Abstract

Student readiness for using computer-based assessment was affected by economic level, school grade, and device accessibility. This study analyzed student readiness using a computer-based assessment, the four-tier diagnostic test (CBFTDT). The data in this study were students' responses to a questionnaire consisting of 16 statements about three aspects: mental access, skill access, and usage. The questionnaire consists of 16 statements with three aspects: items, media, and effectivity. The questionnaire was proved valid by experts and its estimated reliability score was 0.99. This study proved that the Student is still not ready to use the computer-based assessment, with an average readiness of 60%. In addition, there is no effect of economic level, school grade, and device accessibility on the readiness for using the computer-based assessment. Hence, the treatment of all stockholders is needed to prepare students to use the computer-based assessment.

Abstract

Telah dilaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PPM) kelompok dosen tahun anggaran 2022 dalam bentuk sosialisasi sistem manajemen sampah. Persoalan sampah tetap akan menjadi persoalan dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat terutama di masyarakat kota baik kota kecil, sedang, maupun kota besar. Aktivitas PPM ini menjelaskan penyelesaian masalah sampah melalui sebuah inovasi berbasis Hukum Termodinamika, sehingga diharapkan kelompok masyarakat mitra PPM tidak lagi menghasilkan sampah buang. Hal ini disebabkan sampah mereka diolah menjadi bahan yang bermanfaat bagi ekosistem. Tentu saja produk PPM ini berupa produk yang laku jual. Prinsip dasar PPM ini adalah menyadarkan setiap warga masyarakat agar melakukan pemilahan sampah menjadi sejumlah kelompok sampah karakteriktik yang kemudian setiap kelompok sampah tersebut diberi perlakuan tertentu. Perlakuan yang diberikan tentu saja sesuai karakteristik material sampahnya sehingga seluruh sampah akan dapat termanfaatkan.

Abstract

Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu wilayah yang rentan akan bencana tanah longsor. Di Kecamatan Samigaluh terdapat lokasi longsor yang terpanjang akibat badai yang disebabkan oleh Siklon Tropis. Jumlah penduduk yang tidak sedikit serta didukung oleh kondisi geologi di wilayah tersebut menyebabkan masyarakat membutuhkan data mitigasi bencana untuk mengetahui pola persebaran longsor pada wilayah tersebut. Kegiatan Program Dosen Berkegiatan di Luar Kampus ini bertujuan untuk 1) meningkatkan pemahaman peserta mengenai penyebab, karakteristik, dan proses terjadinya tanah longsor; 2) meningkatkan pemahaman peserta mengenai tanah longsor dari hasil penelitian tentang analisis gerakan tanah berdasarkan data mikrotremor di Kecamatan Samigaluh; 3) meningkatkan pemahaman peserta tetang mitigasi bencana apabila terjadi tanah longsor; dan 4) mewujudkan masyarakat sadar bencana. Program Dosen di Luar Kampus ini bersifat workshop dan dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi, pengenalan aplikasi InaRISK, dan pembagian angket. Peserta sosialiasi bencana tanah longsor ini adalah guru-guru IPA sekolah dasar di lingkungan Kecamatan Samigaluh Kabupaten Kulon Progo. Hasil yang diperoleh dari Dosen Berkegiatan di Luar Kampus ini adalah 1) meningkatnya pemahaman peserta mengenai penyebab, karakteristik, dan proses terjadinya tanah longsor; 2) meningkatnya pemahaman peserta mengenai tanah longsor dari hasil penelitian tentang analisis gerakan tanah berdasarkan data mikrotremor di Kecamatan Samigaluh; dan 3) meningkatnya pemahaman peserta tentang mitigasi bencana apabila terjadi tanah longsor; dan 4) baru 10% Sekolah Dasar di Kecamatan Samigaluh yang telah siap siaga menghadapi bencana tanah longsor.

Abstract

In this study, graphene oxide was synthesized using the liquid phase exfoliation method. Graphene oxide synthesis was carried out by dispersing graphite powder in deionized water and adding linear alkylbenzene sulfonate surfactant, followed by exposure to ultrasonic waves at a frequency of 21 kHz. The graphite exfoliation process in this method took advantage of the cavitation phenomenon that occurred during the sonication process. The cavitation effect in this research was observed based on the characterization results of graphene oxide. The ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy results indicated that cavitation events influenced the emergence of the main absorption peak at a wavelength of 240 nm and a secondary peak at 287 nm. The X-ray diffraction results showed a phase transition from crystalline graphite to an amorphous phase, as indicated by the disappearance of sharp graphite peaks and the appearance of broad peaks at 2θ ≅ 18°. The Fourier transform infrared analysis showed that cavitation added oxygen groups to the graphene oxide produced, e.g.: -OH and C-OH, whose intensities increased after sonication. Scanning electron microscope analysis revealed sheet-like structures on the graphite surface. Based on the energy dispersive X-ray results, the C/O ratio of the graphene oxide sample was 68.99%. This aforementioned result supported the Fourier transform infrared results where an increase in the oxygen composition occurred after the sonication.

Abstract

Our study investigates the remarkable capacitance performance of a supercapacitor cell featuring electrodes synthesized through the liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE) method using environmentally friendly linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) surfactant. We explored different synthesis temperatures (15, 30, and 90 °C) to evaluate their impact on reducing sonication time. The electrodes, created by drop-casting graphene onto a silver plate substrate and heated at 50 °C, demonstrated exceptional cyclic voltammetry (CV) and charging-discharging (CD) results. Notably, the graphene synthesized at 90 °C exhibited a maximum capacitance of 59 F/g at a 13 mV/s scan rate in a 1.3 M KOH electrolyte gel, leading to superior energy density as shown in the Ragone plot. Our findings highlight the crucial role of increased synthesis temperature in LPE, enhancing supercapacitor cells through the expansion of sp2-ordered grain size, evident in the Raman shift data's ID/IG increase.

Abstract

 Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk i) mengetahui proses sintesis material carbon nanodots (Cdots) berbahan dasar bonggol pakcoy menggunakan metode pemanasan oven dan microwave; ii) mengetahui karakteristik Cdots berbahan dasar bonggol pakcoy berdasarkan uji ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), particle size analyzer (PSA), dan scanning electron microscope – energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX); dan iii) mengetahui pengaruh Cdots berbahan dasar bonggol pakcoy terhadap korosi pada logam besi dalam larutan HCl. Cdots disintesis dari bahan limbah bonggol pakcoy melalui metode oven dan microwave. Aplikasi Cdots pada logam besi dilakukan dengan cara melapisi (coating). Pengujian spektrofotometer UV-Vis menghasilkan dua puncak absorpsi utama pada panjang gelombang 280 nm dan 320 nm. Spektrum FTIR menunjukkan adanya gugus fungsi O-H, C=O, C-O, dan C=C. Pengujian XRD menunjukkan Cdots yang dihasilkan memiliki struktur amorf. Hasil uji PSA menunjukkan Cdots tersebut berukuran 1,2 nm dengan volumenya sebesar 53%, serta hasil dari SEM berupa morfologi seperti karang dengan benjol-benjolan yang berongga. Penerapan Cdots berbahan dasar limbah bonggol pakcoy menunjukkan bahwa tanpa dilakukannya proses pelapisan (coating), logam besi mengalami degradasi pengurangan massa lebih besar dibandingkan dengan logam besi yang diberi pelapisan Cdots.

Abstract

Penelitian ini meneliti pengaruh lapisan graphene oxide pada polimer fiber optic terhadap sensitivitas dan penambahan lebar daerah aktif pada sensor kelembaban tanah berbasis polimer fiber optic. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan serat optik polimer yang telah dilapisi graphene oxide sebagai sensor untuk mengukur kelembaban tanah dan untuk melihat pengaruh lapisan tersebut terhadap sensitivitas sensor. Penelitian dimulai dengan fabrikasi graphene oxide menggunakan metode Hummers, yang kemudian dikarakterisasi dengan scanning electronmicroscope (SEM), fourier transform infra red (FTIR), dan x-ray diffraction (XRD). Selanjutnya dilakukan perakitan alat dan pelapisan graphene oksida pada polimer serat optik. Pengukuran sensitivitas sensor dilakukan dengan membandingkan sensor yang tidak dilapisi dan yang dilapisi graphene oxide, dengan mentransmisikan sinar laser dari amplifier OMRON E3X-HD11 melalui kabel polimer serat optik yang telah dikelupas. Kelembaban tanah diukur dari tanah dalam kotak plastik yang diberi udara secara berkala, dan hasil intensitas cahaya pada amplifier dibandingkan dengan hygrometer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelapisan graphene oxide dapat meningkatkan efektivitas dan sensitivitas pengukuran, disebabkan oleh gugus oksigen pada graphene oxide yang menyerap udara di tanah. Sensor berbasis serat optik polimer yang dilapisi graphene oksida menunjukkan sensitivitas lebih baik dibandingkan yang tidak dilapisi, dengan peningkatan linearitas dari 0,63 menjadi 0,99.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangakan nanokomposit AgNP/GO/PAM sebagai material penjernih limbah methylene orange (MO) melalui metode fotokatalisis. MO merupakan zat pewarna reaktif dengan sifat karsinogenik dan sulit terurai secara alami, sehingga berdampak negatif pada lingkungan. Kombinasi material nanopartikel perak (AgNP), graphene oxide (GO), dan polyacrylamide (PAM) diharapkan menghasilkan nanokomposit dengan efisiensi tinggi dalam mendegradasi limbah organik tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan dengan preparasi GO, AgNP, dan nanokomposit AgNP/GO/PAM. Mengkarakterisasi hasil preparasi menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis, dan menguji aplikasinya terhadap limbah MO. Variabel penelitian meliputi waktu paparan sinar UV sebagai variabel bebas, perubahan warna MO dan puncak absorbansi sebagai variabel terikat, serta berbagai variabel kontrol seperti konsentrasi material penggabung nanokomposit dan intensitas cahaya. Data absorbansi digunakan untuk menghitung efektivitas degradasi MO dengan menganalisis kinetika reaksi fotokatalitik melalui plot puncak absorbansi terhadap waktu.. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nanokomposit AgNP/GO/PAM berhasil disintesis dan mampu mendegradasi limbah MO secara optimal. Efektivitasi degradasi meningkat seiring waktu paparan UV hingga mencapai 83.57% dalam waktu 80 menit. Sehingga nanokomposit ini dinilai berhasil dalam mendegradasikan limbah MO dan memiliki potensi besar untuk diaplikasikan dalam pengolahan limbah industri. Penelitian selanjutnya mengenai nanokomposit AgNP/GO/PAM disarankan untuk memperluas aplikasi nanokomposit dan menggunakan teknik karakterisasi lanjutan seperti XRD, TEM, dan FTIR untuk pemahaman lebih mendalam.

Abstract

Purpose – As critical thinking is a key competency in science education, this study employs a meta-analysis to systematically evaluate the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. This study analyzed 21 articles published between 2017 and 2024. These articles specifically discuss the effectiveness of PBL implementation in enhancing students' critical thinking skills.Methodology – The selection criteria included peer-reviewed articles published between 2017 and 2024, which provided explicit numerical data (sample size, mean, standard deviation) and a direct focus on the impact of PBL on critical thinking skills. A random-effects model was chosen due to expected variability among studies, and the effect size was calculated using Hedges' g to ensure robust findings. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 29 to calculate the summary effect, analyze heterogeneity, construct a forest plot, and identify potential publication bias.Findings – The meta-analysis revealed a significant improvement in critical thinking skills for students who experienced PBL-based learning compared to conventional methods (summary effect = 0.57, 95% CI = 0.15-1.0, p = 0.01). This shows that 57% of learning with PBL models analyzed has a significant positive effect on students' critical thinking skills. The heterogeneity test indicated (I² value = 93,9% > 25%), suggesting moderate variability among the analyzed studies. Funnel plots and Egger's regression tests indicate no risk of publication bias.Contribution– These findings emphasize the importance of integrating PBL into science curricula to foster critical thinking skills. Educators should consider structured PBL frameworks, while policymakers could support teacher training initiatives to optimize implementation. Future studies may explore longitudinal effects and variations across different educational levels.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of student worksheets based on the problem-based learning model to enhance students’ mathematical representation skills and learning motivation in the topic of sound waves. Problem-based learning (PBL) makes the study of sound waves more engaging for students by emphasizing the comprehension of ideas and their application in the real world, rather than memorizing formulas. The research was conducted in Class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Godean, Yogyakarta, involving 33 students, using a quantitative approach and a pre-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design. The instruments used were a mathematical representation ability test and a learning motivation questionnaire. The data analysis results showed an increase in the average post-test scores compared to the pre-test. Based on the paired sample t-test, students' mathematical representation skills showed a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.001) with an N-gain score of 0.68, resulting in an increase in scores from 51 to 85. This result is supported by the effectiveness test using Cohen's d, which indicated a very large effect size (d = 2.35). Meanwhile, students' learning motivation showed a statistically non-significant increase (sig. = 0.055 > 0.05), with an N-gain score of 0.038 and a slight increase in scores from 48 to 50. Cohen's d effect size test for learning motivation fell into the small effect category (d = 0.32). Although not statistically significant, there was an indication of improved student learning outcomes after the intervention, as reflected in the mean score differences. These results show that problem-based learning models integrated into student worksheets are highly effective in enhancing students' mathematical representation abilities and raising their motivation to learn. Therefore, the implementation of problem-based learning student worksheets can serve as an effective alternative instructional strategy in physics education, particularly in improving students' cognitive aspects. Further research with a more extended implementation period and a more comprehensive approach is recommended to optimize the impact on affective aspects.   Keywords: problem-based learning, student worksheet, mathematical representation, learning motivation, sound waves.
