Abstract

This study examines the influence of autonomous motivation and professional competence on the performance of Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers through the mediating role of self-efficacy in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic Junior High Schools) across Central Lampung Regency, Indonesia. The study addresses the limited integrative research combining motivational, professional, and psychological factors in explaining teacher performance within the context of Islamic education, particularly among Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers who carry pedagogical, moral, and spiritual responsibilities. Using a quantitative survey design conducted from June 2025 to April 2026, the study involved 98 certified Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers selected through total sampling techniques. Data were collected through validated Likert-scale questionnaires distributed online via Google Forms and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that autonomous motivation and professional competence significantly improve teacher performance both directly and indirectly through self-efficacy. Self-efficacy significantly mediated the relationship between autonomous motivation and teacher performance (β = 0.308; T = 2.549; p = 0.011), indicating that teachers with stronger intrinsic motivation and greater confidence in their teaching abilities demonstrate higher professional performance, adaptability, and commitment in instructional practices. Conversely, controlled motivation did not significantly influence teacher performance through self-efficacy (β = 0.008; T = 0.106; p = 0.916). This study contributes an integrative empirical model linking motivational quality, professional competence, and efficacy beliefs in improving teacher performance within Islamic education contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the epistemological structure and pedagogical challenges of tafsīr instruction at Dayah Istiqamatuddin Darul Mu’arrif, Aceh Besar. The research addresses the problem of epistemic limitation resulting from the exclusive reliance on Tafsīr al-Jalālayn and its commentary, Ḥāshiyah al-Ṣāwī, within the tafsīr curriculum of the dayah. This study specifically asks how the use of a single authoritative text influences students’ interpretive competence and the formation of contemporary mufassirīn in the context of modern Qur’anic studies. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with seven purposively selected informants consisting of dayah leaders, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that traditional pedagogical methods such as talaqqī and tikrār strengthen sanad-based knowledge transmission and preserve traditional scholarly authority. However, the exclusive dependence on a single tafsīr text limits students’ comparative hermeneutical perspectives, restricts methodological exploration, and contributes to the restriction of interpretive agency. The study further identifies limited instructional time, restricted access to broader references, and the absence of independent instruction in ‘ulūm al-tafsīr as significant obstacles in developing critical interpretive competence. This study concludes that curriculum reconstruction through the integration of comparative tafsīr studies and broader access to scholarly resources is necessary to balance the preservation of traditional Islamic scholarship with the demands of contemporary analytical and contextual Qur’anic interpretation.

Abstract

The dynamic regulatory landscape presents significant challenges for International Standard Schools (SBI) in Indonesia, impacting their ability to meet global educational standards while integrating local cultural values. This study aims to explore the regulatory challenges faced by SBIs and their implications for educational quality and cultural integration. The method used is library research, which involves reviewing relevant literature and studies on regulations and the implementation of international standard programs. The findings reveal that although SBIs strive to provide high-quality education and facilities in line with international standards, they are often hindered by fluctuating regulations and inadequate financial support. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of a consistent and supportive regulatory framework, sustainable funding sources, and the adoption of an inclusive curriculum that respects local cultural values. These insights offer valuable implications for policymakers, educational institutions, and stakeholders, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to enhance the stability and effectiveness of SBIs in Indonesia. By addressing these challenges, SBIs can better fulfill their role in providing internationally competitive education while preserving Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study explores the contribution of the Qur'an to the development of mathematics in the history of Islamic civilization, particularly during the Golden Age of Islam (8th to 14th centuries CE). The Qur'an served as a source of inspiration for Muslim scholars in advancing mathematics through spiritual and philosophical values, such as hisab (calculation), mizan (balance), and the orderliness of nature. This research employs a historical-thematic approach by analyzing Qur'anic verses and the scientific works of prominent figures such as Al-Khwarizmi, Al-Biruni, and Ibn Sina. The findings reveal that the teachings of the Qur'an encouraged innovations and advancements in mathematics that were not only technical but also spiritually oriented. This contribution played a significant role in laying the foundation for modern mathematics and providing an intellectual legacy to global civilization.
