Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of synonymy of Minangkabau language adjective pairs based on the type of usage in Nagari Talang Babungo, Hiliran Gumanti District, Solok Regency. this type of research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The data of this research are utterances containing adjective synonyms in the Minangkabau language in the Talang Babungo village, Hiliran Gumanti District, Solok Regency. The source of the research data is pairs of synonymous adjectives, totaling 82 pairs. Data analysis in this study was carried out by working steps. First, analysis of meaning components, antonyms and substitutions.Second, identify the types level of synonyms of adjectives. Third, to conclude research data.In this study, four types of synonyms were found in the Minangkabau language in Nagari Talang Babungo, Solok Regency, namely absolute complete synonyms as many 41 pairs, complete not absolute as many 9 pairs, absolute incomplete as many 22 pairs and incomplete not absolute as many 10 pairs. The most dominant type of synonym found is absolute complete synonym.

Abstract

The background of the research is aimed at preserving the kaba as a Minangkabau cultural heritage that is almost extinct even though it contains many moral values. In addition, the use of directive speech acts is inseparable from the dialogue of the characters in the kaba. This article aims to describe the function of directive speech acts in the kaba Rambun Pamenan by Sutan Mangkudun. This research uses a descriptive method with qualitative research design. The data source used is the Kaba Rambun Pamenan. The conversations of the Kaba Rambun Pamenan figures served as the study's data. Data was collected by the note-taking method, namely by reading as a whole and grouping based on research objectives. Data analysis was done by the triangulation method. The data were analyzed by: (1) identifying the data based on the directive speech act function, (2) classifying the data based on the directive speech act function, (3) analyzing the data according to the research objectives, (4) formulating research findings and discussion, (5) formulating conclusion. Based on the discussion, there are five functions of directive speech acts, namely, ordering, pleading, suggesting, demanding, and challenging.

Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to describe the types of meaning relations in Minangkabau proverbs. This type of research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The subject of this research is speech or lingual unit of language that has a type of meaning relation. The object of this research is Minangkabau proverbs. The data will be analyzed with the following steps: (1) recording and translating the data in the data source into written language, namely from data from observations and documentation studies (2) identifying and classifying the types of meaning relationships (3) analyzing data in accordance with the research objectives and (4) formulating research findings. Based on the types of meaning relations in Minangkabau proverbs, there are four types of meaning relations analyzed, namely synonymy, antonym, hyponymy and meronymy. The types of synonymy meaning relations found as many as 51 expressions. The type of antonym meaning relation found 68 expressions. The type of hyponymy meaning relation found 24 expressions. The type of meronymy meaning relation found 63 expressions. The type of meaning relation that is often found is antonym type. Keywords: meaning relations, types, functions, proverbs

Abstract

Due to Indonesia's high population density and language abundance, language-related phenomena such as code mixing, code switching, and bilingualism occur. As a result, Indonesians have become bilingual and multilingual and speak many languages. The purpose of this study is to explain the various types of code switching and mixing contained in Asma Nadia's novel until its appearance. The findings obtained through the use of this descriptive approach were incorporated into qualitative research. The research data are in the form of dialogue and author narration, containing code switching and code mixing. This finding is based on reading, recording, and classifying data using the observation method. Triangulation methods are very helpful for validating data. Data analysis revealed that there is only one type of code mixing and code switching in this novel by Asma Nadia. Exit code mixing obtained as many as 376 data and code switching as many as 94 data. One type of code mixing and one type of code switching are also caused by five factors. From these findings, readers can find out the various types of code mixing and code switching and their causes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe: (1) the forms of swear expressions, (2) the categories of swear expressions, and (3) the function of swear expressions in the Minangkabau language in the interaction of young people in Nagari Limo Koto, Koto VII District, Sijunjung Regency. The data source for this research is young people, especially junior high school/equivalent and high school/equivalent students in Nagari Limo Koto, Koto VII District, Sijunjung Regency. This type of research uses qualitative research with descriptive methods. The research data is in the form of utterances that contain forms, categories, and functions of swear expressions in the Minangkabau language used by young people in Nagari Limo Koto, Koto VII District, Sijunjung Regency in their interactions. The method used is the method of listening to the tapping technique. The data were then analyzed in the following stages: (1) transcribing the recorded data into written language, (2) identifying the data according to the identification table, (3) classifying the data into forms, categories, and functions of swear expressions, and (4) make conclusions based on research data. The results of this study, namely (1) the form of swear expressions, consists of three forms, namely (a) words, (b) phrases, and (c) clauses; (2) categories of swear expressions, consisting of three categories, namely (a) noun categories, (b) verbs, and (c) adjectives; (3) the function of swearing, consisting of six functions, namely (1) to express resentment, (2) to express strong resentment, (3) to express jokes or jokes, (4) to express intimacy in association, (5 ) to express insults, and (6) as a substitute for a person's name or nickname.

Abstract

This article aims to describe violations of the principles of linguistic politeness in the comedy drama Lapor Pak in Trans 7. This research is a qualitative linguistic research with descriptive methods by describing the data found to obtain general conclusions. The data used in this research is in the form of speeches from actors in the comedy drama sketch Lapor Pak. Data collection was carried out by: (a) watching video replays on YouTube (b) then transcribing them from oral to written form (c) classifying speech in table format (d) identifying speech formats that violate the six maxims according to Geoffrey Leech. The results of this research show that: 136 types of violations of the principle of wisdom were found, violations of the principle of praise were 162 statements, violations of the principle of humility were 14 statements, and violations of the maxim of sympathy were 34 statements. The Principle of Generosity is not found.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) Describe the types of code switching in the film Liam and Laila, (2) Describe the factors that cause code switching in the film Liam and Laila (3) Describe the types of code mixing in the film Liam and Laila, (4) Describe the factors that cause it to occur. code mixing in the film Liam and Laila. This research is included in the type of qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data for this research are dialogues in which there is code switching and code mixing. The data source for this research is the film script Liam and Laila (transcribed video) which contains dialogues from the characters. The data collection technique for this research is non-participant observation. Observations begin with (1) watching the film Liam and Laila, (2) record and transcribe the film recordings of Liam and Laila, (3) observe and analyze every dialogue that appears, (4) use the katat technique to collect every data obtained from the observations, (5) collect and record all the dialogue in which there are elements of code switching and code mixing to be explained further. The results of this research are. First, the type of code switching that occurs in the film Liam and Laila is divided into two, namely (1) external code switching which includes code switching from Indonesian to English and vice versa (2) internal code switching which includes code switching from Indonesian to English. Minangkabau and vice versa. Second, the types of code mixing are (1) outbound code mixing which includes code mixing in Indonesian and English (2) inward code mixing which includes code mixing in Indonesian and Minangkabau. The third factor that causes code switching includes (1) Speaker (2) Speech partner (3) Generating a sense of humor (4) Just being prestigious. The four factors that cause code mixing include (1) speaker factors (2) linguistic factors.

Abstract

Abstract This article was written based on the results of research on the use of acronyms in the social media Facebook statuses. The choice of social media Facebook status as a data source was motivated by the large number of acronyms found on social media Facebook status, making it difficult for readers to understand them, such as the Facebook accounts of presidential candidates in 2024 which still use acronyms in party names, names of communities, institutions, other words. trends, activities and more. Therefore, the problem presented in this article specifically concerns the use and pattern of forming acronyms in the social media Facebook status of presidential candidates in 2024. The data processed is in the form of words or phrases contained in the Facebook status object of presidential candidates in 2024. The method used Data collection uses a descriptive method, namely research that is carried out without using numbers but is obtained in the form of descriptive data in the form of vocabulary, but the data is taken first by copying and pasting the data. The results obtained are words that are shortened into acronyms and patterns of acronym formation from the data. The results of this research can be used to enrich language knowledge and lecture materials, including in morphology courses.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of language in communicating using speech that expresses the truth. This research aims to describe (1) the characteristics of each type of assertive speech act in the defense note text and (2) the politeness principles of assertive speech acts in the defense note text. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The research data is in the form of sentences conveyed in the text of the defense note in the criminal trial for the murder of Brigadier Yoshua Hutabarat, including Ferdy Sambo, Kuat Ma'ruf, Putri Candrawathi, Richard Eliezer, and Ricky Rizal. Data collection in this research used free, interactive listening using the KORTARA application. The data analysis technique used is computational linguistics in accordance with the corpus processing application used. Based on the research results, it was found that, first, the types of assertive speech acts, namely stating, informing, complaining, reporting, and suggesting. Second, the principles of politeness in assertive speech acts, namely the maxims of simplicity, wisdom, respect, consensus and sympathy.

Abstract

This research aims to describe: first, the types of code switching in the film Tabularasa, second, the types of code mixing in the film Tabularasa, and three, the factors causing code switching and code mixing in the film Tabularasa. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data collected in this research was then analyzed using the following steps: (1) transcribing the conversations in the film into written language, (2) identifying the data according to the format provided, (3) classifying the data into types of code switching and mixing. code, (4) classifying the factors causing code switching and code mixing in the film Tabularasa, (5) discussing research findings, and (6) drawing conclusions from the research results. There are three findings in this research. First, the types of code switching found in the Tabularasa film are internal code switching and external code switching. In this research, the most dominant type of code switching found was internal code switching, namely switching from Indonesian to Minang or vice versa. Second, the type of code mixing found in the film Tabularasa was divided into two, namely internal and external code mixing. Of the two types of code mixing, the one most often found in this film is internal code mixing, namely code mixing between Indonesian and Minang or vice versa. The three factors causing code switching found in the film Tabularasa are, (1) the speaker and the person of the speaker, (2) the speech partner, (3) the presence of a third speaker, (4) the place and time the speech is carried out, (5) the mode of conversation, and (6) conversation topic. Meanwhile, the factors causing code mixing in the film Tabularasa are due to speaker and language factors. With the largest percentage in the form of speaker factors
