Abstract

Obesity is one of risk factors for heart failure in both men and women. Paradoxically, recent studies have shown that high BMIs in heart failure patients were asssociated with better outcomes. This study was aimed to prove the effect of body mass index on mortality and readmission in heart failure patients in cardiovascular outpatient care unit at Dr. Soetomo Surabaya Hospital. The research design was observational analytical study. Subjects consisted of all patients with heart disease in cardiovascular outpatient care unit at Dr. Soetomo Surabaya Hospital that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Through the purposive sampling, 59 patients diagnosed with heart failure were selected. Direct measurements of body weight and height were conducted in February through March 2014 to calculate the BMIs. Based on their BMIs, subjects were then placed into two categories, which were patients with normal and elevated BMIs. Information on deaths and readmissions were gathered in October 2014. The relationship between two variables were then analyzed using Fisher Exact Test. After 8 months of follow up, 5 people (8.5%) died of cardiovascular cause and 7 (11.9%) were re-admitted to the hospital. Among 28 patients with normal BMIs, 3 (10.7%) died and 3 (10.7%) were re-admitted. Among 31 patients with elevated BMIs, 2 (6.5%) died and 4 (12.9%) were re-admitted to the hospital. By using Fisher Exact Test, it was shown that there is no effect of BMI on mortality (p=0.661) and readmission (p=1.000) in heart failure patients.

Abstract

Potential mechanisms of caffeine promote large artery stiffness and associated with increased morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular disease. To find the difference of blood pressure and arterial stiffness after intake of arabica and robusta coffee in controlled hypertension, a quasi-experimental study was done enrolling 24 controlled hypertension and 24 normotensive subjects collected by purposive sampling. Subjects received ± 10,6 g caffeinated coffee in 150 ml water with crossover protocol twice in 5 days. The assessment of arterial stiffness by obtaining ultrasound 2D image of common carotid artery then was calculated with beta stiffness index. Blood pressure and arterial stiffness was measured before coffee intake and again at 30 to 60 minutes thereafter. In controlled hypertension, significant differences were found between initial systolic blood pressure (SBP), 30 and 60 minutes after arabica (p 0,002) and robusta (p 0,012) intake; between diastolic blood pressure (DBP), 30 and 60 minutes after of arabica (p 0,004) and robusta (p 0,025) oral administration; and between initial beta stiffness index, 30 and 60 minutes after arabica (p 0,018) oral administration. However, no significant difference was found between initial beta stiffness index, 30 and 60 minutes after robusta (p 0,104) oral administration. No significant difference was found in all variables after arabica and robusta intake. Significant differences were found in blood pressure after arabica or robusta intake and in arterial stiffness after arabica intake. However, no significant differences were found in arterial stiffness after robusta intake and in all variables after arabica and robusta intake.

Abstract

With the increasing population, residential land is becoming more limited, including accommodations such as boarding houses, which are commonly used by students, including design students. Observation of design students at Telkom University revealed that the average size of boarding house rooms ranges from 9-12 m², equipped with facilities like wardrobes, bathrooms, and floor desks to support studying. However, these conditions pose challenges for design students due to their specific activities, such as sketching, using laptops or PCs, and creating mockups or models. The lack of supporting facilities in such limited spaces can hinder the productivity of design students. Furthermore, preliminary data shows that design students have a high level of mobility in terms of relocating residences, requiring an ergonomic work desk that can support their activities and mobility within limited space and access. Therefore, an ergonomic work desk with a knockdown system is needed to enhance flexibility and adaptability in constrained spaces and access, supporting the activities and mobility of design students. This research employs a qualitative approach with the User-Centered Design methodology. Data collection techniques include interviews, participant observation, questionnaires, documentation, and literature reviews. The study resulted in a work desk designed with ergonomic dimensions and a knockdown system to accommodate the specific activities of design students within limited space and mobility constraints.

Abstract

The increasing population has an impact on limited land, especially boarding houses for students. The room size for residential boarding houses is limited so that supporting facilities such as tables and chairs are readjusted. Lesehan tables are often used as furniture options for most student boarding houses, due to their simple shape and affordable prices. However, this is not supported by the ability of the lesehan table to accommodate the ergonomic needs of the user's sitting, which if it lasts long and repetitive will result in musculoskeletal disorder. Therefore, the design of ergonomic lesehan chairs is needed for student productivity and health. The research method used is a mix method starting with direct observation of boarding houses around Bandung, literacy studies related to ergonomics, anthropometry and sitting on the floor. The design method is UCD where the user's problems are solved by prioritizing their needs. The results obtained with this design can reduce pain in several parts of the body, can support student learning productivity and to minimize musculoskeletal disorder.

Abstract

Improving the quality of the assessment system is one of the initiatives aimed at improving educational standards. A strong learning framework will produce high-quality education, encourage educators to develop effective teaching strategies, and inspire students to engage in their learning more effectively. Measurement, assessment, assessment and evaluation each have a different scope and focus. The method in this research is a literature study which is used to analyze literature relevant to the research topic. This research does this by analyzing literature related to the concepts of measurement, evaluation and assessment in Islamic Religious Education. The scope of assessment is shorter and is usually only limited to one element, such as student achievement, student activity and so on. In addition, assessments are carried out and used by individuals involved or part of the system in question. A broader evaluation covers all system components, such as the education system, curriculum and learning. This can be done by internal and external evaluation. In essence, student learning outcomes are categorized into three areas: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. It is hoped that teachers can develop this area well in every lesson. Evaluation activities were carried out to determine the development of these three fields.

Abstract

This Community Service Writing (PKM) discusses the development of a field lecture program to Batusangkar, a historic area with rich Minangkabau culture and strong Islamic values. This program is part of an effort to increase students' understanding of Islam and Minangkabau Culture at the West Sumatra Islamic Institute (IAI). The method used in this service is participatory action research. The service team consists of West Sumatra IAI lecturers and students who are involved in program planning, implementation and evaluation. For two days, 92 students from 6 study programs were invited to take part in field lecture activities that were integrated with material on Islam and Minangkabau Culture. The results of this program 1. show an increase in student understanding of Islamic values ??and Minangkabau culture. 2. During field studies, students are able to directly interact with the local community, visit historical places, and explore various aspects of Minangkabau culture and traditions. 3. Through discussion and reflection, students succeed in instilling Islamic values ??in the local cultural context. In addition, this field lecture program also has a positive impact on the Pagaruyung community. With the student visits, the local community is more open to share their knowledge and experiences about Islam and their culture. The active involvement of the community also helps in mutual learning between students and the community. Although this program provides significant benefits, there are some challenges encountered during its implementation. Among them are budget constraints, logistics, and coordination with related parties. Therefore, it is suggested that this program continues to be developed and supported by all relevant parties to achieve more optimal results.
