeksi HIV seperti stigma. Pengetahuan dan persepsi menjadi faktor penting untuk mempersiapkan remaja dalam melindungi diri dari infeksi HIV. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bagaimana pengetahuan dan persepsi siswa tentang HIV dan AIDS. Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian dilakukan di SMAN 2 Kupang. Teknik purposive sampling digunakan untuk mendapatkan besar sampel sebanyak 142 siswa yang diperoleh dari seluruh kelas sebelas Hasil: Siswa yang memiliki pengetahuan HIV dan AIDS yang baik sebanyak 63 siswa (44,4%) dan persepsi yang baik sebanyak 68 (47,9%). Kesimpulan: Perlu adanya intervensi untuk memperbaiki pengetahuan dan persepsi siswa terkait dengan penularan, pencegahan, pengobatan dan persepsi tentang HIV dan AIDS.

Abstract

People living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) are at risk of having low antibodies that can cause comorbidities such as Tuberculosis (TB) and other diseases. For this reason, this study aims to describe health literacy and self-stigma of PLWHA. This type of research was quantitative with a descriptive design. The sample size was 50 people living with HIV infected with TB, selected using total population sampling. Data collection by using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the characteristics of respondents based on age were mostly in the category of more than 31 years (62%), male gender (54%) and self-employed/farmer/fishermen (60%). The majority of PLWH are male, aged above 30 years, have a self-employed job and a high school education above. Health literacy about HIV and TB is mostly in the poor category and self-stigma in the high category. For this reason, it is necessary to improve communication, information and education for PLWHA to improve health literacy and reduce self-stigma.Keywords: health literacy; self stigma; HIV and AIDS

Abstract

Maternal mortality is still a major problem in East Flores District . Therefore, this study aimed to explain the risk factors of maternal mortality. This type of research was qualitative study with a phenomenological approach. Main informant was coordinator and village midwifes. Data triangulation was carried out on the head of the health center and the MCH manager at the district health office. Data were collected through in-depth interview and analyzed with content analysis. The results showed that the factors of maternal mortality were maternal health conditions, low K4 visits, expensive transportation costs to health facilities, more priority in handling health problems in traditional and spiritual ways and delays in referrals to health facilities. For the supervision of MCH services carried out not in accordance with the guidelines. Some of the reasons found were because midwives had not received training related to the implementation of supervision, lack of budget, decree and feedback. Conclusion: The need to improve the skills of midwives in supervising MCH for efforts to improve the quality of maternal health services.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that influence premarital sexual behavior in adolescents and the influence of these factors on adolescent behavior in Alok District and Bola District. The method used is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach to 104 adolescents determined proportionally by random sampling. Data analysis used a simple logistic regression test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.021; OR = 3,286), religious level understanding (p = 0.020; OR = 6.718), family roles (p = 0.000; OR = 7,192), peers (p = 0.031; OR = 9.444) and sources of information (p = 0.030; OR = 9.874) on premarital sex behavior in adolescents, while cultural factors had no relationship (p = 0.069; OR = 0.468). In conclusion, there is an influence between knowledge, understanding of the level of religion, the role of family, peers and sources of information on premarital sex behavior in adolescents.
