Abstract

This study aims to analyze the errors of grade IX students in MTs Negeri Cimahi in solving circle problems, 32 students, and 6 random samples were taken. The research approach used is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The research instrument used in the test is based on bloom's taxonomy on the dimensions of cognitive processes that begin with C1-C6, where C1 is remembering, C2 is understanding, C3 is applying, C4 is analyzing, C5 is evaluating and C6 is creating. The test is examined based on the type of error Watson category and an analysis of student answer errors. The results showed that the type of error that was very high was 60% in the Above Other / AO type. Then for Omitted Data / OD errors, including a low error of 20%. Types of errors in Inappropriate Data / ID included in the low error that is equal to 13% and the last type of errors in Inappropriate Procedure / IP including very low errors of 7%. While the types of Response Level Conflict / RLC, Undirected Manipulation / UM, and Skills Hierarchy Problem / SHP errors are 0%, respectively, including very small errors. The cause of students making mistakes in solving circle problems based on the Watson category errors is the lack of understanding of the concept of the material being taught, students cannot solve problems according to the solution procedures and the lack of accuracy of students in working on given problems.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSalah satu fungsi pendidikan adalah sebagai proses pembentukan pribadi. Dengan demikian pendidikan harus mampu berperan dalam menyiapkan peserta didik membangun kepribadian, dan menumbuhkan nation and character building, diantaranya adalah memiliki visi, komitmen, konsisten dan tanggung jawab. Pembelajaran matematika humanis yang dilaksanakan oleh guru bersama siswa di kelas memegang peranan penting pada pembentukan karakter. Pembelajaran ini akan membentuk nilai-nilai kemanusiaan dalam diri siswa. Selain memahami dan menguasai konsep matematika, siswa akan terlatih bekerja mandiri maupun bekerjasama dalam kelompok, bersikap kritis, kreatif, konsisten, berpikir logis, sistematis, menghargai pendapat, jujur, percaya diri, dan bertanggung jawab. Kemudahan dalam mempelajari matematika dapat membuat siswa menghargai dan mencintai matematika. Dengan adanya ketertarikan dalam belajar matematika membuat siswa percaya diri bahwa pelajaran sesulit apapun dapat dipelajarinya.ABSTRACTOne of the functions of education is a process of personal formation. Thus education should be able to play a role in preparing students to build a personality, and growing nation and character building, including the vision, commitment, consistency and responsibility. Learning mathematics humanist implemented by teachers with students in the classroom plays an important role in the formation of character. These lessons will shape human values in students. In addition to understanding and mastering math concepts, students will be trained to work independently as well as work in teams, to be critical, creative, consistent, logical, systematic, value the opinions, honest, confident, and responsible. Ease in learning mathematics can make students appreciate and love math. With the interest in learning mathematics makes students confident that any difficult lessons can be learned.

Abstract

This is a descriptive study aimed to examine mathematics teachers’ ability to master various research-based innovative teaching approaches and their ability to plan, implementi, and assess their teaching and learning procesess. The subjects of this study are 16 mathematics teachers from four different districts in West Java who collaborated with 8 post-gradute students of STKIP Siliwangi Bandung as a part of Lesson Study program. The instruments of this study are an observation sheet and writen and oral interview with the teachers. The study revealed that:1) The teachers’ ability on mastering various innovative teaching learning approaches based on a research was at low level; 2) Teachers’ ability on planning, implementing, and assessing their teaching and learning process was at medium level; 3) There is high association between teachers’ ability on mastering various innovative teaching learning approaches based on a research and their abilities on planning and implementing teaching-learning process; 4) There is medium associationbetween teachers’ ability on mastering various innovative teaching learning approaches based on a research and their ability on assessing their teaching-learning process; 5) Lesson Study Activities between teachers and students as an effort to share reseacrh outcomes of university lecturers with school teachers. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan menelaah penguasaan guru matematika terhadap beragam pembelajaran inovatif berbasis penelitian yang dikaitkan dengan kemampuan guru dalam merencanakan, melaksanakan dan mengevaluasi pembelajaran yang dilakukannya. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 16 orang guru sekolah menengah yang berasal dari 4 kabupaten yang berbeda di Jawa Barat yang berkolaborasi dengan 8 mahasiswa pasca sarjana Pendidikan Matematika dari sebuah STKIP di Badung dalam rangka kegiatan Lesson Study. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui observasi pembelajaran dan wawancara lisan dan tertulis dengan guru tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Penguasaan guru matematika terhadap beragam pembelajaran inovatif berbasis penelitian masih berada pada level rendah; 2) Kemampuan merencanakan, melaksanakan, dan mengevaluasi pembelajaran berada pada level sedang; 3) Terdapat asosiasi yang tinggi antara penguasaan guru matematika terhadap beragam pembelajaran inovatif berbasis penelitian dengan kemampuan merencanakan dan melaksanakan pembelajaran; 4) Terdapat asosiasi yang sedang antara penguasaan guru matematika terhadap beberapa pembelajaran inovatif berbasis penelitian dengankemampuan mengevaluasi pembelajaran; 5) KegiatanLesson Study antara guru dan mahasiswa merupakan upaya mendiseminasikan hasil penelitian para akademisi kepada guru di sekolah.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to improve communication skills and mathematical disposition in mathematical learning using inquiry method of alberta model and assosiation between the two. The The subjects of this study are students of SMP class VII as many as two classes with a total of 64 students. The instrument used in data collection is a written test for communication and mathematical disposition. The research method used in this research is using quasi experiment. Communication data and mathematical dispositions were analyzed using Mann Whitney nonparametric tests. The results obtained from this study were obtained: (1) Improvement of students' communication skills whose learning method using Inquiry Model Alberta is better than the usual method; (2) The mathematical disposition of students whose learning method using the Inquiry Model Alberta is better than the usual method; (3) There is a assosiation between communication ability with mathematical disposition of students whose learning method using Inquiry Model AlbertaKeywords: Communication, Mathematical Disposition, Alberta Model Inquiry Method.

Abstract

Based on research, most students have difficulty understanding the principles and operations of numbers. Therefore, the writer was moved to do this research. This research is classified as a qualitative descriptive research that aims to describe students' difficulties when working on problems in the Numbers material. The research subjects were 15 students of class VII B SMP Pasundan 1 Cimahi. The data processing technique in this study uses the formula proposed by Arikunto. From the results of the analysis, the first indicator 73% is classified as sufficient category. The second indicator, namely 55%, is in the poor category. The third indicator reached 73% in the sufficient category. The 4th indicator reached 82% in the good category. The 5th indicator reached 89% in the very good category. From the description above, it is clear that students have the most difficulty in working on number problems, namely that students are still difficult in working on questions with complicated operations. The factors behind these difficulties are: (1) Lack of understanding of the concept of work on number operations, (2) Teacher discussion that is not clear, (3) Insufficient use of learning media.

Abstract

Mann Whitney test sig value (2-tailed) 0.00. This means that the GRASPS-based PjBL model significantly improves junior high school students' skills in solving mathematical problems. The integrated learning process involving projects allows students to relate mathematical concepts to real situations, strengthen their understanding of the topics studied, and develop problem-solving and collaboration skills. In conclusion, the improvement of mathematical problem solving skills of VIII grade students whose learning uses the GRASPS-based PjBL model is better than those who use ordinary learning. The implication of this research is the importance of developing learning strategies that encourage active student involvement, linking learning with real contexts, such as problem solving and collaboration in the context of mathematics education.

Abstract

The motivation behind this investigation was the weak performance of children in math problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of problem-based learning model on improving students' ability to solve mathematical problems. This study utilized a quasi-experiment method with a Nonequivalent Control Group design. The subjects in this study were class VII B as the experimental group and class VII C as the control group. Each of the two classes had thirty-five students.  The purpose of using a control group as a comparison is to observe what symptoms appear in the group of participants who receive treatment. The conclusion shows that the Problem Based Learning model has a significant impact on the average N-Gain score based on the variation between the pretest score and the final score, namely the posttest score, where the average N-Gain score of the experimental and control classes is significantly different.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of class VIII students. The aim of the research is to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the Discovery Learning model on students' mathematical communication skills, by comparing the experimental class that uses the Discovery Learning model and the control class that uses conventional learning. This research method is quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design in two groups (Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design). The research subjects consisted of students from class VIII-A as the control class and VIII-B as the experimental class, each numbering 25 people at SMP Negeri 2 Takokak. The data collection technique uses instruments to test students' mathematical communication skills on the System of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV). Students' mathematical communication ability tests were given twice at pretest and posttest. Data processing and analysis uses the Microsoft Excel 2021 application and SPSS 25 software. The results of the research show that the effectiveness of students' mathematical communication skills who learn through the Discovery Learning model is better than conventional learning.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to look at the improvement in mathematical communication skills of eighth-grade students who used the discovery learning model with eighteenth-year-olds who used conventional models. The experimental quota method used in the research this time. The research subjects involved two classes VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Cihampelas, in which one class applied the discovery learning model VIII-1 and the other class using conventional learning VIII-5. The data in this study is obtained from five tests on the description of mathematical communication abilities. The research data is derived from the results of pretes and postes and then processed with the test of data normality, test of homogenity of variance, and test of significance of difference 2 averages using the help of IBM SPSS Statistic 27 software. The results of the study showed that the improved mathematical communication skills of eighth-grade students who used the discovery learning model were better compared to eighteenth-year-olds who used conventional models. Thus, the discovery learning model can be used as an alternative to the application of mathematics in the learning process to improve students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

Students' difficulty in communicating a problem into a mathematical model is one of the important things that must be corrected. This research was carried out based on the results of a preliminary study which showed that students' mathematical communication skills in statistics material were stull low. This study aims to determine students' difficulties in solving application problems. The research method used in this research is qualitative. This research was conducted in an elementary school in West Bandung Regency with 32 V class students as subjects. The instruments used in this study were a descprition test consisting of four questions and interviews. The indicators of mathematical communication used are : (1) Expressing everyday events in symbols or mathematical language, (2) Explain ideas, situations, and mathematical relations with real objects, pictures, graphs, and algebra, (3) Expressing images in the form of ordinary language, (4) Read with comprehension a written mathematical presentation The results of the study show that students still have difficulty communicating the given application problems, especially in making diagrams. Students feel confused in communicating from ordinary forms into diagrammatic forms. Students are confused in determining the value and frequency in the form of a diagram. students also have difficulty reading diagrams and changing the results of the diagrams into ordinary language.
