Abstract

The rural area's student difficulties in learning the concept of number operation had been documented by several studies, especially for the case of multiplication. The teacher typically introduces the multiplication concepts using the formula without involving the concept itself. Furthermore, this study aims to design learning trajectory on multiplication operations in the Mathematics of GASING (Math GASING) by focusing more on the concept itself than the formula and by starting from the informal to a formal level of teaching. Design research used as the research method to solve this problem consisting of three phases, namely preliminary design, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research results show that the Math GASING has a real contribution for students to understanding and mastering in the concept of the multiplication operations. This research also explains the strategy and the model discovered by students in learning multiplication that the students used as a basic concept of multiplication. Finally, the students were able to understand the concept of multiplication more easily, and they showed interest in using this learning trajectory.

Abstract

Parental engagement is a key determinant of early childhood development, yet many families face practical and psychological barriers to meaningful involvement in their children’s education. This study addresses this gap by rigorously exploring the impact of a video-based finger puppet-making training initiative on parental engagement within early childhood education (ECE) contexts. The study involved five parents from a semi-urban ECE center in Indonesia, each with varying levels of education and digital literacy, providing insight into the program’s accessibility and relevance across diverse backgrounds. Employing a qualitative case study methodology, the research drew on semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and analysis of participant-produced artifacts. Thematic analysis revealed four principal outcomes: First, participants reported heightened self-efficacy in crafting practices, with video-based scaffolding enabling skill development at an individualized pace. Second, the finger puppet activity fostered emotionally resonant storytelling and strengthened literacy practices at home. Third, the training led to increased and more substantive engagement with educators, suggesting an emergent co-educator role among caregivers. Lastly, the asynchronous video format was effective in accommodating diverse schedules and technological capacities, although minor digital access limitations were noted. This study’s findings corroborate and extend scholarship on adult learning theory, symbolic interactionism, and digital pedagogy. Practically, the low-cost, flexible nature of the intervention demonstrates significant potential for broader adoption in diverse ECE contexts, supporting inclusive parent engagement policies. The results offer actionable insights for educators and policymakers seeking to implement scalable, culturally responsive strategies to bridge home–school learning.

Abstract

Technological skills in Indonesian society need to be trained in order to be socially competent and able to face challenges in the future. The gap that occurs at this time is the rapid development of technology so that human resources are not ready to optimize it properly. The author designs Canva-assisted interactive learning media integrated with the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated and Reading Composition) learning model so that students as one of the human resources can be motivated in significant technological developments. This research uses a Design Research approach with the stages of Preliminary Study, Formative Evaluation and Summative Evaluation. This research was conducted in one of the Junior High Schools in Cianjur Regency. After a series of stages were carried out, the responses given by students to the media developed in the visual group were in the average range of 4-5. This shows that the learning media developed gets a good response and is feasible to use in learning mathematics, especially building materials. It is hoped that this media can be developed on other materials and can motivate other math teachers.

Abstract

This study is predicated on the hypothesis that victims of psychosocial stress brought on by the pandemic are a particularly vulnerable group that need preventive measures to assist them in overcoming mental health concerns via the power of interpersonal communication. family grouping that includes both parents and their children This study's objective was to investigate how maintaining open lines of communication between parents and their adolescents influenced the mental health of the adolescent participants in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak. This inquiry has a strong emphasis on many theoretical frameworks, including those pertaining to communication, interpersonal communication, parents, adolescents, and mental health. For the purpose of this inquiry, the qualitative descriptive technique was used. Participants in this study are members of the community who are also parents of adolescents. These parents were selected for participation in the study using a methodical sampling pro kucedure. The majority of the data for this research came through in-depth interviews, which served as the main technique of data gathering. In spite of the prevalence of the COV virus, the researchers discovered that maintaining open lines of communication between parents and adolescents was beneficial to the adolescents' mental health. All of these roles, informing, teaching, monitoring, and motivating a kid, are fundamental components of communication between parents and their children. The role of parents as communicators makes adolescents' mental health more important for their physical, mental, spiritual, and social development.

Abstract

Students frequently respond to problems posed by their instructors through trial and error, without first grasping the underlying concepts. They often perceive the problems as entirely new and unrelated to their previous experiences, leading to a lack of confidence and reinforcing the belief that mathematics is a difficult subject. Consequently, their responses are often incorrect or incomplete. The objective of this study is to describe the mathematical problem-solving abilities of grade XI students on the topic of sequences and series in one of the schools in Bekasi Regency. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data analysis techniques based on the interactive model developed by Miles and Huberman. The subjects of this study were 25 grade XI students selected using purposive sampling. The test instrument consisted of problem-solving tasks, while non-test data were obtained through interviews. The results indicate that students' mathematical problem-solving abilities fall into three categories: 4% of students demonstrated high problem-solving skills, 4% were in the medium category, and 92% were classified as low. A detailed analysis of problem-solving indicators reveals that: (1) in understanding the problem, many students struggled to identify the given information and the goal of the problem; (2) in devising a solution plan, most students failed to select an appropriate strategy, often guessing rather than structuring a logical approach; (3) in executing the plan, students in the low category frequently made calculation errors and misapplied formulas; and (4) in reflecting on the solution, very few students revisited their answers to verify accuracy or consider alternative methods. These findings suggest that students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities remain relatively low, with significant gaps in comprehension, planning, execution, and reflection. Strengthening these aspects through targeted interventions is necessary to enhance students’ overall problem-solving skills.
