Abstract

The increasing participation of women in the workforce presents challenges in balancing professional and domestic responsibilities, particularly for working mothers who face dual roles. This study aims to analyze the relationship between flexible working arrangements and work-life balance among working mothers in Payakumbuh City. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 115 respondents selected through accidental sampling. The research instruments included a work-life balance scale adapted from Gunawan et al. (2019), based on Fisher et al. (2009), and a flexible working arrangement scale developed based on Hill et al. (2001). Data were analyzed using the Pearson product-moment correlation test with SPSS version 25. The results show that the majority of respondents fell within the moderate category for both variables, and a positive and significant relationship was found between flexible working arrangements and work-life balance, with a significance value of 0.038 and a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.194. These findings indicate that the implementation of flexible work systems, such as flexplace and flextime, contributes to reducing dual-role conflict and enhancing the psychological well-being and productivity of working mothers. This study offers practical implications for institutions, particularly in the public sector, to develop work policies that support the achievement of optimal work-life balance.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara emotional intelligence dan psychological well-being pada karyawan bank. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 67 karyawan yang dipilih melalui teknik insidental sampling berdasarkan kriteria yang telah ditetapkan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara daring menggunakan Employee Well-Being Scale yang mengacu pada model Carol Ryff untuk mengukur psychological well-being serta Wong & Law Emotional Intelligence Scale yang berlandaskan model John D. Mayer dan Peter Salovey untuk mengukur emotional intelligence. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik korelasi Pearson Product Moment menggunakan SPSS versi 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara emotional intelligence dan psychological well-being (r = 0,892; p < 0,05). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan karyawan dalam mengenali, memahami, dan mengelola emosi berkontribusi terhadap terjaganya kesejahteraan psikologis dalam menghadapi tuntutan kerja perbankan. Hasil ini memberikan gambaran bahwa aspek pengelolaan emosi menjadi faktor penting yang perlu diperhatikan dalam menjaga kondisi psikologis karyawan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa emotional intelligence berperan sebagai sumber daya psikologis penting dalam mendukung psychological well-being karyawan di lingkungan kerja perbankan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of positive affirmations and journaling in enhancing self-compassion among parolees undergoing a reintegration program. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group design and involved 30 participants divided into three groups: Group A (positive affirmations), Group B (journaling), and Group C (control). Self-compassion levels were measured using the Self- Compassion Scale (SCS) before and after the intervention. Group A and B received the intervention over four sessions spanning eight weeks, while the control group followed standard reintegration procedures without additional psychological intervention. Results of the Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) indicated significant differences among the groups after controlling for pretest scores. A Bonferroni post-hoc test indicated that only Group B (journaling intervention) showed a significant difference compared to the control group, whereas the positive affirmation did not demonstrate a statistically significant effect. These findings suggest that journaling is more effective in enhancing self-compassion in the context of this study, while positive affirmations only showed a descriptive improvement.
