Abstract

The management of Islamic value-based education in schools continues to face fundamental challenges in aligning ideal Islamic values with managerial practices that tend to be administrative and formalistic. This study highlights the gap between the ideal concept of Islamic education management and its practical implementation in schools as the main novelty of the research. This article aims to critically examine the weaknesses in the implementation of Islamic education management and to formulate strengthening strategies that are relevant to contemporary educational developments. This study employs a library research approach by reviewing recent scientific journals and academic literature published within the last five years. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns of findings, main issues, and recommendations for managerial strengthening. The findings show that, conceptually, Islamic education management includes the functions of planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision based on spiritual values. However, school practices are still dominated by technical approaches, so value integration has not been carried out substantively. This condition causes educational management to remain symbolic and not yet optimally affect quality improvement. The contributing factors include weak transformative leadership, low teacher professionalism, curriculum fragmentation, and the underdevelopment of a quality culture. Therefore, a paradigm renewal in educational management is needed, emphasizing the integration of values and systems, leadership strengthening, and adaptive and sustainable managerial innovation. ABSTRAK Pengelolaan pendidikan berbasis nilai Islam di sekolah masih menghadapi persoalan mendasar dalam menyelaraskan nilai-nilai ideal Islam dengan praktik manajerial yang cenderung administratif dan formalistik. Kajian ini menyoroti kesenjangan antara konsep ideal manajemen pendidikan Islam dan implementasi praktis di sekolah sebagai kebaruan utama penelitian. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara kritis kelemahan penerapan pengelolaan pendidikan Islam serta merumuskan strategi penguatan yang relevan dengan perkembangan pendidikan masa kini. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka dengan menelaah jurnal ilmiah dan literatur akademik terbaru dalam lima tahun terakhir. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis isi (content analysis) untuk mengidentifikasi pola temuan, isu utama, dan rekomendasi penguatan manajerial. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa secara konseptual, pengelolaan pendidikan Islam telah mencakup fungsi perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan, dan pengawasan yang berlandaskan nilai spiritual. Namun, praktik di sekolah masih didominasi pendekatan teknis sehingga integrasi nilai belum berjalan secara substantif. Kondisi ini menyebabkan pengelolaan pendidikan cenderung simbolik dan belum berdampak optimal terhadap peningkatan mutu. Faktor penyebabnya meliputi lemahnya kepemimpinan transformatif, rendahnya profesionalisme guru, fragmentasi kurikulum, serta belum berkembangnya budaya mutu. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pembaruan paradigma pengelolaan yang menekankan integrasi nilai dan sistem, penguatan kepemimpinan, serta inovasi manajerial yang adaptif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Islamic education management plays an important role in improving the effectiveness of educational institution management. However, its implementation still faces problems such as weak organizing practices, unclear division of duties, limited coordination among institutional units, and the suboptimal integration of Islamic values into management practices. Previous studies have mostly discussed Islamic education management, organizing, organizational structure, and the scope of management separately, leaving limited attention to their relationship as an integrated conceptual framework. This article aims to explain the concept of Islamic education management, organizational management, organizational structure, and the scope of Islamic education management. This study uses library research with a qualitative descriptive approach by reviewing relevant books, scientific journals, and academic literature. The findings are presented as a conceptual synthesis, not as empirical field research results. This synthesis shows that the effectiveness of Islamic education management is determined by a clear division of duties, authority, and responsibilities; an organizational structure that fits the characteristics of institutions such as schools, madrasahs, and pesantren; and integrated management of curriculum, students, educators, finance, facilities and infrastructure, administration, public relations, supporting units, and extracurricular activities. Islamic values such as trustworthiness, justice, deliberation, responsibility, honesty, and transparency serve as important foundations for building effective governance in Islamic educational institutions and supporting student character formation. Therefore, organizing and managing the scope of Islamic education should be understood as a conceptual strategy to strengthen the quality of Islamic educational institutions. ABSTRAK Manajemen pendidikan Islam berperan penting dalam meningkatkan efektivitas pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan. Namun, pelaksanaannya masih menghadapi masalah berupa lemahnya pengorganisasian, kurang jelasnya pembagian tugas, rendahnya koordinasi antarbagian, dan belum optimalnya integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam praktik manajemen. Kajian sebelumnya lebih banyak membahas manajemen pendidikan Islam, pengorganisasian, struktur organisasi, dan ruang lingkup manajemen secara terpisah, sehingga belum banyak menampilkan keterkaitan keempat aspek tersebut sebagai satu kerangka konseptual. Artikel ini bertujuan menjelaskan konsep manajemen pendidikan Islam, manajemen pengorganisasian, struktur organisasi, dan ruang lingkup manajemen pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kepustakaan dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui telaah buku, jurnal ilmiah, dan literatur akademik yang relevan. Hasil kajian ini merupakan sintesis konseptual, bukan hasil penelitian lapangan. Sintesis tersebut menunjukkan bahwa efektivitas manajemen pendidikan Islam ditentukan oleh kejelasan pembagian tugas, wewenang, dan tanggung jawab; kesesuaian struktur organisasi dengan karakter lembaga seperti sekolah, madrasah, dan pesantren; serta pengelolaan terpadu terhadap kurikulum, peserta didik, tenaga pendidik, keuangan, sarana prasarana, administrasi, hubungan masyarakat, unit penunjang, dan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Nilai Islam seperti amanah, keadilan, musyawarah, tanggung jawab, kejujuran, dan transparansi menjadi dasar penting dalam membangun tata kelola lembaga pendidikan Islam yang efektif dan berorientasi pada pembentukan karakter peserta didik. Dengan demikian, pengorganisasian dan ruang lingkup manajemen pendidikan Islam perlu dipahami sebagai strategi konseptual untuk memperkuat mutu lembaga pendidikan Islam.

Abstract

This article is motivated by the discrepancy between the ideal concept and the actual practice of Islamic education management in educational institutions, both in classical and contemporary contexts. Previous studies have generally discussed Islamic education management separately from historical, philosophical, institutional, or practical perspectives; therefore, few studies have integrated classical problems, contemporary problems, and organizational problems of Islamic education into a single critical analytical framework. This article aims to examine the problems of classical Islamic education management, contemporary Islamic education management, and Islamic educational organizations. This study employed a qualitative approach using library research. The data were obtained from 12 relevant sources, consisting of 11 scientific journal articles and 1 academic book published between 2020 and 2026. The literature was analyzed using content analysis with a thematic-critical approach to identify patterns of problems, root causes, impacts, and directions for managerial solutions. The findings show that classical problems in Islamic education management are mainly related to centralized leadership, weak stakeholder management, and traditional learning methods. Contemporary problems include low professionalism among managers, limited institutional innovation, digitalization challenges, and the suboptimal integration of religious knowledge and modern science. Meanwhile, organizational problems in Islamic education are reflected in weak governance, institutional coordination, human resource competence, and strategic leadership. The conceptual contribution of this article is the proposal of an integrative framework suggesting that the reform of Islamic education management should connect historical dimensions, contemporary challenges, and organizational strengthening through participatory leadership, improvement of managerial competence, digitalization of management, and governance based on Islamic values. ABSTRAK Artikel ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya ketidaksesuaian antara konsep ideal dan praktik manajemen pendidikan Islam dalam pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan, baik pada masa klasik maupun kontemporer. Kajian sebelumnya umumnya membahas manajemen pendidikan Islam secara terpisah, baik dari aspek historis, filosofis, kelembagaan, maupun praktis, sehingga belum banyak kajian yang mengintegrasikan problem klasik, problem kontemporer, dan problem organisasi pendidikan Islam dalam satu kerangka analisis kritis. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji problem manajemen pendidikan Islam klasik, problem manajemen pendidikan Islam kontemporer, serta problem organisasi pendidikan Islam. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kepustakaan. Data diperoleh dari 12 literatur yang relevan, terdiri atas 11 artikel jurnal ilmiah dan 1 buku akademik yang diterbitkan pada rentang tahun 2020–2026. Literatur dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis isi dengan pendekatan tematik-kritis untuk mengidentifikasi pola masalah, akar persoalan, dampak, dan arah solusi manajerial. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa problem klasik manajemen pendidikan Islam terutama terletak pada kepemimpinan yang sentralistik, lemahnya pengelolaan stakeholder, dan metode pembelajaran yang masih tradisional. Problem kontemporer mencakup rendahnya profesionalitas pengelola, keterbatasan inovasi kelembagaan, tantangan digitalisasi, serta belum optimalnya integrasi ilmu agama dan ilmu pengetahuan modern. Sementara itu, problem organisasi pendidikan Islam tampak pada lemahnya tata kelola, koordinasi kelembagaan, kompetensi sumber daya manusia, dan kepemimpinan strategis. Kontribusi konseptual artikel ini adalah menawarkan kerangka integratif bahwa pembaruan manajemen pendidikan Islam perlu menghubungkan dimensi historis, tantangan kontemporer, dan penguatan organisasi melalui kepemimpinan partisipatif, peningkatan kompetensi pengelola, digitalisasi manajemen, serta tata kelola berbasis nilai-nilai Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Islamic education management is applied in the administration of religious activities and how it impacts the improvement of student discipline at SMKN 5 Majene. Research on this theme in vocational high school settings remains considerably rare compared to studies conducted in pesantren and madrasah environments, making this research an effort to fill that existing gap. To address the research problems, this study employs a descriptive qualitative approach through field research, with data collected via observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving 14 purposively selected informants. The data analysis process follows the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman, while data validity is ensured through several procedures, namely source triangulation, technique triangulation, member checking, and enhanced observational persistence. The research findings reveal that various religious activities, including congregational prayer, Quranic recitation, and Islamic holiday commemorations, are managed systematically by referring to four management functions: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. The majority of students demonstrate active participation in every activity and experience observable behavioral changes, encompassing improved time discipline, greater compliance with rules, and increased regularity in learning activities. Based on the overall findings, this study concludes that the management of religious activities grounded in Islamic education plays a significant role in shaping students' disciplinary character through a process of religious habituation carried out consistently and in a structured manner.

Abstract

Schools and madrasas require a clear strategic direction so that educational programs do not stop at administrative routines. Vision, mission, and institutional objectives are essential instruments for aligning learning, school culture, resource management, and quality assurance. This article aims to describe the management cycle of developing, socializing, implementing, and evaluating school or madrasa vision, mission, and objectives as a basis for improving the quality of basic education. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were obtained from educational regulations, books on strategic management and school-based management, and relevant scientific articles. The analysis shows that vision and mission should be formulated through a participatory process based on internal and external context analysis. Socialization is effective when it uses formal, visual, digital, and participatory communication channels. Implementation must be translated into curriculum planning, learning practices, extracurricular activities, character formation, school culture, and institutional work programs. Evaluation should be conducted periodically using measurable indicators, evidence-based reflection, and follow-up plans. The contribution of this article is an integrated management cycle that connects strategic formulation, collective understanding, program execution, and continuous improvement in school and madrasa governance.

Abstract

Administrasi pendidikan memerlukan sistem pengelolaan informasi yang efektif untuk mendukung penyelenggaraan kegiatan pendidikan. Arsip dan dokumentasi merupakan komponen penting dalam proses administrasi karena berfungsi sebagai sumber data, bukti autentik, dan dasar pengambilan keputusan. Arsip adalah rekaman informasi yang dibuat, diterima, dan dipelihara oleh lembaga pendidikan dalam rangka pelaksanaan kegiatan akademik maupun non-akademik. Sementara itu, dokumentasi merupakan proses pencatatan, pengumpulan, dan penyimpanan data secara sistematis agar informasi dapat ditemukan kembali dengan cepat dan akurat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konsep, fungsi, dan prinsip pengelolaan arsip dan dokumentasi dalam lingkungan administrasi pendidikan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dari berbagai buku dan jurnal administrasi pendidikan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan arsip yang baik mampu meningkatkan efisiensi pelayanan administrasi, menjaga akuntabilitas sekolah, serta mendukung transparansi dan evaluasi program pendidikan. Selain itu, penerapan sistem dokumentasi yang terstruktur berkontribusi pada penyediaan data yang valid sebagai dasar perencanaan dan pengembangan mutu lembaga pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, sekolah perlu menerapkan manajemen arsip dan dokumentasi sesuai standar dan memanfaatkan teknologi digital untuk mendukung efektivitas administrasi pendidikan.

Abstract

Article aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic education management in the management of teachers and students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Majene and to identify the obstacles encountered in its implementation. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, the data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the vice principal, teachers, and students. The data were then analyzed through the processes of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teacher management was implemented through program evaluation, supervision, competency development, training, religious habituation, and task distribution. Meanwhile, student management was carried out through religious activities such as moral development, dhuha prayer, Qur’anic recitation, tahfidz, religious speeches, and Ramadan safari programs. The obstacles identified include differences in students’ educational backgrounds, limited basic religious understanding, time constraints, and the discipline of teachers and students in participating in religious activities. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive mapping of the implementation of Islamic education management in madrasahs, highlighting both management strategies and practical challenges. Therefore, this study contributes to understanding the effectiveness of Islamic education management in creating a religious and well-directed educational environment in accordance with the goals of Islamic education.
