Abstract

Improving effective communication is the second point in patient safety targets. Based on initial data, effective communication at RSU X Padang City in its implementation has not reached the target of 100% and the weakness of this hospital is that risk management has not been implemented properly. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of effective communication by strengthening risk management in the inpatient ward of RSU X Padang City. This study used a qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach. Researchers conducted semi-structured interviews with 16 informants, document reviews, and observations. The results of the study showed that the role of HR factors in effective communication was not optimal, cooperation within the unit was quite good, the role of management and the hospital environment was not optimal, the role of risk management was not optimal, and the impact of effective communication could improve the achievement of IMP-RS, facilitate the delivery of patient conditions, and minimize errors in providing therapy or medication to patients so that patient quality and safety are guaranteed. It is recommended that the implementation of effective communication always be improved with improvement efforts, namely completing facilities and infrastructure, implementing socialization and training, monitoring and evaluation, and implementing risk management programs.

Abstract

Non-compliance with taking medication in DM patients can reduce a person's quality of life and become the main cause of a number of microvascular problems. Therefore, complex problems related to diabetes are one of the global health problems that must be addressed immediately. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors related to medication compliance in type 2 DM patients. This study used a mixed method study approach or a combination of two types of research, namely quantitative research and qualitative research. The type of mixed method research design used is explanatory sequential design. The sampling method in this study was by proportional sampling. Furthermore, to determine the target sample, a simple random block sampling technique was used, namely 347 DM patients. The results of the analysis showed no significant relationship between gender p-value = 1,000 (> 0.05), education p-value = 0.232 (>, 0.05), knowledge p-value = 0.076 (> 0.05), dxuration of suffering p-value = 0.162 (> 0.05), belief p-value = 0.680 (> 0.05), access to health services p-value = 0.602 (> 0.05), and there was a significant relationship between family support and DM treatment compliance with p-value = 0.020 (<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that more than half of DM patients have low treatment compliance, are female, have low education, have a duration of <5 years, have access to health that takes a long time, and lack of family support. More than half of DM patients have high knowledge and positive beliefs.

Abstract

Healthcare-associated infections are a global health challenge, not only as a patient safety issue but also as a major driver of antimicrobial resistance. Efforts to prevent and minimize the occurrence of healthcare-associated infections are called infection prevention and control (IPC). The Emergency Department (ED) has the potential for healthcare-associated infections. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge levels and the implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in the Emergency Department of Community Health Centers in Padang City. This study used a mixed method research method, which combines quantitative and qualitative research types in one research activity with an explanatory sequential design. The population in this study were all healthcare workers working in the Emergency Department of the Padang City Community Health Center, with a sample of 55 people. The study was conducted in February 2024. The results found that 69.1% of respondents were under 46 years old, 96.4% were female, and 72.7% had a D3 educational background. A total of 61.8% had high knowledge. Compliance with PPI implementation was recorded at 38.2%. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and compliance with the implementation of PPI, health workers in the Emergency Department of the Community Health Center with high knowledge are 4.25 times more likely to comply with implementing PPI. Recommendations for improving compliance with PPI implementation are to formulate PPI policies, implement PPI education and training, and strengthen the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

One of the national indicators of hospital quality is compliance with doctor's visit time, the achievement of the National Quality Index (INM) at the inpatient installation of Tk. III dr. This study is aimed at analyzing the adherence to doctor's visit time at the inpatient installation of Tk. III Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang Hospital. The research used the mixed method method, the first stage was quantitative research with stratified random sampling techniques, then qualitative research was carried out with in-depth interviews with 14 informants, field observation and document review. Compliance with the doctor's visit time at the inpatient installation of Tk. III dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang Hospital based on research was obtained at 40%. The causes of non-compliance with doctor's visit time are the lack of the number of organic/permanent specialist doctors and the absence of an alarm to remind the doctor's visit time, the absence of clear regulations related to decrees, SOPs, and doctor's visit policies, the absence of a clear doctor's visit schedule, in addition to the DPJP's lack of understanding of the Regulation of the Minister of Health on visit time and the lack of optimal follow-up from monitoring and evaluating the compliance of doctor's visit time in inpatient installations.
