Abstract

Banana is one of the community's most cultivated and utilized agricultural commodities. Currently, Indonesia only has 101 registered types of local varieties of bananas, one of which is Roid bananas from the Jatigede District. The local community has not taken care of Roid bananas and let them grow wildly. The exploitation of Roid usage without any conservation and preservation efforts can affect the scarcity of banana Roid as a genetic resource. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the istribution and genetic diversity of banana Roid through in situ exploration and characterization. This study aimed to identify genetic diversity's potential and arrange the conservation strategy for banana Roid (Musa spp.) in Jatigede District. This activities was conducted in April – November 2022 in Ciranggem Village, Jemah Village, and Mekarasih Village. The data was collected by exploration, survey, and interview methods. Banana Rod has the highest ICS value of 99 compared to other types of bananas. The proposed method of conservation and preservation of local varieties is in situ conservation centered in Mekarasih Village, Jatigede District, Sumedang

Abstract

Bananas are one of Indonesia’s most important horticultural crops, valued for their adaptability and economic potential. Among them, the Roid banana (ABB) (Musa spp.) stands out as a local variety native to West Java-Indonesia, particularly the Jatigede District, Sumedang Regency where it thrives naturally without agronomic inputs. Known for its resistance to pests and diseases, long shelf life, and strong fruit attachment that reduces post-harvest losses, the Roid banana remains underutilized and understudied. Despite its advantages, research on its genetic diversity is limited, highlighting the need for characterization as a foundation for conservation and breeding. This study, conducted from October to December 2023 in the Jatigede District, aimed to analyze the distribution patterns and genetic diversity of Roid bananas. Characterization used a survey method and purposive sampling in situ. Results revealed two primary clusters dominated by accessions from Ciranggem and Jemah Villages. Key traits supported clusters were peduncle curvature, bunch length and density, number of fruit hands, male flower attitude, apex shape, skin color, plant height, and the presence of hermaphrodite flowers. The genetic diversity based on Euclidean distances was 0.47 to 11.92. The Index of Cultural Significance value was 105, implying a very high level of utilization diversity. These findings highlight the genetic richness and cultural importance of Roid bananas, offering valuable insights for future conservation and breeding programs. Keywords: characterization; cluster analysis; exploration; Index Cultural Significance (ICS); Musa spp.

Abstract

The Lawang District Government holds the responsibility to establish an Information Technology (IT) Governance protocol to fulfill governmental duties and maximize the value of public services, considering the crucial role of information technology. The governance framework must align with the mission of Lawang District as a public service institution. This study aims to design an IT governance framework that supports public service delivery in Lawang District, Malang Regency, by utilizing the COBIT 5 framework, focusing on the subdomains EDM01 (Ensure Governance Framework Setting and Maintenance), EDM04 (Ensure Resource Optimization), DSS01 (Manage Operations), and DSS03 (Manage Problems). The study measures the capability level of IT governance in Lawang District and formulates recommendations to improve public services through better IT governance practices. The findings are expected to enhance the quality, transparency, and accountability of public services in the district. The research methodology includes data collection through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and literature reviews, followed by data analysis using the COBIT 5 framework. Based on the analysis results, the capability levels for subdomains EDM01, EDM04, DSS01, and DSS03 are at Level 3 (Established Process), while the target level for all subdomains is Level 4, indicating a gap of one level. This means that the Lawang District Office has established standardized processes that are implemented consistently across the organization but still requires improvement to reach an optimized and measurable governance state.
