Abstract

Educational challenges in the 21st century have become increasingly complex in line with the rapid development of technology and artificial intelligence, requiring educational institutions to prepare graduates who are not only proficient in technical skills but also possess strong character and higher-order thinking competencies. Vocational High Schools (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan/SMK) as vocational education institutions are required to integrate 21st-century character values, including critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration (4C), into the learning process. This study aims to examine the implementation of the integration of 4C character values through the application of the deep learning method in Civic Education (Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan/PKn) learning at SMKN 2 Sukorejo, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the application of the deep learning method in Civic Education learning is able to facilitate students in critically analyzing civic issues, fostering creativity in formulating solutions, enhancing communication skills, and strengthening collaboration through contextual and collaborative learning. Supporting factors include teacher readiness, a conducive school climate, and the relevance of learning materials, while the constraints encountered include limited instructional time and differences in students’ abilities. This study confirms that the deep learning method has the potential to serve as a strategic approach to strengthening 21st-century character development among vocational high school students.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) serves as a fundamental foundation for the development of children's character, cognitive abilities, socio-emotional skills, and learning readiness. To provide high-quality ECE services, schools are required not only to excel in the learning process but also to manage their assets effectively and sustainably. School asset management constitutes an essential component of educational quality management, as it supports all educational services and learning activities. This study aims to analyze school asset management planning, identify the factors influencing its implementation, and describe its impact on improving school quality at TKN Pembina Bugul Kidul and TK Al-Kautsar in Pasuruan City. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with school principals and teachers, direct observations of school asset utilization, and document analysis of asset planning and inventory records. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and methodological triangulation. The findings indicate that asset management planning in both schools has been developed based on instructional needs and student services and aligned with the School Work Plan (RKS) and the School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS). Nevertheless, several assets have not yet been utilized optimally. Factors such as principal leadership, budget availability, human resource competencies, inventory management systems, and community involvement significantly influence the effectiveness of school asset management. Well-managed school assets have been shown to positively contribute to improved learning quality, a more conducive school environment, efficient resource utilization, and increased public trust in educational institutions.

Abstract

Teacher performance is a key determinant of successful teaching and learning processes and the achievement of educational quality. Previous studies have demonstrated that principals' academic supervision and teachers' pedagogical competence are two important factors contributing to improved teacher performance. However, the implementation of these factors in elementary schools within Cluster 4 Bangil, Pasuruan Regency, varies considerably, highlighting the need for empirical investigation into their influence on teacher performance. This study aims to examine the effects of academic supervision and pedagogical competence, both individually and simultaneously, on the performance of elementary school teachers. This study employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto research design. The study population consisted of teachers from six elementary schools in Cluster 4 Bangil, Pasuruan Regency. A total of 54 teachers were selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires that had met validity and reliability requirements and were analyzed using multiple linear regression preceded by classical assumption tests. The findings indicate that academic supervision has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Pedagogical competence also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Furthermore, academic supervision and pedagogical competence simultaneously exert a significant influence on teacher performance. These findings suggest that continuous academic supervision, coupled with the strengthening of teachers' pedagogical competence, constitutes an essential strategy for enhancing the professionalism and performance of elementary school teachers.

Abstract

Teacher professionalism is a key determinant of the quality of early childhood education services. Enhancing teacher professionalism depends not only on individual competencies but also on the human resource management (HRM) strategies implemented by educational institutions. This study aims to analyze HRM strategies for improving teacher professionalism, identify the factors influencing their implementation, and develop a strategic HRM model for kindergarten institutions. A qualitative approach with a multisite research design was employed at PGRI 4 Kindergarten Bangil and Muslimat NU 10 Khodijah Kindergarten Bangil. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing through cross-site analysis. The findings reveal that HRM strategies are implemented through five major stages: teacher workforce planning, competency-based recruitment, continuous professional development, performance supervision and evaluation, and the provision of motivation and rewards. These strategies have contributed to improving teachers' pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies. Supporting factors include effective school leadership, a collaborative organizational culture, teachers' commitment, and support from the governing organization. Conversely, limited financial resources, unequal access to professional training opportunities, and excessive administrative workloads remain significant barriers. This study proposes a Sustainable Integrative Human Resource Management Strategy Model that integrates workforce planning, competency development, academic supervision, performance evaluation, and a reward system into a continuous cycle for enhancing kindergarten teachers' professionalism.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of facilities and infrastructure as key components of school management for enhancing learning quality and educational standards, particularly in rural areas that often face physical facility limitations. The study aims to analyze the adequacy of facilities and infrastructure, budget efficiency, and user satisfaction at UPT SDN Kebonharjo 1 and UPT SDN Dingil 1 in Jatirogo District, Tuban Regency. Employing a qualitative approach with a multi-site study design, data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data analysis utilized inductive and cross-site comparative methods, with validity verified through qualitative validation tests. The research findings indicate the following: Facilities and Infrastructure Adequacy: Despite limitations at the basic functional level, both schools managed to fulfill essential learning rights by providing six adequate classrooms. UPT SDN Kebonharjo 1 achieved a 1:1 textbook ratio, while UPT SDN Dingil 1 focused on the adequacy of classroom furniture. Budget Efficiency: Efficiency was achieved by prioritizing the periodic maintenance of existing assets to minimize procurement costs. Spatial constraints were addressed cost-effectively by reconfiguring the schoolyard into a multifunctional (shared-space) area and implementing flexible scheduling. User Satisfaction: Teachers and students expressed satisfaction and a strong sense of comfort in the learning environment. The schools also successfully expanded their educational ecosystem through strategic, no-cost partnerships with the local Community Health Center (Puskesmas), the Regional Library, and the Quran Education Center (TPQ). Furthermore, the physical limitations at UPT SDN Kebonharjo 1 served as the basis for *Dapodik* (Basic Education Data) administration to formulate a master plan for a new building proposal on a 2,050 m² site.
