Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the impact of QRIS and peer-to-peer (P2P) lending on the sustainability of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with capital structure as a mediating variable in Medan Petisah. The rapid development of digital financial services has provided new opportunities for MSMEs to improve financial access and operational efficiency. This research employs a quantitative approach using survey data collected from MSME actors. The analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that QRIS and P2P lending have a significant positive effect on capital structure and MSME sustainability. Furthermore, capital structure partially mediates the relationship between financial technology usage and business sustainability. These findings indicate that digital financial adoption not only enhances access to funding but also improves the financial structure of MSMEs, contributing to long-term sustainability. This study provides empirical evidence on the role of financial technology in strengthening MSME performance in urban areas.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of fintech lending on the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, with a particular focus on the mediating role of the banking industry. MSMEs play a crucial role in the Indonesian economy by contributing significantly to gross domestic product and employment; however, limited access to formal financing remains a major constraint to their development. In this context, fintech lending has emerged as an alternative financing mechanism that offers faster, more flexible, and more accessible funding compared to traditional banking services. This study employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and Data Indonesia, covering the period from January 2022 to December 2025, with a total of 48 observations. The data were analyzed using regression analysis and mediation testing with SPSS. The results indicate that fintech lending has a positive and significant effect on MSME growth. In addition, fintech lending also significantly influences the banking industry. Furthermore, the banking industry has a significant positive effect on MSME growth and fully mediates the relationship between fintech lending and MSME growth. These findings suggest that fintech lending and banking institutions operate in a complementary manner, where banking plays a crucial intermediary role in channeling the impact of fintech into MSME development. Overall, this study provides important insights for policymakers, financial institutions, and fintech developers in strengthening an inclusive and sustainable digital financial ecosystem to support MSME growth in Indonesia.

The results indicate that access to financing has a positive and significant effect on MSME performance. Furthermore, MSME performance also has a positive and significant effect on community welfare. In addition, access to financing also has a direct positive and significant effect on community welfare. The results of the mediation test indicate that MSME performance mediates the relationship between access to financing and community welfare. These findings suggest that improved access to financing, accompanied by enhanced MSME performance, can make a significant contribution to increasing community welfare. Therefore, the government and financial institutions need to play an active role in expanding access to financing and improving MSME capacity in order to enhance business performance and community welfare in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of accounting knowledge and taxpayer attitudes on tax compliance among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in North Medan. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through surveys distributed to SME owners and managers who are directly involved in financial decision-making. The study found that both accounting knowledge and positive taxpayer attitudes significantly influence tax compliance. Accounting knowledge enables business owners to understand tax obligations and manage financial records accurately, leading to improved compliance. Meanwhile, taxpayer attitudes, such as the perception of fairness and trust in the tax system, also play a crucial role in determining the level of compliance. The results suggest that enhancing accounting education and fostering positive attitudes toward taxation could improve tax compliance in the SME sector. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers and tax authorities aiming to promote compliance through targeted educational programs and awareness campaigns.

Abstract

This study seeks to analyze the influence of simple accounting practices and financial literacy on the income growth performance of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan Timur. Simple accounting is operationalized through key indicators, including systematic record-keeping, preparation of financial reports, and consistency in bookkeeping practices. Financial literacy is assessed based on the level of understanding of fundamental financial concepts, financial planning capabilities, and the ability to make informed financial decisions in business contexts. Meanwhile, income growth performance is measured using indicators such as increased sales, profit growth, and overall financial stability. The study adopts a quantitative research design, employing a survey method as the primary data collection technique. A total of 75 MSME actors in Medan Timur were selected as respondents using purposive sampling. Data were gathered through structured questionnaires specifically developed to measure the research variables. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using multiple linear regression to evaluate the magnitude and significance of the relationships between variables. The findings reveal that both the implementation of simple accounting and financial literacy exert a positive and statistically significant effect on MSME income growth. Accurate and consistent financial recording enables business owners to better monitor and control their financial performance, while a higher level of financial literacy enhances their capacity to make strategic and effective financial decisions. These results underscore the importance of strengthening basic accounting practices and improving financial knowledge as key drivers for sustainable income growth and long-term business development among MSMEs in Medan Timur.
