Abstract

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are very important for students to have both in the short and long term. However, in reality, students in madrasah ibtidaiyah have the low-level category of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. For this reason, it is necessary to have the right strategy to be able to improve these two abilities. This scientific article will answer the question of how mathematics learning strategies can improve critical thinking and problem-solving skills in madrasah ibtidaiyah students. By using descriptive qualitative methods and using library research in collecting data and information. Problem Based Learning can be the right strategy or model to achieve these goals. In addition, by integrating Problem Based Learning and IDEAL (identify, define, enumerate, analyze, list, and self-correct). This is because the strategy emphasizes the involvement of students in the process of solving a problem. Thus, students no longer depend only on the teacher but can also independently find solutions to the problems they are facing.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) into the Human Resource Management (HRM) system in the context of public education at SMA Negeri 1 Besuki Situbondo. The main issue addressed in this study is the separation of teacher development programs from the school performance management system. The purpose of this study is to identify effective strategies for integrating CPD into HRM practices to improve teacher professionalism and strengthen institutional accountability. A qualitative case study approach was used in this study. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving teachers, principals, and HR staff. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that integrating CPD into HRM shifted the school management paradigm from administrative compliance to competency-based development. The principal’s transformational leadership was a key factor in integrating training, performance evaluation, and career development within a cohesive framework. As a result, teachers experienced improvements in pedagogical competence, digital literacy, and learning innovation. The CPD–HRM integration model at SMA Negeri 1 Besuki Situbondo can be replicated to strengthen the human resource system in public education and build institutional performance.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of asynchronous learning via TikTok in teaching ESP, specifically Business English, among 112 undergraduate students at Universitas Islam Malang. Motivated by the growing role of digital platforms in language education, quantitative research design was employed, quantitative data collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS. The results revealed high to very high student agreement across key variables: perceived ease of use (M = 4.45), learning comfort (M = 4.25), oral English practice effectiveness (M = 4.35), and confidence in language learning (M = 4.40), alongside positive ratings for creative engagement (M = 4.30) and collaborative learning potential (M = 4.15). These findings demonstrate that TikTok, as an asynchronous educational tool, supports language proficiency development, learner autonomy, and interactive engagement in ESP contexts. The study contributes to practice by providing empirical support for integrating familiar, student-centered technologies into ESP instruction, and to theory by extending digital pedagogy frameworks to include mobile social media as effective platforms for fostering self-directed and interactive language learning. Implications are offered for educators and policymakers aiming to innovate language instruction through contextually relevant digital tools.

Abstract

Background: The Caesarean section (CS) rate has increased every year. However, this increase is not entirely due to medical indication. This phenomenon may put bot mothers and newborns at risk of short- and long-term complications associated with CS. Enhanced recovery after caesarean surgery (ERACS) is CS approach that incorporates preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative. This study compared maternal and neonatal outcomes between ERACS and conventional caesarean delivery. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using medical records of caesarean deliveries at Bina Sehat Hospital, Jember (Sep tember2022–Aug 2023). Fifty ERACS and fifty conventional cases were included. Outcomes were early ambulation (≤12 h), length of stay (≤2 days), and good APGAR score (7–10) at 1 and 5 minutes. Data were analyzed using chi-square test. Results: Early ambulation (≤12 h) occurred in 38/50 ERACS VS 18/50 conventional cases. Leng of stay ≤2 days occurred in 40/50 ERACS vs 15/50 conventional cases. Good APGAR score in first minute 38/50 ERACS vs 37/50 conventional cases and in fifth minute 48/50 ERACS vs 49/50 conventional cases. The relationship between postoperative ambulation and length of stay is significant.Discussion: Preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative modifications can accelerate patient mobilization after caesarean section. In addition, early ambulation improves various body functions related to metabolism. Theses factor has direct impact on postoperative ambulation and shorter length of stay. Conclusion: ERACS was associated with higher rate of early postoperative mobilization and shorter hospital length of stay compared with conventional caesarean delivery.

Abstract

Effective financial management is crucial for students, especially those studying abroad, as they face complex economic environments. Based on this condition this study examines the influence of financial literacy, financial planning, and impulsive buying behavior, both partially and simultaneously, on personal financial management among Timor-Leste international students in Malang, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, surveying 97 students selected through purposive sampling from seven universities. Data were collected via online questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that financial literacy has a positive but non-significant effect on personal financial management, while financial planning and impulsive buying behavior have positive and significant effects on personal financial management, with regression coefficients of 0.243 and 0.294, respectively. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly influence personal financial management, indicating that combined knowledge, planning, and controlled spending behaviors determine the quality of financial management. These findings highlight the importance of financial planning and behavioral management in fostering effective personal financial management and provide practical implications for educational institutions in enhancing students’ financial decision-making skills. Keywords: Financial literacy, financial planning, impulsive buying, personal financial management.

Abstract

This study examines how religious moderation is structured and sustained within pesantren-based private Islamic higher education institutions (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Swasta/PTKIS) in the Tapal Kuda region of East Java, Indonesia. It specifically explores the roles of institutional leadership, organizational culture, and everyday academic practices in the institutionalization of moderation. This research employed a qualitative interpretive design involving six pesantren-based PTKIS. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis with 10 key informants, including university leaders, pesantren authorities, and academic managers. The data were analyzed using a structuration perspective to examine the dynamic interaction between institutional structures and human agency in reproducing moderation practices. The findings show that religious moderation is sustained through a hybrid governance model that combines formal university administration with pesantren-based religious authority. Within this model, moderation is institutionalized through three interconnected mechanisms: authoritative regulation grounded in leadership legitimacy, persuasive academic engagement through dialogical pedagogy, and normative cultural internalization through pesantren routines and mentoring practices. The originality of this study lies in the development of an institutional structuration perspective that conceptualizes religious moderation as a recursively reproduced institutional practice rather than merely a policy agenda or ideological discourse. This study contributes theoretically by offering a three-mechanism model for understanding the institutional reproduction of religious moderation in Islamic higher education and contributes practically by providing insights for policymakers and university leaders on how culturally embedded governance and leadership legitimacy can strengthen the sustainability of religious moderation.
