Abstract

The research aimed to optimize students’ mathematical solving abilities through the implementation of a didactic design developed based on lesson study activities on triangular number patterns. The research design used was didactical design research. Participants in the study were 10 students (12–15 years old) at a junior high school in Mataram, Indonesia. The researcher was the main instrument, with several additional instruments, one of which was the didactic hypothesis design. The data were analyzed using qualitative analysis. The research results revealed an increase in students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities during the implementation of didactic design on triangular number pattern material. However, the increase that occurred was less than optimal. This increase resulted from the didactic design encouraging students to use Quizizz, geoboards, and inspirational videos to solve problems. However, when watching inspirational videos and Quizizz, there were problems, such as an unstable internet connection, so activities that should have been done in groups were done collectively for one class.

Abstract

Salah satu masalah pembelajaran yang dihadapi siswa SMP Negeri 3 Jonggat khususnya kelas VIIIC semester II adalah pembelajaran yang masih didominasi oleh guru. Siswa hanya mendengakan materi yang disampaikan sehingga siswa kurang berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pembelajaran, sehingga diperlukan suatu model pembelajaran yang mampu mendorong siswa berperan aktif dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran problem based instruction (pbi). Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan dalam II (dua) siklus dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan pada 35 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 3 Jonggat. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan pemberian tes pada akhir siklus menggunakan instrumen lembar observasi kegiatan guru, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, dan tes prestasi belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa pada setiap siklus. Penjelasan terkait peningkatan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa dijelaskan lebih rinci pada artikel ini. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran problem based instruction (pbi) dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan prestasi belajar siswa kelas VIII semester II SMP Negeri 3 Jonggat pada materi pokok lingkaran.The implementation of problem based instruction (PBI) learning model to increase student activity and learning achievementAbstractOne of the learning problems faced by students of SMP Negeri 3 Jonggat, especially class VIIIC semester II, is that learning is still dominated by teachers. Students only listen to the material presented so that students do not participate in learning activities, so a learning model is needed that is able to encourage students to take an active role in learning activities. This study aims to increase student activity and learning achievement through the application of problem-based instruction (PBI) learning models. This type of research is a classroom action research conducted in II (two) cycles with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research was conducted on 35 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 3 Jonggat. The research data were collected through observation and giving tests at the end of the cycle using the instrument teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, and learning achievement tests. The results showed an increase in student activity and achievement in each cycle. An explanation related to increasing student activity and learning achievement is described in more detail in this article. The conclusion of this study shows that the application of the problem based instruction (pbi) learning model can increase the activity and learning achievement of students of class VIII semester II SMP Negeri 3 Jonggat on the subject matter of the circle.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan praktis mahasiswa Program Studi Fisika di Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika melalui Program Pelatihan Alat Peraga Laboratorium IPA. Mitra yang terlibat dalam program ini adalah mahasiswa semester 2 dan 4 dari Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi Terapan, dengan total peserta sebanyak 15 mahasiswa. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan adalah In-Service Training (IST) dan On-Service Training (OST), yang mencakup sesi teori, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung di laboratorium. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan praktis mahasiswa. Nilai pretest berkisar antara 40 hingga 65, sedangkan nilai posttest berkisar antara 85 hingga 100. Peningkatan nilai terbesar adalah 57 poin, dan yang terkecil adalah 25 poin. N-Gain untuk semua responden berada di atas 0.7, menunjukkan efektivitas tinggi dari program pelatihan ini. Partisipasi aktif mahasiswa juga meningkat, dengan 75 respons menyatakan bahwa kontribusi mereka dihargai selama sesi praktek, dan masing-masing 70 respons untuk lingkungan belajar yang kondusif dan dukungan dari instruktur. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperluas program pelatihan ini ke skala yang lebih besar dan mengimplementasikannya pada bidang studi lain yang memerlukan keterampilan laboratorium. Selain itu, penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengevaluasi dampak jangka panjang dari program ini terhadap kinerja akademik dan karir profesional mahasiswa. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model bagi institusi pendidikan lain dalam mengembangkan keterampilan praktis mahasiswa. Developing Student Practical Skills through the Science Laboratory Teaching Equipment Training Program This study aims to enhance the practical skills of Physics Study Program students at Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika through the Science Laboratory Teaching Equipment Training Program. The partners involved in this program are second and fourth-semester students from the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, with a total of 15 students participating. The implementation methods used are In-Service Training (IST) and On-Service Training (OST), which include theoretical sessions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in the laboratory. The results of this program show a significant improvement in students' understanding and practical skills. The pretest scores ranged from 40 to 65, while the posttest scores ranged from 85 to 100. The highest increase in scores was 57 points, and the lowest was 25 points. The N-Gain for all respondents was above 0.7, indicating high effectiveness of the training program. Students' active participation also increased, with 75 responses indicating that their contributions were valued during practice sessions, and 70 responses each for a conducive learning environment and instructor support. The recommendations from this study are to expand this training program to a larger scale and implement it in other fields of study that require laboratory skills. Additionally, further research is needed to evaluate the long-term impact of this program on students' academic performance and professional careers. This program is expected to serve as a model for other educational institutions in developing students' practical skills.

Abstract

Students' awareness of Indonesian culture and traditional knowledge has declined as a result of globalization, Ethnoscience is a teaching strategy that combines conventional wisdom with contemporary ideas. It is considered an efficient teaching method, especially when it comes to teaching science in elementary schools. This research was conducted in three elementary schools located in Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara, while the elementary schools that became the research sites were SD Negeri 15 Mataram, SD Negeri 19 Mataram, and SD Negeri 20 Mataram. The type of research used is Descriptive Qualitativ. The samples in this research are 4th and 5th grade teachers with a total of 6 teachers. The results of the study state that ethnoscience-based science learning design can be applied to several science learning materials, the application of ethnoscience-based science learning has gone well. Each school conducts evaluation activities with the aim of being a forum for teachers to convey complaints and opinions related to ethnoscience-based learning.

Abstract

The complexity of science concepts which are interrelated with each other requires the competence to think systematically. Complex thinking which is the basis for critical, analytical, creative and metacognitive thinking is very important to master in responding to the challenges of the 21st century. The aim of this research is to explore students' thinking systems taught using the STEM-PjBL model. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The variables studied are students' thinking systems based on the ability to determine components that influence each other in the bioethanol synthesis and dehydrator processes. The population in the study was 17 students. Students are distributed in two semesters, namely semesters II and IV. The research uses pre-test and post-test systematic thinking ability tests as data collection techniques and tools. The test consists of 5 essay questions that assess students' systematic thinking competence, and the test used is analyzed for validity, discrimination power, and level of difficulty before use. This test was developed based on indicators of systematic thinking competency. Tests were given to students before and after carrying out project activities for making and dehydrating bioethanol. After carrying out the project, students strengthen their competence through computational simulations related to the project being carried out. The data obtained is then presented in a communicative graph. The research results showed that 35.2% had high system thinking, 29% medium, 35.6% low. These results show that the application of the STEM-PjBL model is able to foster students' systematic thinking competency.

Abstract

Despite extensive research on mathematics within universities, yet exploration of alternative solutions for challenges students faced during mathematics lectures was limited. Particularly, integrating mobile technology assistance via didactical design research received little attention. Therefore, researchers tried to describe the role of mobile technology in supporting mathematics lectures at an Indonesian university. Didactic design research was the method used in this research. Participants comprised 53 students aged 18–25 years. The main research tools included the researcher, a math comprehension test, an in-depth interview guide, and a hybrid mathematics module with mobile technology support. Thematic analysis uncovered learning barriers, while lecture data underwent qualitative and retrospective analysis. The findings were low mastery of prerequisites, carelessness, and a limited context for lecture. The hybrid module was able to minimize mathematics student learning obstacles in higher education. This research recommends lecturers facilitate problem-based activities with mobile technology to enhance students competencies in higher education. Cukup banyak penelitian yang mengkaji matematika di universitas, tetapi eksplorasi mengenai solusi alternatif terhadap tantangan yang dihadapi mahasiswa selama kuliah matematika masih terbatas. Khususnya, pengintegrasian teknologi seluler melalui penelitian desain didaktis kurang mendapat perhatian. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mencoba untuk mendeskripsikan peran teknologi seluler dalam mendukung kuliah matematika pada sebuah universitas di Indonesia. Didactical design research merupakan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Pertisipan terdiri dari 53 mahasiswa berusia 18–25 tahun. Instrumen utama adalah peneliti, tes pemahaman matematika, panduan wawancara mendalam, dan modul matematika hibrida dengan dukungan teknologi seluler. Analisis tematik digunakan untuk mengkaji hambatan belajar, sementara data perkuliahan dianalisis menggunakan kombinasi antara analisis kualitatif dan retrospektif. Temuan penelitian ini adalah penguasaan prasyarat yang rendah, kecerobohan, dan konteks perkuliahan yang terbatas. Modul hibrida mampu meminimalkan hambatan belajar mahasiswa matematika di pendidikan tinggi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kepada dosen untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan berbasis masalah dengan teknologi seluler untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa di pendidikan tinggi.

Abstract

Students who are prospective teachers must adapt to the development of digital technology, especially its use in education. They are taught teaching practices with their peers before going directly into the field, as well as how to create learning tools. This research aims to analyze the ability of prospective teachers to develop student worksheets (LKPD) that foster 21st-century skills. This study is a qualitative descriptive research involving 14 student teachers as subjects. Data collection was conducted using assessment sheets. The results of the study indicate that (1) the LKPD created by the prospective teachers had an average score of 3.28, categorized as high; (2) the critical thinking aspect had an average score of 3.32, categorized as high; communication had an average score of 3.41, categorized as high; collaboration had an average score of 3.45, categorized as high; and creativity and innovation had an average score of 2.95, categorized as moderate. This shows that the prospective teachers are quite proficient in developing LKPD that build 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Semakin tinggi mutu kegiatan belajar siswa, diharapkan hasil belajarnya semakin baik dan banyaknya masalah belajar yang dialami siswa memungkinkan rendahnya perolehan hasil belajar siswa. Banyaknya masalah belajar siswa cenderung meningkat dari tahun ke tahun. Kategori masalah keterampilan belajar dan kondisi diri selalu menduduki posisi dominan. Skor mutu kegiatan belajar mengajar mereka rendah dan cenderung menurun dari tahun ke tahun. MA Hidayatussibyan NW Sengkerang, merupakan sekolah yang jauh dari ibu kota provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat, memiliki kelebihan dan keterbatasan segi sarana dan prasarana, maupun sumberdaya pendidik dan peserta didik, sumber daya yang dimiliki perlu dikembangkan dan terus ditingkatkan, keterbatasan menjadi penyemangat untuk terus berbenah sehingga cita-cita sekolah, guru dan harapan orang tua peserta didik dapat tercapai dengan maksimal. Siswa MA Hidayatussibyan NW Sengkerang, memiliki masalah terkait dengan kemandirian, kurang percaya diri, tidak mengetahui tujuan hidupnya, bahkan jika ditanya tentang tujuannya bersekolah kebanyakan menjawab “disuruh orang tua”. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan kegiatan pelatihan atau workshop terkait dengan kemandirian dan perencanaan masa depan, sehingga mereka siap dalam menentukan langkah hidupnya dan bertanggungjawab atas konsekuensi tindakan yang dilakukan. Hal ini penting, menyadari bahwa jutaan anak Indonesia banyak yang putus sekolah sejak usia wajib belajar yang direncanakan, mulai dari tingkat sekolah dasar, sekolah menengah pertama dan selanjutnya pada sekolah menengah atas dan yang sederajat. Termasuk didalamnya lulusan sarjana terbaik menganggur. Adapun metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan ini dimulai dengan: penyampaian materi, diskusi, penugasan, FGD, dan evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan.

Abstract

Sebagai salah satu lembaga pendidikan yang mendidik calon guru Matematika, Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FSTT Undikma perlu berperan serta dalam membantu permasalahan keterbatasan guru  dalam membimbing OSN khususnya bidang matematika SD. Berdasarkan studi pendahuluan tentang kemampuan mahasiswa Pendidikan Matematika UNDIKMA dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika, ternyata masih kurang dalam pemahaman startegi penyelesaian maslah dan penyelesaiannya. Dalam upaya menyiapkan mahasiswa Prodi pendidikan matematika sebagai calon pembimbing perlu melakukan pembinaan dalam hal Strategi Penyelesaian Masalah OSN Matematika SD, dan Pemantapan materi OSN matematika SD yang terdiri atas materi: geometri, teori bilangan, kombinatorik, Eksplorasi, Statistik dan Peluang. Tahapan-tahapan yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian ini meliputi 1) Identifikasi masalah, 2) Pelatihan Strategi Penyelesaian Masalah OSN Matematika SD, 3) Pemantapan materi OSN matematika SD yang terdiri atas materi: geometri, teori bilangan, kombinatorik, Eksplorasi, Statistik dan Peluang, dan 4) Evaluasi Hasil Kegiatan, peserta juga diberikan pre test dan post test untuk melihat peningkatan pemahaman. Metode penyampaian materi yang digunakan adalah metode ceramah dan diskusi Dalam Jaringan (Daring) melalui zoom Meeting. Hasil pengabdian 1) Mahasiswa mengenal dan memahami tentang soal-soal OSN Matematika SD dan bagaimana menyelesaikannya, 2) Terdapat peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap materi OSN Matematika SD yang ditandai dengan hasil tes akhir yang lebih baik dari hasil tes awal, 3) Mahasiswa telah berlatih dengan semangat dan berani untuk menjadi  pendamping OSN Matematika SD dengan segala keterbatasan pengetahuan tentang materi olimpiade, 4) Guru-guru bersemangat dan berkomitmen untuk menjadi pendamping OSN Matematika SD sambil tetap belajar materi olimpiade
