Abstract

Background: The prevalence of smartphone usage continues to rise, becoming deeply embedded in daily routines across all age groups. Young adults are particularly significant users, often engaging in dual-tasking, such as texting while walking. This behavior may lead to biomechanical alterations, particularly in cervical posture, which could have long-term musculoskeletal implications. Objective: This study investigates the biomechanical alterations in cervical angle during walking with and without dual-task texting among smartphone users, specifically focusing on young adults. Method: A quantitative observational study was conducted using a single group repeated measurement design. Thirty male participants, aged 21.07 ± 1.05 years, were involved. Cervical angle degrees were measured using video analysis, with data processed through the Kinovea application to extract kinematic coordinates. Results: The One Way Repeated ANOVA Test revealed a significant increase (p<0.01) in cervical angle degree during texting while walking, indicating that dual-tasking notably affects cervical posture. Conclusion: The findings highlight that dual-task texting induces significant biomechanical changes in cervical posture.

Abstract

Introduction: Current technological developments are very fast making it easier for people to carry out all activities via smartphones. One of the frequently used smartphone functions is typing and sending messages. Typing and sending messages can be done anytime and anywhere. Typing messages on a smartphone while walking falls into the dual-task category. This study aims to analyze the effect of using dual-task texting on cervical region muscle activity on smartphone users, where smartphone users type messages while walking. Methods: The method used is a single-group repeated experimental design. A total of 36 subjects consisted of 19 women and 17 men with an age range of 21.28 ± 0.97 years. The parameter measured is the upper trapezius muscle activity. Subjects were asked to walk in five conditions, namely baseline walking, texting flashcard 1, texting flashcard 2, texting flashcard 3, and texting flashcard 4. All experiments recorded upper trapezius muscle activity using an electromyograph. Results: The results of repeated measure ANOVA stated that typing on a smartphone had a significant effect (p < 0.05) on young respondents increasing activity of the upper trapezius muscle. Conclusion: Dual-task texting significantly affects cervical region muscle activity, particularly in the upper trapezius muscle on the right side, which has the potential to increase the risk of muscle fatigue in smartphone users.

Abstract

The Project for Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile and Rahmatan Lil Alamin Student Profile (P5-PPRA) learning program has been declared a mandatory program within the Merdeka Curriculum. However, teachers at Aisyiyah Early Childhood Education (PAUD) in Gatak District lack adequate understanding of it. The objective of this community service activity was to enhance Aisyiyah PAUD teachers' understanding of the P5-PPRA learning program. The methods used included lectures, question-and-answer sessions, and discussions. After participating in the socialization, participants' knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles, and benefits of P5-PPRA increased from 58.13% to 90.69%. This improved understanding equips Aisyiyah PAUD teachers with sufficient preparation to implement the P5-PPRA learning program in the classroom. Mastery of the P5-PPRA learning program is expected to improve the quality of Aisyiyah PAUD education.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to enhance teachers’ digital pedagogical competence by equipping them with up‑to‑date technological skills, enabling them to operate digital tools effectively in their teaching practice and meet the demands of 21st‑century learning. Methodology: A qualitative literature‑review approach was employed, involving systematic searches across academic and professional sources, followed by critical analysis and synthesis of findings related to teachers’ use of technology in education. Results: The review indicates that many Indonesian teachers remain unprepared for integrating technology into instruction, often relying on conventional materials. To bridge this gap, teachers must develop digital pedagogical competence—an amalgam of technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge—to design creative, innovative learning experiences aligned with modern digitalization trends. Applications/Originality/Value: By highlighting the critical role of digital pedagogical competence, this study provides a theoretical foundation and practical roadmap for teacher‑training programs, curriculum developers, and policymakers aiming to empower educators to thrive in a rapidly digitalizing world and to foster more engaging, technology‑rich classrooms.
