Abstract

Value education implemented in the form of student character education is an effort to instill noble values. Student involvement in organizational activities such as student activities units (UKM) aims to shape the character of achievement. This study aims to reveal the driving force for students to join UKM. In turn, activities in UKM make education valuable for the formation of student character based on the value of achievement. As the research method, a qualitative research approach was chosen through the case study method at UKM FKIP Mengajar Lambung Mangkurat University. The result of the study illustrates that students are encouraged to participate in activities because of the need for achievement, power or leadership, and social relationships or interactions with other people and groups. This drive makes the student’s character stronger and can become their provision as agents of change.

Abstract

Developing Pancasila student profile dimensions and 21st-century skills remains a significant challenge in modern education. This study aims to enhance 21st-century skills and strengthen the Pancasila student profile by integrating Project-Based and Problem-Based Learning methodologies grounded in research and community service. A mixed-methods approach was employed, with qualitative data collected from three informants selected through purposive sampling and quantitative data gathered from 68 respondents using total sampling. Data collection methods included questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. Qualitative data is analyzed through the stages of reduction, display, and conclusion, while quantitative data is processed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis through JASP software. Triangulation was applied to ensure the validity of the qualitative data, and statistical tests were used for the quantitative data. The results indicate that integrating project-based and problem-based learning in the Social Sciences Learning course, Research Methods, and Social Statistics significantly enhances the dimensions of the Pancasila student profile while improving 21st-century skills. This study highlights the effectiveness of combining innovative learning models to foster students' character and skill development.

Abstract

Gender equality in higher education is increasingly recognized as a strategic component of sustainable development, encompassing dimensions of access, participation, and academic leadership. This article examines the challenges, opportunities, and strategies for advancing gender equality in universities. Drawing on more than 50 scholarly articles and policy reports from the past decade, retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, the literature spans both Global North and South contexts, with diverse methodologies quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method. The systematic selection process applied inclusion criteria such as peer-reviewed status and topical relevance. A narrative synthesis approach was used to extract key themes, including access, participation, structural barriers, and policy measures. While women’s access to higher education has improved, significant disparities persist, especially in STEM disciplines and academic leadership. Barriers such as gender bias, unequal domestic responsibilities, and limited institutional support remain pervasive. Various interventions including gender training, mentoring, and policy reforms have shown mixed effectiveness across contexts. The findings underscore the importance of multidimensional strategies involving stakeholders, embedding gender equity into institutional culture, and enhancing policy monitoring systems. This review provides evidence-based insights and practical recommendations to foster more inclusive and equitable higher education environments globally.

Abstract

Rekomendasi utama

Abstract

Short semester programs are one of the academic strategies widely implemented in higher education to accelerate study duration and provide opportunities for grade improvement. This study aims to explore the motivations and challenges experienced by students in attending short-semester courses in the Civic Education (PPKn) Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University. A qualitative approach was employed using a phenomenological method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 30 students who participated in the short semester during the 2024/2025 academic year. The results indicate that the primary motivations of students include time efficiency, opportunities for grade improvement, and productive use of vacation periods. On the other hand, the challenges faced include dense course materials, limited study time, and minimal learning interaction. These findings highlight the importance of learning innovation and the development of an adaptive curriculum tailored to the characteristics of short-semester programs. This study recommends the formulation of appropriate teaching strategies and specific academic policies to support successful learning during short semesters.

Abstract

The feasibility study for land acquisition in Bungkukan Village, Kotabaru Regency, is a strategic project to support the development of an urban service center, as regulated by the  Kotabaru Regency Regional Regulation No. 6 of 2025. This research aims to assess the technical, legal, and social feasibility of the project using a socio-legal approach. The specific objectives include identifying the location, area, and status of the required land , evaluating its legal and social feasibility , and analyzing potential social impacts and land conflicts. Key findings indicate that while the project aligns with national spatial and development plans , there is significant potential for conflict due to unclear land ownership status and public concerns regarding compensation processes. The study concludes that it is necessary to conduct a thorough verification of land rights and formulate mitigation strategies that focus on transparent dialogue, fairness, and community participation. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for the Local Government to implement a just and sustainable land acquisition process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of education and training in enhancing the capacity of village government officials in Kotabaru Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, supported by quantitative data from a survey of 200 village officials. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and online questionnaires. The findings indicate that training plays a crucial role in improving the knowledge, skills, and work ethics of village officials, particularly in the areas of development planning and digital administration. The most urgent training needs identified include village potential analysis, the preparation of RPJMDes (Village Medium-Term Development Plans) and RKPDes (Village Government Work Plans), and the utilization of e-Government applications such as Siskeudes and SIPADES. The main obstacles to training implementation are long travel distances, limited funding, and training materials that are not fully relevant to field conditions. The study recommends that local governments design continuous, contextual, and needs-based training programs to promote effective and responsive village governance.

Abstract

This study examines the socio-legal approach to land acquisition for public purposes, focusing on the construction of the Batulicin-Kotabaru Bridge. Land acquisition is often a crucial point in infrastructure development, where legal norms interact with the social realities of the community. This qualitative study uses a socio-legal approach to analyze how the legal framework (Law No. 2 of 2012) is implemented in the field and how social dynamics—such as community perceptions, compensation issues, and deliberation processes—influence the project's success. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with government officials, affected communities, and academics, while secondary data was collected from official documents and related literature. The results show that a socio-legal approach that integrates strong legal aspects with a deep understanding of the community's social conditions is highly effective in minimizing disputes. Active community involvement from the early stages, a transparent deliberation process (FGD), and the determination of fair and appropriate compensation values are key to success. This study recommends strengthening mediation mechanisms and proactive communication to ensure community rights are fulfilled, thereby enabling the achievement of development goals without causing social conflict.
