Abstract

Background: Stunting is a nutritional problem caused by insufficient food intake for a long time. Routine exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months and followed by the provision of nutritious weaning foods is one of the efforts to prevent stunting. Purpose: community service activities are to provide knowledge about the risk factors and causes of stunting, provide knowledge about the potential of tempeh as a potential food to prevent stunting, provide knowledge and skills on how to make weaning food. Method: this activity is a collaboration between TJSL PT KILANG PERTAMINA INTERNATIONAL RU III and the Faculty of Public Health, Sriwijaya University. Participants consisted of cadres and mothers of toddlers at Melati Deswita Plaju integrated health care. The activities carried out were counseling on preventing stunting, counseling on potential food tempeh preventing stunting, story telling, let's eat tempeh. Result: as many as 85% of respondents have good knowledge after being given counseling related to stunting. Conclusion: there is an increase in knowledge where the percentage of respondents who have a good category increases after the extension activities are carried out.   Keywords: stunting, tempeh, toddlers, weaning foods, integrated health care

Abstract

Background: Nutritional anemia is a condition where the hemoglobin level in the blood is below normal. Anemia education is very important because there are still many young women who do not know about anemia. This activity aims to increase knowledge about balanced nutrition and anemia among young women in Menanti Village. Methods: This activity is in collaboration with the Head of Menanti Village, Kec. Kelekar Muara Enim Regency with a total of 36 participants, using lecture and discussion methods. The activities carried out are measuring knowledge and providing education using the lecture method. Results: Nutrition and anemia education activities in Menanti Village, Kelekar District, Muara Enim Regency were carried out on Tuesday 11 June 2024 for 36 young women. Conclusion: Community service activities by lecturers at the FKM Nutrition Study Program at Sriwijaya University in the form of nutritional education regarding anemia in young women using leaflets as a medium increase female students' knowledge regarding anemia. Knowledge about applying the principles of balanced nutrition is one of the efforts to prevent anemia from an early age in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Primary school children need adequate nutrition to avoid deviations in growth and development. The imbalance between intake and nutritional adequacy will cause nutritional problems. This activity aims to determine elementary school children's diet, nutritional status, and knowledge about balanced nutrition. Methods: This service activity is integrated with the Food Consumption Assessment course of Nutrition Study Program students of the Faculty of Public Health Semester V. This activity participants were 5th-grade students of State Elementary School 129 Palembang, totaling 53 people. This activity was carried out in 3 stages: nutritional status screening, interviews related to food intake, and nutrition education. Results: Most of the students had underweight status 81.1% (weight-for-age) and normal nutritional status 69.8% (height-for-age) and 62.3% (BMI-for-age). Most students consumed incomplete meals (79.2%) and a deficit energy adequacy level (67.9%). There was an increase in knowledge at pretest (28.3%) and posttest (56.6%). Conclusion: There is an increase in student knowledge after being given education in the form of lectures and educational games with an additional average score of 8.49 points.

Abstract

Background: Permasalahan kesehatan anak sekolah masih harus mendapatkan perhatian penuh seperti status gizi, konsumsi makanan beresiko serta kebersihan diri dan aktivitas fisik. Peran sekolah dalam bentuk sekolah sehat dapat dimanfaatkan bagi pihak sekolah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesehatan anak. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menginisiasi program sekolah sehat dan meningkatkan pengetahuan anak sekolah mengenai sehat bergizi, sehat fisik dan sehat lingkungan. Metode: Kegiatan pengabdian ini terintegrasi dengan mata kuliah Gizi Olahraga mahasiswa Prodi Gizi Fakultas Kesehatan Masyarakat Semester V. Peserta kegiatan ini merupakan siswa kelas III Sekolah Dasar Negeri 072 Palembang yang berjumlah 62 orang. Kegiatan ini dilakukan selama 2 minggu yaitu minggu ke-1 edukasi dan game edukasi mengenai sehat bergizi yang dilaksanakan selama 2 jam dan minggu ke-2 edukasi dan game edukasi mengenai sehat fisik dan sehat lingkungan yang berlangsung selama 3 jam. Evaluasi kegiatan ini adalah melalui pre-test dan post-test menggunakan kuesioner yang telah divalidasi. Hasil: Terdapat peningkatan signifikan pengetahuan siswa mengenai sehat bergizi (p=<0,001) dan pengetahuan mengenai sehat fisik sehat lingkungan (p=<0,001) setelah diberikan edukasi berupa ceramah dan juga games edukasi. Kesimpulan: Edukasi yang dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan dan game edukasi dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman anak mengenai sehat bergizi, sehat fisik dan sehat lingkungan.
