Abstract

General Background: Contemporary psychology has predominantly evolved within Western empiricist and materialist traditions that conceptualize human nature through biological, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions. Specific Background: In contrast, Islamic Psychology is grounded in an Islamic worldview that understands human beings as an ontological unity comprising ruh, qalb, nafs, ‘aql, and jasad, each possessing distinct ontological status. Knowledge Gap: Despite increasing applied research in Islamic counseling and psychotherapy, the ontological foundations distinguishing Islamic Psychology as an autonomous scientific paradigm remain insufficiently articulated. Aims: This study aims to formulate a coherent ontological framework of Islamic Psychology and critically compare it with the dominant ontological assumptions of Western psychology. Results: Using a qualitative–philosophical library research approach, the study demonstrates that Islamic Psychology offers an integrative and hierarchical conception of the human soul that cannot be reduced to material or cognitive processes, while Western psychological paradigms largely operate within reductionist ontologies. Novelty: The study systematically articulates the ontological structure of ruh, qalb, nafs, ‘aql, and jasad as foundational elements of Islamic Psychology, positioning them as constitutive realities rather than symbolic constructs. Implications: This ontological clarification provides theoretical, methodological, and practical foundations for positioning Islamic Psychology as a philosophically autonomous and complementary paradigm within global psychological discourse, particularly in addressing spiritual and existential dimensions of human well-being. Highlights:  Islamic Psychology is grounded in an integrative ontological model uniting spiritual, rational, and bodily dimensions. Western psychological paradigms predominantly rely on materialistic and reductionist ontological assumptions. Ontological clarification strengthens Islamic Psychology as an autonomous and complementary scientific paradigm. Keywords: Islamic psychology; ontology; human soul; spirituality; Western psychology

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of product quality, social media creative content, and consumer testimonials on the purchase decision. Consumers of the Pilotter brand identified as popular in the study include those who use social media and have previously purchased products, as well as those between the ages of 12 and 40 who frequently visit Sidoarjo and make purchases from P's online and offline stores. This study uses a quantitative approach with the Partial Least Square (PLS) method and involves 100 respondents who are Pilotter consumers. Evaluation of the Inner Model (structural model) is carried out by calculating the values of R-Square, Q-Square, and F-Square. R-Square measures how much the variation of the change of independent variables affects the dependent variable, while Q-Square is used to determine the predictive relevance of the research through the blindfolding procedure. The results of the analysis showed that product quality did not have a significant effect on purchasing decisions, while social media creative content and consumer testimonials had a positive and significant influence. This shows that digital marketing strategies through social media and customer reviews play a greater role in attracting consumer interest than the quality factor of the product itself. Therefore, companies are advised to strengthen their digital marketing strategies and manage customer testimonials optimally to increase competitiveness and sales.

The approach in this research is using quantitative method in which the sample is taken using purposive sampling technique from 96 respondents who have made purchases at Café Horas Porong. The data was analyzed using SmartPLS 3. The results of the study show that the three independent variables, namely product quality, price, and word of mouth, significantly and positively affects customer purchase decision. The implications of this study contribute to the management of Cafe Horas Porong to focus on improving product quality, competitive pricing, and positive word of mouth management in order to increase customer purchase decision. The urgency of this research lies in the need for MSMEs to understand the key factors that can increase competitiveness in the midst of increasingly fierce competition in the coffee shop industry. The limitation of this study lies in the limited location coverage of one coffee shop, so generalization of the results needs to be done with caution. The novelty of this research lies in the simultaneous integration of the three variables in the context of local coffee shop MSMEs in the Porong area.
