Abstract

This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing research on the impact of capital structure on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study synthesizes and analyzes findings from various studies to identify key trends, gaps, and areas for future research. The SLR covers factors influencing SMEs' capital structure decisions, including internal factors like company size, profitability, and growth opportunities, and external factors such as market conditions, industry characteristics, and regulatory environment. Our findings reveal that the capital structure significantly affects SMEs' financial performance and sustainability. Debt financing offers growth potential but increases financial risk, while equity financing provides stability and reduces risk but dilutes ownership. The optimal mix of debt and equity varies based on specific SME characteristics and external conditions. Additionally, the capital structure influences SMEs' ability to attract external financing and impacts their overall growth and profitability. The review also highlights the need for more focused research on the determinants of capital structure in SMEs, the role of external financing sources, and the relationship between capital structure and firm performance over time. Longitudinal studies and investigations into macroeconomic factors' impact on SMEs' capital structure decisions are recommended for future research.

Abstract

Approaches, strategies, and methods are significant elements that highly divine the successful teaching and learning process. Having been concerned with two different teaching approaches, this research study aimed to explore the comparison between the Genre-Based Approach (GBA) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) implementation in English subjects for junior high school students. This research used a comparative descriptive study located at MTs Negeri 1 Malang and MTs Negeri 2 Malang. In-depth interviews and direct observations were two primary data collection techniques in this research. The data analysis was conducted using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The findings revealed key distinctions in implementation: GBA at MTsN 1 Malang followed four stages (BKoF, MoT, JCoT, and ICoT) with modifications like peer-review activities and interactive modeling, which enhanced students' listening, writing, speaking, and collaboration skills. In contrast, PBL at MTsN 2 Malang emphasized critical thinking through authentic problem-solving tasks in five stages, including guided investigations, group presentations, and reflections, which fostered critical thinking, communication, and cooperation. Both methods were effective in improving English skills and fostering collaboration, though GBA focused more on building individual understanding, while PBL prioritized problem-solving and group interaction.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is a national initiative to strengthen human resource quality, yet its success depends on schools’ capacity to plan, manage, and sustain implementation. This community engagement program aims to build the institutional capacity of SMP Negeri 7 Jember in planning and executing MBG, enhancing nutrition literacy among teachers, students, and parents, and fostering a sustainable collaboration model with relevant stakeholders. Using a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach with a Plan–Act–Observe–Reflect cycle, the activities included baseline mapping of nutrition management, development of an action plan, training and mentoring for MBG SOP formulation, implementation of healthy eating practices, and reflective sessions for sustainability planning. The program resulted in improved managerial capacity, as evidenced by the development and initial application of MBG SOPs, stronger internal coordination, and increased nutrition knowledge, based on pre- and post–training scores. Parental involvement strengthened alignment between school and home practices, supporting the emergence of a healthy nutrition culture.

Abstract Multicultural education in elementary schools plays a strategic role in shaping students’ character from an early age, particularly through the integration of local wisdom. This study explores the role of local wisdom in shaping the multicultural character of students at MI Mamba’ul Ulum, Curahputih, Tegalwangi Village, Umbulsari District, Jember. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and students; observations of learning processes and extracurricular activities; and school documentation analysis. Data were analyzed using Miles & Huberman’s model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that local wisdom, such as values of mutual cooperation, tolerance, togetherness, and respect for differences, was effectively integrated into both classroom learning and non-formal activities. Students demonstrated positive development in appreciating diversity, both in classroom interactions and in their daily lives. These findings are consistent with recent studies emphasizing the importance of local wisdom–based education in strengthening multicultural attitudes. Abstract

This study examines the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Good Corporate Governance (GCG) on market response, with corporate reputation as a moderating variable. The research focuses on property sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2023 period, using a purposive sample of 13 firms. A quantitative approach is employed, applying multiple linear regression and moderated regression analysis (MRA) to test both direct and interaction effects. CSR is measured based on disclosures aligned with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) indicators and Financial Services Authority (POJK) regulations, while GCG is proxied by managerial ownership. Market response is assessed using cumulative abnormal return (CAR), and corporate reputation is evaluated through indicators of public visibility and corporate image. The findings reveal that CSR has a positive and significant effect on market response, indicating that social responsibility disclosures provide favorable signals to investors. Conversely, GCG does not significantly influence market response, suggesting that governance mechanisms have not yet become a primary consideration for investors in the property sector. Corporate reputation is found to strengthen the relationship between CSR and market response, but it does not moderate the relationship between GCG and market response. These results highlight the strategic role of corporate reputation in enhancing the market impact of CSR activities. The study contributes to the development of legitimacy and agency theories in the Indonesian capital market and provides practical implications for companies, regulators, and investors in integrating non-financial information into investment and governance decisions

Abstract

This study examines the influence of asset quality, sustainability, and risk management on financial distress in banks registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) during the 2020–2023 period. Asset quality is measured by Non Performing Loans (NPL), sustainability by Green Loans, and risk management by the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR). A quantitative explanatory research method using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis was employed to test the direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The results indicate that NPL and Green Loans do not have a significant direct effect on financial distress but do influence risk management. Risk management itself does not directly affect financial distress but acts as an intervening variable that strengthens the relationship between sustainability and financial distress. Practical implications emphasize the importance of strengthening the integration of sustainability principles into risk management and developing more proactive asset quality management strategies to maintain banks' financial stability. This study provides theoretical and practical contributions to banking risk management and forms the basis for recommendations for regulators, bank management, and future research.
