Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the Fernald method can help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder improve their word reading skills. The type of research used is an experiment in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR) with an A-B design. The subject of the study was a fifth-grade student with Autism Spectrum Disorder at SLB Al-Azhar Bukittinggi. The data were collected using a word reading ability test as the main instrument. Data analysis was carried out using a visual analysis technique presented in graphical form. The analysis process was conducted over 12 observation sessions. The findings indicated that the hypothesis was accepted based on the established criteria. The change in level between conditions was flat, meaning there was no immediate improvement between the final baseline results and the initial intervention results. However, the trend change between the baseline and intervention conditions increased (+), showing a rising trend from a stable baseline to an improved intervention phase. The data stability was initially inconsistent during the early intervention sessions but eventually demonstrated more consistent improvement. In conclusion, the results of this study show that the Fernald method has a positive impact on improving the word reading ability of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract

This article discusses efforts to improve the ability to determine place value using number trees in students with autism spectrum disorder. This study used a quantitative approach with a single subject research (SSR) A-B design experimental method. The research subject was a student who had difficulty determining place value. Data collection techniques consisted of tests conducted during 15 meetings, consisting of 5 baseline phase meetings and 10 intervention phase meetings. Data analysis was performed visually using graphs to observe changes in the subject's performance. In the baseline phase, the student's completion rate was stable at 30%, 30%, 30%, 30%, 30%. After the intervention with the number tree media, there was a significant increase with the percentage of number place values ranging from 60%, 60%, 70%, 70%, 70%, 90%, 80%, 80%, 80%, 80%. The intervention was stopped after 10 meetings because the data showed a stable increase and met the criteria for successful intervention in SSR, namely that student performance was achieved and there were no indications of a decline (maintenance). The results of this study prove that the number tree media is effective in improving the ability to determine place value in students with autism spectrum disorder at SLB Al-Ikhlas Bukittinggi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to systematically examine the development of entrepreneurship studies among people with disabilities by analysing the available opportunities and structural barriers that affect the success of independent businesses. This study uses a systematic literature review method by analysing 25 reputable scientific articles published between 2007 and 2025 and obtained from major academic databases using keywords related to disability entrepreneurship, barriers, and supporting factors. The selected articles were analysed and grouped thematically into three main aspects, namely entrepreneurial opportunities, systemic barriers, and supporting factors at the ecosystem level. The results of the study show that entrepreneurship has significant potential as a means of increasing the economic independence, autonomy, and self-confidence of persons with disabilities. However, this potential is still limited by restricted access to capital, low availability of inclusive entrepreneurship training, and persistent social stigma and discrimination. The findings also show that the success of entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities is more influenced by environmental, institutional, and public policy factors than by individual characteristics alone. Therefore, this study emphasises the importance of inclusive policies, strengthening a disability-friendly entrepreneurial ecosystem, and providing continuous support to encourage equal economic participation.

Abstract

Children with mild autism have difficulty understanding the abstract concept of currency value, so they need concrete learning media to develop their independence in daily activities. This study aims to improve the understanding of the concept of currency value in mild autistic children in Grade IV at a special school. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a classroom action research (CAR) design. The research subjects were children with mild autism in the fourth grade of SDLB, with the class teacher as a source of supporting data. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, documentation, currency value concept comprehension tests, and instrument validation. Data analysis techniques were carried out qualitatively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by test result analysis to see the increase in concept comprehension. The results showed that the role-playing method could improve mildly autistic children's understanding of currency values, as indicated by increased test scores and increased active participation of children in learning. Through role-playing activities, children could more easily understand the function of money in daily life through simulated buying and selling and contextual activities in the classroom. Thus, the role-playing method was declared effective in teaching mildly autistic children about currency values.
