Abstract

Oesapa Health Center is a health center that has the highest number of dengue cases in Kupang City in 2019 and spread throughout the Puskesmas working area. Regional-based disease management analysis techniques using spatial analysis can be used to facilitate the determination of the DHF problem solving intervention program. Spatial analysis is used to determine the pattern of disease spread and potential areas of dengue transmission based on area. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of dengue delivery, the spread of dengue incidence based on population density, the House Index and Container Index and the buffer. This type of research is a descriptive survey with a case study design. The sampling technique used total sampling with 98 people. The results of spatial analysis using Quantum GIS show the distribution pattern of dengue incidence with Clustered pattern with NNI value of 0,60 <1, the entire work area of Oesapa Health Center is included in the category of high population density, House Index and Container Index with the highest incidence of DHF in Oesapa and Lasiana Subdistrict and buffer analysis shows the tendency of dengue disease transmission in most cases to occur within a 100 meter radius, so the Oesapa Community Health Center work area is a high risk area for dengue transmission. Mosquito Nest Eradication Activities can be carried out by the community to prevent the spread of dengue disease.

Abstract

Background: Fit-to-fly recommendations for pregnant women are regulated in Indonesia’s civil aviation guidelines. Noncompliance may pose health risks for both mother and fetus during air travel. This study aimed to identify factors associated with pregnant women’s compliance with fit-to-fly recommendations at El Tari Airport in 2024.Subjects and Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January to March 2024 at El Tari Airport, Kupang. A total of 130 pregnant passengers who applied for fit-to-fly letters at the BKK Class I Airport Health Post were selected using simple random sampling. The dependent variable was compliance with fit-to-fly recommendations. Independent variables included maternal age, gestational age, parity, education level, travel reasons, document completeness, exposure to information, family support, and maternal knowledge. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods with multiple logistic regression. Results: Gestational age (OR=6.79; 95%CI: 2.06–22.41; p=0.002), parity (OR=8.00; 95%CI: 2.61–22.54; p<0.001), education level (OR=5.49; 95%CI: 1.47–20.41; p=0.011), and maternal knowledge (OR=6.75; 95%CI: 2.13–21.34; p=0.001) were significantly associated with compliance. Other factors such as exposure to information, maternal age, document completeness, travel reasons, and family support showed no statistically significant association..Conclusion: Gestational age, parity, education level, and maternal knowledge were significant determinants of compliance with fit-to-fly recommendations among pregnant women. These findings highlight the importance of targeted health education and screening prior to air travel during pregnancy.

Abstract

Background. Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium parasites and transmitted through the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. According to the Ministry of Health of Timor-Leste's 2023 malaria elimination report, Covalima, Bobonaro, and Oecuse districts collectively reported 9 malaria cases in 2023, along with a notable vector density. Spatial analysis offers a comprehensive method for compiling and managing spatial data, transforming it into meaningful insights. Aims. This study aims to describe malaria mapping based on epidemiological variables in Bobonaro and Covalima Districts, Timor-Leste. Methods. This descriptive epidemiological research utilizes malaria case reports from Bobonaro and Covalima Districts as its population and sample. Result. The results indicate that the Annual Malaria Incidence (AMI) and Annual Parasite Index (API) in these districts showed an increasing trend from 2019-2023, mainly attributable to imported cases from the border region between Covalima and Malaka Districts. Males and individuals over 15 years of age are more frequently affected by malaria, likely due to their higher levels of mobilization for work or other activities. Plasmodium falciparum is the most common species identified, primarily associated with swamp habitats. Conclusion. Covalima District has two temporary and one permanent swamp. Additionally, lake and lagoon habitats were identified in the Covalima Regency. The two regencies share similar conditions regarding sun intensity, rainfall, temperature, humidity, and altitude. Implication. Communities can play a crucial role in independent malaria vector control efforts, such as introducing larvivorous fish into water bodies and eliminating stagnant water puddles around homes

Abstract

Sebaliknya, status ekonomi (p = 0,102; OR = 1,876; IK95%: 0,669–5,259) dan dukungan tenaga medis (p = 0,158; OR = 0,651; IK95%: 0,175–2,419) tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Dukungan keluarga menjadi faktor paling dominan dalam meningkatkan kepatuhan pengobatan.
