Abstract

The judicial institution in a country is very strategic and decisive one for being used to resolve all public disputes and punish those who violate the law in accordance with the emering rules. This judicial institution is needed in an effort to answer and solve all social problems along with the development and the dynamics in the community. A judge is an authority aimed at resolving the various conflicts and creating justice for the community, and judges are leading actors in solving the problems. Therefore judges in acting and taking decisions must be based on so-called ijtihad. The phenomenon of women's involvement as judges in administering judicial power in the Religious Courts has undergone several phases of change. This condition is strongly influenced by the striking discrepancy of fiqh viewpoints about the religious (syar'i) legality  in looking at women in the public sphere, especially in the judiciary. One of the reasons of Muslim scholars in questioning the female judges is due to their duties and responsibilities. On this stand, the Muslim scholars, thingkers and mujtahid have their own points of view that are different from one another. This refusal does not mean ignoring the judicial institution, but rather they consider it fardhu kifayah. Therefore, what is to be revealed in this study is the Islamic law and Indonesian positive law perspectives about female judges. This study concludes that the study of female judges in the perspectives of Islamic law is polarized on several permitting and prohibiting poles and the ones permitting women to serve as judges are only in their involvement in civil cases not in criminal ones. While based on the perspective of Indonesian positive law the female judges are a must in the legal treasures in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus requires aggressive long-term therapy to decrease morbidity and mortality. Non-adherence to oral antidiabetic therapy represents a barrier to treatment that could lead to the deterioration of patient health. This study aimed to develop an indicator for predicting glycemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: This unmatched case-control study recruited 110 patients from the Primary Health Care center in Palembang City. The chi-square test was used for certain variables, and multivariate analysis was performed using unconditional logistic regression to assess the effects of different variables after considering certain sociodemographic and economic characteristics as potential confounding variables. Results: The results revealed no statistically significant association of sociodemographic and economic variables (sex, age, education, and employment) with glycemic control. Family history of diabetes, duration of diabetes, body mass index, adherence, monitoring, therapy, and comorbidity were associated with glycemic control. Conclusions: Continuous education of primary care physicians is one way of improving skills for managing hyperglycemic patients. However, the challenge in treating patients with type 2 diabetes is to shift the main criterion from a disease-oriented to patient-centered approach in the context of patients' circumstances. Additionally, our developed indicator can be used as a screening test for assessing glycemic.

Abstract

The demand for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly municipal solid waste (MSW) processing has increased in developing countries. The thermochemical process offers a fast and reliable solution to reutilize or reduce the volume of MSW. Hydrothermal treatment is a novel MSW treatment technology that is compatible with high-moisture-content feedstock. It involves the thermal degradation of MSW in pressurized water or steam, which promotes the disintegration of cellulosic and polymer materials. Recent advances have shown effective MSW conversion into homogenous solid hydrochar with higher energy density. Alkali and chlorine content, which causes issues in combustors, was successfully removed due to the washing effect of hydrothermal treatment. The possibility of activated carbon production also exists because the surface area is significantly increased after the treatment. This paper presents an overview of the latest development of hydrothermal treatment in the field of post-consumer waste and MSW treatment, with particular focus on the operating conditions and physicochemical characteristics of the hydrochar. Several experimental results from post-consumer waste feedstock were compiled and interpreted using principal component analysis to observe the effect of different operating conditions and feedstock during the hydrothermal process.

Abstract

The used of electricity from year to year is increasing. One of the alternative to power plants with abundant availability is wood waste. The aims of this study is to: (1) design a wood waste PLTU prototype as an alternative biomass-based energy resource and an effort to reduce wood waste, (2) describe the calorific value, the resulting electrical voltage, and the duration of the lamp flame generated from wood waste fuel. Teak (Tectona grandis), surian wood waste (Toona sureni), and a mixture of both. This descriptive research includes 3 stages, which is analysis, design, and testing. Through this research, a prototype of a wood waste steam power plant was successfully designed by utilizing biomass waste fuel. The results showed that the calorific value, the resulting electrical voltage, and the resistance time of the lamp varied in the wood samples used. This indicates that the wood samples used have the potential to be used as an alternative to biomass-based energy resources.

Abstract

This library research intends to identify the foundation and pattern of the Islamic tolerance paradigm that is made by KH. Ahmad Shiddiq in responding to life of life in Indonesia. This type of normative-philosophical research uses the theory of analysis in the form of a typology of religious attitudes (exclusivism, inclusivism, pluralism, eclectism, and universalism). The five typology will be used to identify the foundation and pattern of Ahmad Shiddiq’s paradigm about Islamic tolerance. This research data collection technique uses documentation techniques. Data analysis of this study through three stages in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study concluded that the foundation of the Islamic tolerance paradigm KH. Ahmad Shiddiq in responding to the pluralism of the life of the Indonesian people can be found in the two big ideas that he made, namely the idea of ukhuwah and society. In this case, there is a tendency for the pattern of the Epistemological Exclusivism of KH. Ahmad Shiddiq, namely making the foundation of the Islamic teachings in formulating the idea of ukhuwah in the form of Islamic values of Islamiah, Ukhuwah Watonis, and Ukhuwah Basyariah. Meanwhile, the foundation of Islamic teachings in the idea of society in the form of the value of tasamuh, tawasuth, tawazun, and amar makruf nahi munkar. Whereas in the axiological aspects there is a tendency of KH. Ahmad Shiddiq universalism, which is in the objectivity of the idea of ukhuwah and society in the reality of pluralism in Indonesia through various attitudes. First, the accommodation attitude, in the form of willingness to accommodate a variety of opinions (aspiration) from various parties. Second, selective attitude, which is to sort out which is useful and not useful. Third, integrative attitude, namely the willingness to harmonize, record and balance the variety of individual interests, minority groups and majority.

Abstract

Abstract, this paper aims to map how historical facts about pluralism in the Medina era (prophetic era) occurred?, and to what extent did the scholars' discussions about pluralism in this era emerge. The reality of pluralism does not only occur in the area of culture, but this reality also occurs in the area of religion and ethnicity. However, if this plurality is not managed properly, it will result in conflict and conflict between existing groups and between religions. An understanding of singular claims in some of the matters mentioned above (particularly with regard to religion, ethnicity and culture) can affect inharmonious relations in the life of the nation and state of a human being. The understanding that these prophetic events influenced the understanding of Muslims towards the pluralism events that occurred in the Medina era can be used as a basis for Muslims in dealing with the dynamics of pluralistic contemporary life, therefore this study was written. This paper concludes; that Islam and pluralism in the Medina era were mapped into three categories; namely in the field of religion, in the field of ethnicity and ethnicity and in the field of culture. It is this factor that encourages the need to make a charter agreement as one of the wisest efforts to reduce widespread social conflict. Especially if accompanied by strong sanctions for violators. Abstract

This study aims to describe the indicators of sakinah family formation according to KH. Hasyim Asy'ari and its relevance to the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). This qualitative research, in the form of a literature study, uses philosophical norms. The main data source, namely the book Dhau' al-Mishbah fi Bayani Ahkam an-Nikah by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari. Several articles on the KHI are the theory of analysis in this research. The results of the study show that there is a relationship between indicators for the formation of a sakinah family, according to KH. Hasyim Asy'ari with the construction of legal provisions in Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). First, the indicators of compliance with the legal principles, requirements, and pillars of marriage relevant to KHI Articles 4, 16, 20, and 27. It is just that the view of KH. In the first indicator, Hasyim tends to be textual. This is in contrast to the KHI, which is more contextual. Second, the recommendation indicator in choosing a life partner is relevant to KHI Articles 15, 16, 17, and 61. In this case, the criteria for the recommendation to choose a partner by the KH. Hasyim covers various aspects including religion, physical, lineage, economy, psychological, and social status. Third, the indicator understands the principles of the purpose and benefits of marriage relevant to Articles 2 and 3. Third, the indicator is to build a good partnership in carrying out the rights and obligations of husbands and wives that are relevant to KHI Article 80. However, regarding the duties or obligations of the wife, KH. Hasyim is more detailed than the KHI. The theoretical implications of this research show indicators of the formation of a sakinah family from the viewpoint of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari is relevant and can be the basis for formulas in the development and renewal of Islamic marriage laws in Indonesia. The limitation of this research is that it has not studied in depth the heurmenetic aspects of the construction of the views of KH. Hasyim is related to four indicators of sakinah family formation.

Abstract

This study endeavors to explore the multifaceted nature of women's double burden within the family framework, delving into the intersection of cultural norms, discriminatory practices, and gender perspectives that contribute to gender injustice. Employing a library research methodology encompassing books, articles, journals, news, and papers, this research adopts descriptive-analytical methods coupled with gender-focused approaches. The findings underscore a prevalent societal phenomenon where one gender shoulders a disproportionately heavier workload compared to the other, leading to a situation of double burden. Despite contemporary perceptions normalizing women's participation in the workforce, cultural constraints persist, perpetuating the dual responsibilities borne by women and perpetuating gender injustice. For women unencumbered by stringent cultural norms, barriers to employment persist due to various factors such as economic constraints and limited educational opportunities. To alleviate discrimination and mitigate double burden within households, several strategies emerge. First, dispelling the notion that work is solely a male domain is crucial. Second, fostering mutual agreements between spouses in distributing daily responsibilities can mitigate discrimination and uphold equitable commitments. Additionally, the establishment of women's advocacy groups in both rural and urban settings is pivotal. Social campaigns emphasizing equality play a vital role in eradicating injustice. Enforcing stringent penalties for offenders coupled with preventive measures aims to raise awareness among potential perpetrators. Ultimately, addressing women's double burden necessitates societal efforts to eliminate discrimination, fostering household harmony, and nurturing prosperity. Embracing gender equality and redefining societal roles are imperative steps toward realizing a fairer, more equitable future within familial settings.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze and find the differences and similarities between the texts of the Qur'an and the Bible. One of them is the comparison of the Qur'an and the Bible about the creation of the universe. The method used is library research by using the intertextuality theory approach initiated by Julia Krsiteva to compare the Qur'an and the Bible. The results of this study show three principles of similarities and differences in the intertextuality of al-Qur'an and al-Kitab. First, the principle of haplology in Surah Al-Fussilat verse 11 explains the creation of the heavens and the earth, which is simpler than the explanation in the Bible. Second, the excerpt principle found in Surah Al-Anbiya:30 with the Bible 1:6 explains the beginning of the universe as a solid unity, then separated as it is today, namely the existence of the heavens and the earth. Third, the parallel principle regarding the similarity between texts in terms of themes and thoughts, such as in Surah Al-Baqarah:117 and the Bible 1:1-2. Both discuss and emphasize the theological side of understanding the verse of the creation of the universe. The fundamental difference lies in the details of the phases of the creation of the universe and the detailed order in which the creation of the universe took place.
