Abstract

Mathematics learning in secondary schools often encounters obstacles due to the abstract nature of the subject matter and students’ negative perceptions of mathematics as a difficult discipline. This condition demands instructional innovations that not only link concepts to real-life contexts but also employ digital media to strengthen understanding. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) assisted by video on junior high school students’ mathematics achievement, with prior ability considered as a moderating variable. A quasi-experimental method with a 2×2 factorial design was employed. The research population comprised all Grade VII students of SMP Semen Tonasa (N = 179), with two classes selected through cluster random sampling. The instruments included a prior ability test, a multiple-choice mathematics achievement test, and an observation sheet of instructional implementation. All instruments were validated through expert judgment and empirical testing, yielding a reliability coefficient of 0.87, item difficulty indices in the moderate range (0.31–0.70), and most discrimination indices in the good category. The research procedure consisted of preparation (module development, instrument validation, and class assignment), implementation (pretest, CTL with/without video, posttest), and reporting. Data were analyzed using Two-Way ANOVA after meeting the assumptions of normality (Kolmogorov–Smirnov, p > 0.05) and homogeneity (Levene’s Test, p > 0.05).

Abstract

This study aims to identify and explain relevant verses of the Qur'an to be integrated into mathematics learning. We used a systematic literature review method to identify and to analyze previous studies. In this study, we collected relevant articles and then the articles were analyzed using a qualitative approach based on a content analysis. We successfully selected 10 research articles on the integration of the Qur'an verses in mathematics learning. The results of the study revealed that many mathematical concepts such as numbers, sets, geometry, sequence, logic, social arithmetic, and linear equation in one variable were found to be relevant to some Qur'an verses. Integrating the Qur'an in mathematics learning can foster students’ learning motivation and characters, such as obedient, fair, honest, and religious. It confirms that connecting mathematics with Islamic context not only enriches the learning process, but also fosters positive values in students and creates a more meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this study is whether the guided discovery method assisted by learning media can improve mathematics learning outcomes in fourth grade students at SDN 14 Turatea. The purpose of this study was to improve mathematics learning outcomes through guided discovery methods assisted by learning media in fourth grade students at SDN 14 Turatea. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles. The subjects in this study were 17 grade IV students at SDN 14 Turatea in the 2022-2023 academic year. Research procedures include planning, implementation of action, observation and reflection. The results showed that in the first cycle of students who completed individually only 10 people or 59% and the average score obtained was 69. Meanwhile in the second cycle where out of 17 students there were 14 people or 82.35% had fulfilled the KKM and the average score -the average obtained was 81.76. Based on the results of this study, it was concluded that the application of the guided discovery method assisted by learning media can improve student learning outcomes in class IV SDN 14 Turatea.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the critical thinking profile of mathematics education students in solving ill-structured problems based on mathematical ability. The critical thinking profile in solving the described ill-structured problem consists of several stages, namely (1) Analyze; (2) Browse; (3) Create; (4) Decision-making; (5) Evaluate; and (6) List or with the term A-B-C-D-E plus L based on critical thinking skills, namely (1) Interpretation; (2) Analysis; (3) Conclusion; (4) Evaluation; (5) Explanation; and (6) Self-regulation. The subjects of this study consisted of one student of mathematics education who had the high mathematical ability and one student of mathematics education who had the moderate mathematical ability. They were interviewed based on the results of the Ill-Structured problem-solving. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. The data obtained were validated, then analyzed with several steps, namely: reduction, data presentation, categorization, interpretation, and inference. The results showed that the mathematics education students carried out critical thinking processes in solving ill-structured problems through six (6) stages, namely: Analyze, Browse, Create, Decision-making, Evaluate, and List or with the term A-B-C-D-E plus L, those which refer to the stages of critical thinking skills, including Interpretation, Analysis, Conclusions, Evaluation, Explanation, and Self-regulation.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by animation media on the learning activities and mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDI Sanging-Sarnging The research method used was a quasi-experimental approach with a non-equivalent group design The population of this study included all fifth-grade students at SDI Sanging-Sanging, with a sample of 25 students from class VA and 25 students from class VB. Data collection was carried out through learning activity questionnaires, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis showed that the average score for mathematics learning activities in the first experimental class was 78.88 while in the second experimental class was 51.88. The average score for student learning outcomes in the first experimental class was 83.88, and in the second experimental class was 63.12. Meanwhile, the inferential statistical analysis shows that the sig value for student learning activities was 0.000 0.05, with a t-value> t- table, namely 10.567 > 1.676. The sig, value for student learning outcomes was 0.000 <0.05, with a t-value of 10.3671.676. Furthermore, the MANOVA test showed a sig value of 0.000 0.05. This means that there is influence of applying the problem- based learning model assisted by animation media on the leaming activities and mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDI Sanging-Sanging.

Abstract

The main problem in this study is the effectiveness of using wordwall media in learning, especially for fifth grade students at SDN 193 Mandalan. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of mathematics learning outcomes using wordwall-based learning media for fifth grade students at SDN 193 Mandalan. The method used was experimental research with a pre-experimental design approach, specifically the one-group pretest-posttest design model. The subjects in this study were all fifth grade students at SDN 193 Mandalan, totaling 12 students. Data were collected through learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest), student activity observation sheets, and student response questionnaires on the use of learning media. The results of this study indicate that the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis approaches. Through descriptive analysis, the average pretest value was 51.66, while the average posttest value reached 81.66. The average posttest value was higher than the pretest. In addition, the average percentage of student activity in using the number board media was 94.41%, which showed a positive response and was categorized as very good, while 18.04% gave a negative response which was categorized as sufficient. The average percentage of student questionnaire responses to the use of wordwall media was recorded at 90.08%, which was categorized as good (positive). Based on inferential statistical analysis, the t-count value was 9.950 with degrees of freedom (df) = 11, at a significance level of 0.05, and the t-table value was 2.201. Because t-count > t-table, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of wordwall-based learning media is effective in increasing knowledge of the material on quadrilaterals in grade V students of SDN 193 Mandalan.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media Mini Book terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa kelas IV UPT SPF SD Inpres Tamamaung 1. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain quasi experimental. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV UPT SPF SD Inpres Tamamaung 1. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah teknik sampling jenuh dengan sampel kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes berupa soal uraian dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media Mini Book terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa berpengaruh positif, kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa dengan penggunaan media Mini Book menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik dari pada sebelum penggunaan media Mini Book dan berpengaruh pada hasil belajar matematikanya. Serta terdapat perbedaan signifikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa pada kelas yang menggunakan media Mini Book dan yang tidak menggunakan media Mini Book.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the spatial abilities of junior high school students based on impulsive and reflective cognitive styles. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research. The instruments used in this study are: MFFT (Matching Familiar Figures Test) test to determine students' cognitive styles. Furthermore, 1 impulsive cognitive style subject and 1 reflective cognitive style subject were found. Then both subjects were given spatial ability tests to determine students' spatial abilities after which interviews were conducted. Indicators of spatial ability, namely: (1) state the position of the elements of a spatial construct., (2) construct and present geometric models drawn on a flat plane in the context of space., (3) imagine the shape or position of a geometric object viewed from a certain point of view., (4) investigate the actual size of the visual stimulus of a geometric object. The results showed that students who were cognitively impulsive had low spatial abilities because they were only able to meet 1 indicator of spatial ability, namely constructing and presenting geometric models drawn on a flat plane in the context of space. While students who are cognitively reflective have high spatial abilities because they are able to meet all indicators of spatial ability.

Abstract

Perangkat pembelajaran sangat penting digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran karena sangat menentukan tujuan yang akan dicapai. Adapun hasil observasi awal yang dilakukan disalah satu sekolah yang ada di Makassar menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar murid belum mencapai ketuntasan klasikal, aktivitas murid sangat kurang dan murid tidak mengetahui konsep dari materi yang diajarkan sehingga dibutuhkan suatu perangkat pembelajaran yang bisa melibatkan murid dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui validitas, praktikalitas dan efektivitas perangkat pembelajaran matematika menggunakan metode discovery learning berbasis GRANDER pada murid kelas VI SD. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model 4-D. Subjek penelitian adalah adalah murid kelas VI A SD Inpres Minasa Upa yang terdiri dari 22 murid sebagai sekolah simulasi, murid kelas VI B SD Inpres Karunrung yang terdiri dari 24 murid dan murid kelas VI A SD Negeri Minasa Upa 1 Kota Makassar yang terdiri dari 24 murid sebagai sekolah uji coba perangkat. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar validasi, angket respon murid, lembar pengamatan keterlaksanaan perangkat pembelajaran, instrumen penilaian hasil belajar, lembar pengamatan aktivitas murid dan lembar pengamatan kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran matematika berbasis GRANDER dinyatakan valid dan reliabel. Perangkat pembelajaran berbasis GRANDER dinyatakan praktis karena dua indikator tercapai yaitu respon murid dan keterlaksanaan perangkat pembelajaran. Perangkat pembelajaran berbasis GRANDER dinyatakan efektif karena tiga indikator tercapai yaitu hasil belajar, aktivitas murid dan kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' critical thinking skills based on introverted personality types in solving spatial problems in solving fifth grade classroom building problems at SD Hartaco Indah Makassar. This research uses descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through tests, questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. This study uses data analysis techniques, which consist of stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Research results Students' critical thinking skills in solving spatial problems are encouraged and sharpened their minds in solving problems by training their minds in solving problems and linking mathematics learning problems with everyday life in a concrete and contextual way. The personality type of introverted students is a personality that is more comfortable with oneself, quiet who is called a closed person, prefers thoughts, concepts, ideas, analysis, prefers to work alone rather than working in groups, tends to be more careful in solving problems and solving problems. mathematics independently.
