Abstract

The majority of the population of Tanah Miring District, Merauke Regency work as farmers and livestock breeders by utilizing agricultural waste as animal feed. The livestock pattern that is managed traditionally and has not been controlled for health, has resulted in a decrease in the productivity of livestock businesses which results in sudden livestock deaths. The implementation method includes two stages, namely socialization and implementation of activities consisting of two activities, namely physical activities and non-physical activities. The results of the community service, namely socialization, were carried out in two places, namely in the local government and at the Merauke Regency Food Security, Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service, physical activities in the form of cage sanitation and provision of multivitamins and medicines to livestock farmers, while non-physical activities in the form of counseling on the prevention and control of diseases caused by parasites. This activity received a positive response from the community so that it could be carried out well and successfully helped reduce the mosquito population in the cage environment, increase the immunity of livestock from disease attacks and increase the productivity of cattle farming businesses in Merauke Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of students' financial literacy skills during the period 2019-2024. Financial literacy, which includes an understanding of money management, investment, and financial planning, is an essential competency in equipping students to face global economic challenges. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, combining in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to explore students' financial understanding, attitudes, and practices. Data were collected from elementary school students in various regions to ensure diversity in social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Data analysis was carried out thematically by identifying key patterns related to financial literacy skills, influencing factors, and changes that have occurred over the past five years. The results of the study show an increase in students' awareness of the importance of financial literacy, especially after the integration of financial literacy into the national education curriculum and the massive influence of digital financial technology. However, challenges such as gaps in access to information, low parental participation, and lack of practical training in financial management are still major obstacles. This study suggests increasing collaboration between schools, families, and communities in providing comprehensive and applicable financial literacy education. These findings provide insights for educators, policymakers, and financial institutions to design more effective strategies to improve students' financial literacy skills in the future.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve teachers’ competence through the development of supporting media for deep learning instruction in the School Supervision Cluster of Kutorejo District. The main problems faced by the partners were teachers’ limited understanding of deep learning concepts and their low ability to utilize technology-based learning media. The methods applied included needs analysis, learning media design, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The activity involved 35 teachers and was conducted through workshops and practice-based mentoring. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers’ competencies across all measured aspects, including understanding of deep learning concepts, ability to use digital learning media, confidence in integrating technology, and readiness to apply the media in classroom learning. After the activity, 85.7% of teachers were categorized as having high and very high competence levels. These findings indicate that the development of supporting learning media accompanied by training and mentoring is effective in enhancing teachers’ competence. This program can serve as a model for similar community service activities in other school clusters or regions.

The majority of students (88.1%) gave very positive appreciation to this learning media, indicating increased curiosity and enthusiasm for the learning substance. Pop-Up book media has proven successful in encouraging students to participate actively, especially in group discussion activities, and helps them appreciate Pancasila values more deeply. Nevertheless, this study also found several challenges in its implementation that need to be anticipated, particularly related to resource availability and the diversity of student learning styles. Thus, the use of this innovative media has great prospects for creating a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere for students.

Abstract

Tanah Miring District is one of the areas in Merauke Regency with a high cattle population. The landscape of Tanah Miring District is characterized by lowlands with slopes of 0-3%, dominated by swampy areas and grazing fields for livestock, such as cattle. One factor affecting cattle productivity is the presence of disease vectors such as mosquitoes. This study aims to provide information on the diversity of mosquito species found around cattle pens as preliminary data to support cattle productivity, maintenance, and care programs in controlling cattle disease vectors. The research method employed was the around-cattle collection method, conducted around cattle pens in three villages within the Tanah Miring District. The mosquitoes captured were then identified using a stereo microscope and a key for identifying mosquito genera and species at Laboratory 1 of the Faculty of Agriculture, Musamus University. Data on mosquito species and numbers of female mosquitoes were obtained for further analysis of diversity, evenness, and dominance indices. Based on mosquito collection results in cattle pens in Tanah Miring District, 41 species and 10 genera of mosquitoes were found. The species Coquellittida nigrochracea and Coq. ochracea were the most commonly found species around cattle pens in Tanah Miring District. The mosquito species diversity index fell within the moderate category, with an even distribution of mosquito species, and the dominant mosquito species ranged from 0.1 to 0.3. This indicates that mosquito species are very less prevalent around the cattle shed in the Tanah Miring District, Merauke. The presence of mosquitoes is commonly found on the roots of aquatic plants, namely Coq. nigrochracea and Coq. ochracea, which are also found around the cattle shed, indicates the need for mosquito vector control efforts by maintaining cleanliness around the cattle shed, such as clearing the grass and aquatic plants.
