Abstract

Background: This environmental exposure triggers the formation of free radicals, also known as reactive oxygen species (ROS). Apart from being caused by exogenous factors, free radicals are also formed naturally through physiological cell metabolism. Free radicals that are not handled will have a negative impact on humans, including abnormal changes that affect certain genes in the body that cause cancer. Carinate leaf extract is also qualitatively proven to contain flavonoid compounds based on Thin Layer Chromatography results which have potential as antioxidants.Objective: This study generally aims to determine the total flavonoids and antioxidant activity in carinate leaf extract (Rubus moluccanus L) leaf extractMethods: This research method is a laboratory experiment with a true-experimental research design using a post test only control group design. The control group in this study was quercetin (DPPH) and variations in the concentration of ethanol extract of carinate leaves as the treatment group.Results: The results explained that carinate leaf extract has a total flavonoid content of 143.8 mg/Qe/g with an average IC50 value of 1,32 ppm which means the antioxidant activity of carinate leaves is very strong and better than quercetin with an average IC50 value of 2,19 ppm. T Independent Sample analysis results obtained of 0.000 which that there is a significant difference in antioxidant activity between carinate leaves and quercetin.Conclusion: Carinate leaves have very strong antioxidant activity so that carinate leaves can be utilized as antioxidants.

Abstract

Background: One of the plants that is often used by people in the interior of Central Kalimantan is the kaluan or halaban plant, where the kaluan or halaban plant is a typical Kalimantan plant that Dayak people usually know as laban. The Kaluan plant is often used by the community as a natural treatment. Kaluan leaves are generally used to treat wounds, scabies, and relieve fever. Kaluan plants have chemical content, the leaves and stem bark contain relatively large amounts of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, sterolterpenoids and tannins, which are active compounds that can ward off free radicals.Objective: This research aimed to determine the alkaloid levels in calluan plants (Vitex pinnata L) using fraction levels, distilled water, chloroform, n-hexane.Methods: This research uses an experimental method using the True Experimental type of research which aims to see the comparison of alkaloid levels from kaluan leaf extract (Vitex pinnata Linn) when using N-hexane, chloroform and methanol fractions. The research design used in this study was Randomized block design (random sampling) and compared samples with the 3 fractions used (N-hexane, chloroform, and distilled water).Results: Based on the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the total alkaloid content in each, namely, for the n-hexane fraction is 8.03%, for the chloroform fraction it is 7.1%, and for the distilled water fraction it is 2.41%.Conclusion: Based on research, the highest alkaloid content was in the n-hexane fraction, namely 8.03%

Abstract

Abstrak. Diabetes mellitus (DM) adalah kondisi penyakit jangka panjang yang ditandai dengan kadar glukosa darah yang meningkat. Prevalensi diabetes melitus meningkat sebesar 8,5%, yang menyebabkan estimasi jumlah penderita di Indonesia melebihi 16 juta orang. Setiap daerah tentunya memiliki cara unik dalam memanfaatkan tumbuhan, yang berbeda dengan daerah lain, seperti daun salam dan daun jambu biji. Masyarakat di Komplek Palapan Permai memiliki latar belakang pendidikan formal yang relatif tinggi dan beragam mata pencaharian. Masyarakat komplek Palapan Permai belum memahami dengan benar terkait penggunaan dan pengolahan obat herbal yang benar. Oleh sebab itu, kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi terkait pengolahan daun salam dan daun jambu biji yang tepat. Desain kegiatan edukasi yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pelaksanaan menggunakan survei dan pembagian leaflet. Hasil kegiatan edukasi memiliki jumlah jawaban benar pretest sebesar 60,50% dan posttest sebesar 98,80% yang menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman responden dengan rata-rata benar sebesar 38,32 (38,30%). Oleh karena itu, kegiatan edukasi yang dilakukan di Palapan Permai meningkatkan pengetahuan responden mengenai daun salam dan daun jambu biji. Dengan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan, diharapkan masyarakat komplek Palapan Permai mampu mengolah daun salam dan daun jambu biji dengan tepat. Abstract. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a long-term disease condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus increased by 8.5%, which led to an estimated number of sufferers in Indonesia exceeding 16 million people. Each region certainly has a unique way of utilizing plants, which is different from other regions, such as bay leaves and guava leaves. The community in Palapan Permai Complex has a relatively high formal education background and a variety of livelihoods. The people of the Palapan Permai complex do not yet understand the correct use and processing of herbal medicines. Therefore, this activity aimed to provide education related to the proper processing of bay leaves and guava leaves. The design of educational activities used was descriptive quantitative with implementation using surveys and leaflet distribution. The results of educational activities have a total number of correct answers pretest of 60.50% and posttest of 98.80% which shows there is an increase in knowledge and understanding of respondents with an average correctness of 38.32 (38.30%). Therefore, educational activities carried out in Palapan Permai increased respondents' knowledge about bay leaves and guava leaves. With an increase in knowledge, it is hoped that the Palapan Permai complex community will be able to process bay leaves and guava leaves appropriately.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus adalah salah satu penyakit yang ditandai dengan kadar glukosa darah melebihi normal yang disebabkan kegagalan tubuh memanfaatkan insulin. Dari hasil survei yang dilakukan World Health Organization (WHO), Indonesia masuk ke dalam 4 negara tertinggi yang penduduknya yang menderita Diabetes MelitusEvaluasi rasionalitas pengobatan Diabetes Melitus sangat penting dilakukan karena angka Diabetes Mellitus tipe II masih tinggi, dan pengobatan yang tidak rasional dapat meningkatkan risiko komplikasi dan biaya kesehatan yang tidak perlu. Evaluasi ini memastikan pasien menerima terapi yang efektif dan aman.

Abstract

Abstract. Tanaman obat tradisional telah lama dimanfaatkan Masyarakat Indonesia untuk pemelihaaraan Kesehatan, salah satunya adalah serai (Cymbopogon citratus) yang kaya akan alkaloid, flavonoid, dan monoterpene dengan berbagai manfaat farmakologis. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas pengetahuan dan nilai guna sebuah produk warga Desa Kampung Melayu RT.06 Kota Banjarmasin dalam mengolah serai menjadi serbuk instan yang lebih awet dan praktis saat digunakan. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi pemaparan materi, pelatihan dan praktek secara langsung, dan evaluasi pretest-posttest pada 25 orang masyarakat yang berpartisifasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta sebesar 62% dalam pembuatan serbuk instan serai. Kegiatan ini juga membekali peserta dengan edukasi pemasaran produk herbal. Pelatihan ini terbukti efektif meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat dalam pengolahan produk herbal berbasis potensi lokal dimana masyarakat sangat antusias saat pelaksanaan.  Abstrak. Traditional medicinal plants have long been used by Indonesian people for health maintenance, one of which is lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) which is rich in alkaloids, flavonoids, and monoterpenes with various pharmacological benefits. This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of knowledge and the utility value of a product of the residents of Kampung Melayu Village RT.06 Banjarmasin City in processing lemongrass into instant powder that is more durable and practical when used. The methods used are socialization of material presentation, direct training and practice, and pretest-posttest evaluation on 25 participating people. The results of the training showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills by 62% in making instant lemongrass powder. This activity also provides participants with education on marketing herbal products. This training has proven effective in increasing community capacity in processing herbal products based on local potential where the community is very enthusias during the implementation.

Abstract

Degenerative diseases linked to oxidative stress are becoming increasingly common, pushing researchers to explore natural compounds with antioxidant properties like flavonoids as potential alternatives for treatment. One promising source is Basella rubra L., or binahong leaves, which are traditionally used in herbal medicine and known to contain these beneficial compounds. This study set out to find out just how much flavonoid is in binahong leaf extract, and whether using different types of solvents during the extraction process would impact the results. The process began with a maceration technique using 70% ethanol to extract the active compounds. The extract was then separated into three fractions using a step-by-step method with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and distilled water. To check the flavonoid content, the researchers applied a color-based test with FeCl₃ and also measured the levels using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at 417 nm. It turned out that all fractions contained flavonoids, but in varying amounts. The n-hexane fraction showed the highest level, followed by ethyl acetate, with distilled water yielding the lowest. These results highlight how the choice of solvent especially its polarity plays a key role in how effectively flavonoids are extracted from plants.

Abstract

Dismenore adalah kondisi nyeri haid yang umum dialami oleh perempuan usia reproduktif, dengan prevalensi mencapai 65,4% di Indonesia. Terdapat dua jenis dismenore, yaitu dismenore primer dan sekunder. Penanganan dismenore primer umumnya dilakukan dengan obat antiinflamasi nonsteroid (OAINS), namun penggunaan jangka panjang dapat menimbulkan efek samping. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengobatan alternatif yang lebih aman, salah satunya adalah ekstrak asam jawa ( Tamarindus indica ) yang diketahui mengandung senyawa bioaktif dengan efek antiinflamasi dan analgesik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meninjau efektivitas ekstrak buah asam jawa dalam menurunkan intensitas nyeri haid pada penderita dismenore melalui analisis literatur. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan mengumpulkan dan menganalisis artikel yang relevan dari database Google Scholar. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak asam jawa mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti tanin, saponin, flavonoid, dan polifenol, yang berkontribusi pada efek antiinflamasi dan analgesik. Selain itu, berdasarkan kajian klinis, asam jawa efektif dalam mengurangi nyeri dismenore, dengan mekanisme kerja yang melibatkan penghambatan produksi prostaglandin dan peningkatan aliran darah ke rahim. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar ilmiah untuk pengembangan terapi berbasis fitofarmaka yang aman dan berkelanjutan dalam penatalaksanaan dismenore primer.

Abstract

Kanker merupakan suatu penyakit yang menjadi perhatian dalam dunia kesehatan serta merupakan salah satu penyakit yang menjadi perhatian serius pada bidang kesehatan, tidak terkecuali pada bidang farmasi. Kanker dapat menyebabkan kematian bagi penderitanya. Sebanyak 9,6 juta orang meninggal karena menderita kanker dan 57% terjadi di benua Asia. Pencarian obat antikanker berbasis bahan alam perlu dikembangkan dengan memanfaatkan potensi sumber daya alam Indonesia yang kaya dengan floranya. Leunca (Solanum nigrum L.) adalah salah satu tumbuhan yang memiliki aktivitas antikanker dan merupakan tanaman obat yang biasanya dijadikan simplisia dari bagian daun maupun buah. Tanaman leunca secara empiris mencegah gangguan kanker, yakni kanker payudara. Kandungan kimia dari tanaman leunca yaitu alkaloid, flavonoid, fenol, dan steroid.

Abstract

Penggunaan masker wajah sudah menjadi bagian dari rutinitas perawatan kulit yang semakin populer, terutama dikalangan remaja, khususnya siswi SMKN 3 Banjamasin. berbagai alasan mendorong remaja untuk menggunakan masker wajah dengan kesadaran pentingnya merawat kulit tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh tren kecantikan tetapi juga oleh pemahaman akan manfaat bagi perawatan wajah. Menganalisis perilaku penggunaan masker wajah oleh siswi SMKN 3 Banjarmasin dengan pendekatan Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 80 siswi yang dipilih menggunakan teknik (Probability sampling) data dikumpukan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik deskriptif, termasuk uji normalitas, uji T, dan uji F. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku penggunaan masker wajah dipengaruhi oleh sikap, norma subjektif, dan kontrol perilaku. Uji T menunjukkan bahwa sikap memiliki t-hitung sebesar 11,433, norma subjektif sebesar 3,050, dan kontrol perilaku sebesar 6,822, yang semuanya lebih besar dari t-tabel (1,990) dengan signifikansi < 0,05. Uji F menunjukkan bahwa ketiga variabel tersebut secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perilaku penggunaan masker wajah dengan nilai F-hitung sebesar 19,159. Penggunaan masker wajah oleh siswi SMKN 3 Banjarmasin bukan hanya didasarkan pada kebutuhan perawatan kulit, tetapi juga dipengaruhi oleh sikap pribadi, norma sosial, serta persepsi mereka tentang kemudahan penggunaan. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi bagi edukasi remaja dalam memilih dan menggunakan produk perawatan kulit dengan lebih bijak.

Abstract

The background to this research is that one of the plants that is often used by people in the interior of Central Kalimantan, specifically in the village of Tumbang Talaken, is the Kalapapa plant. The Dayak tribe community in the Tumbang Talaken area of Central Kalimantan uses Kalapapa leaves as a trusted medicinal plant and is used as a traditional medicine to heal wounds using the simple method of crushing the leaves and applying them directly to the surface of the injured skin. Kalapapa leaves contain flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannins. In the context of wound healing, flavonoids have an important role in increasing the speed of wound healing. The aim of the research was to determine the levels of total flavonoid compounds in the distilled water fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and n-hexane fraction of kalapapa leaf extract (Vitex Pinnata L.). The research method used was a descriptive method by looking at the results of qualitative data, namely a reaction test. color and quantitative data, namely using Uv-Vis spectrophotometry to see total flavonoid levels. The results of the qualitative analysis research showed that the color test identification of kalapapa leaf extract (Vitex Pinnata L.) was positive for containing flavonoids. The results of quantitative analysis using Uv-Vis spectrophotometry showed that the total flavonoid content with 96% ethanol extract was 43.95 QE/g, distilled water with a value of 42.14 QE/g, ethyl acetate with a value of 196.8 QE/g, and n -hexane with a value of 54.42 QE/g or 96% 4.39% ethanol extract, distilled water 4.21%, ethyl acetate 19.68%, and N-hexane 5.44%. The highest total flavonoid levels were found in the ethyl acetate fraction. The research conclusion is that kalapapa leaf extract at fraction levels contains flavonoid compounds with total flavonoid levels in the ethanol extract of 96%, distilled water fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and n-hexane fraction of 43.95 mg QE/g or 4.39%; 42.14 mg QE/g or 4.21%; 196.8 mg QE/g or 19.68%; and 54.42 mg QE/g or 5.44%.
