The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of implementing reciprocal teaching approach as an attempt to improve students’ mathematical representation in class IX-B MTs Al-Musyahadah Cimahi on the curved-face three-dimensional-object. The type of research, which applied, is classroom action research. The classroom action research consists of 2 (two) cycles based on teaching syllabus of the mathematics teacher in class IX-B. Each cycle was conducted based on the learning objectives. The cycle in this study involved the following procedures: (1) Planning; (2) Implementation of action; (3) Observation and evaluation; (4) Reflection. Based on the result of research conducted on the students of class IX-B MTs Al-Musyahadah on the curved-face three-dimensional-object material, it revealed the fact that the use of reciprocal teaching approach can improve the ability of mathematical representation, which are; (1) responses and learning outcomes shown in cycle II are primly good, and (2) the students’ score of mathematical representation test capability in each cycle has improve significantly, until 87% on the last cycle . Moreover, the results showed that there are only 4 students from total 29 students who obtain score below 65. Therefore, Learning by applying reciprocal teaching approach is very effective to use in learning process.

The Reasoning is the process of thinking to take a conclusion based on observations. The reasoning is very useful for dealing with problems in daily life. Once the importance of reasoning in life, so that the reasoning ability continues to be developed, one of them through the academic field. Because of the importance of reasoning ability for students, it is necessary to analyze what errors are done by students in solving the problem of reasoning ability. So that in the future the students' mathematical reasoning ability can be better. The type of research is descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Margaasih with 15 students. The data collected is in the form of test and interview data, then data will be processed by Newman error analysis theory. The result of the research shows that the students' make a mistake because the students' lack of understanding on the concept, the lack of students' knowledge in reading, understanding and answering questions, and the students are not accustomed to working on the problem of mathematical reasoning ability. The most common type of Newman error in solving the problem of mathematical reasoning is errors in notation writing, and the error-prone reasoning indicator is an indicator to check the validity of an argument.

This research belongs to qualitative descriptive research which attempts to describe the analysis of student error in solving the problem of critical thinking mathematics on the material of building flat side space. Subject in this research is SMPN 5 Cimahi students of class IX-B which in this case student have studied material of building flat side space. The instruments used consisted of tests of critical mathematical thinking skills and student interviews. The results showed that the location of the mistakes made by the students is a mistake of concepts, error translation and strategy error. Factors that cause the error because they do not understand simple concepts, do not know the purpose of the problem, can not translate the problem into the mathematical sentence, can not finish the mathematical sentence.

This study aims to determine the improvement of connection skills and motivation to learn mathematics by using a contextual approach and association between the two. The subjects of this study are students of SMP class VIII as much as two classes with 80 students. Instruments used in data collection are pretest and posttest for mathematical connection capability while for motivation to learn mathematics with posttest. Data on connection ability and mathematical learning motivation were analyzed using Mann Whitney nonparametric test. The result of this research is (1) Improvement of mathematical connection ability of junior high school students with learning using contextual approach better than those using ordinary learning. (2) The motivation of learning of junior high school student using contextual approach is better than using ordinary learning. (3) There is a strong association between the ability of the connection and motivation to learn the mathematics of junior high school students who are learning using a contextual approach.

The AUD study at Al Hikmah Mujahidin Kindergarten and TK Kartika XIX-3 applied a descriptive and quantitative research approach using quasi-experimental techniques. The design carried out has the consideration that, if random grouping is carried out, it will disrupt learning and programs at school. The experimental design used is the non-equivalent control group design. The purpose of the research is to find out and examine the teacher's ability to build ethnomatematic literacy at TK AL Wisdom of Mujahideen and TK Kartika XIX-3. The benefits of research are to help develop the repertoire of theories, knowledge and practices regarding the ability of teachers to develop ethnomatematic literacy. This study produced several findings related to child etnomatematics literacy. Based on the results of the study it was found that the average ethnomatematic literacy before learning did not differ significantly from the experimental-control class. That is, that before learning is carried out, the initial ability difference between the two classes is obtained. Furthermore, after the action was carried out, posttest was carried out to see the final results after being given treatment in both classes. The posttest results on ethnomatematics literacy prove that there is a greater increase in the experimental class compared to the control class. The average posttest of the experimental class is 125.43 with the percentage of achievement that is equal to 91% while for the control group the average is 105.95 with the percentage of achievement that is equal to 82%. Summary of the scores on children's ethnomatematic literacy in the control and experimental classes. The results of the study prove that the actions in the experimental class were able to improve children's ethnomatic literacy better than the control class.

This studyis a post test experimental control group design conducted in 2013by using Problem Based Learning (PBL)to investigate students? mathematical communication,mathematicalcritical thinking abilityand disposition. The study involves 76 students of grade-11 from a senior high school in Cimahi. The study employs three kinds of instrument namely mathematical communication and mathematical critical thinking tests and mathematical critical thinking scale. The study found that the grade of mathematical communication ability of students taught by PBL was classified as fairly good and it was better than the grade of students taught by conventional teaching that classified as medium. However, there was no different grades of mathematical critical thinking ability and of disposition of students in the both classes. The grades of mathematical critical thinking of students were classified as medium, and the grades of mathematical critical thinking disposition of students were classified as fairly good. The other findings there were not association among mathematical communication,critical thinking abilities and mathematicalcritical thinkingdisposition.

The rural area's student difficulties in learning the concept of number operation had been documented by several studies, especially for the case of multiplication. The teacher typically introduces the multiplication concepts using the formula without involving the concept itself. Furthermore, this study aims to design learning trajectory on multiplication operations in the Mathematics of GASING (Math GASING) by focusing more on the concept itself than the formula and by starting from the informal to a formal level of teaching. Design research used as the research method to solve this problem consisting of three phases, namely preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research results show that the Math GASING has a real contribution for students to understanding and mastering in the concept of the multiplication operations. This research also explains the strategy and the model discovered by students in learning multiplication that the students used as a basic concept of multiplication. Finally, the students were able to understand the concept of multiplication more easily, and they showed interest in using this learning trajectory.

This study is a pre test-post-test experimental control group design having a goal to analyze the role of problem-based learning on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability (MPSA) and self-confidence (MSC). The study involves 66 tenth grade students, a mathematical problem-solving test, a mathematical self-confidence scale, and perception of problem-based learning (PBL) approach scale. The study found that on MPSA, its gain, and on MSC students getting treatment with PBL approach obtained better grade than that of students taught by conventional teaching. The other findings, there was the high association between MPSA and MSC, and student performed positive opinion toward PBL approach.

This control-group posttest-only experimental design study aims to investigate the role of learning that teaches metaphorical thinking in mathematical questioning ability of junior high school teachers. The population of this study was mathematics junior high school teachers in West Java province. The samples were 82 mathematics junior high school teachers selected using random purposive sampling for experimental class and control class. It was concluded that: 1) the teacher‘s mathematical questioning ability who received metaphorical thinking learning is better than those who received conventional learning; 2) learning factors and KAM (Kemampuan Awal Matematis = Prior Mathematical Ability) affect the achievement of teachers’ mathematical questioning ability; there is an interaction effect between learning and KAM in developing teachers’ mathematical questioning ability; 4) teachers’ mathematical questioning ability does not reach optimal for submitting non-routine and open-ended questions indicator.Keywords: KAM, Mathematical Questioning Ability, Metaphorical Thinking DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22342/jme.8.1.3614.55-64

Penelitian ini didasari oleh banyaknya siswa SMP yang mengalami prestasi yang kurang sesuai dengan potensi yang mereka miliki, atau kata lainnya biasa di sebut juga dengan underachiever. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran siswa kelas IX  yang mengalami Underachiever di SMP 2 Cipatat. Kehadiran anak underachiever adalah salah satu fenomena yang masih terjadi di Indonesia. Seorang siswa yang dapat dikategorikan underachiever yaitu ketika adanya ketidak sesuaian antara kapasitas intelektual yang mereka miliki dilihat dari kecerdasan atau IQ tinggi dengan prestasi akademik yang mereka raih di sekolahnya. Banyak faktor yang bisa menyebabkan siswa menjadi underachiever. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah metode pengajaran guru yang tidak bisa dinikmati oleh siswa sebagaimana mestinya. Penyebab lainya yaitu gaya belajar siswa yang tidak bisa diakomodasi di kelas. Hal ini sering dikaitkan dengan underachiever berbakat . Penilitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif . Teknik pengumpulan data yang di gunakan adalah observasi, interview, dan dari pihak pihak yang mengetahui tentang data yang peneliti butuhkan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa untuk membantu siswa memahami kondisi underachievermembutukan bimbingan dan konseling yang mendalam agar anak dapat menyesuaikan diri saat belajar di kelas. Peran orang tua dalam penjagaan anak dengan masalah  dapat berpengaruh positif pada perkembangan anak yang mengalami underachiever Kata Kunci: Underachiever, Siswa SMP
