Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara perubahan histopatologi pada anjing penderita Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) dikaitkan dengan umur. Sampel organ dari anjing (otak, paru-paru, hati, dan ginjal) yang terinfeksi CDV diambil dari kasus CDV pada periode 2005 – 2011 di Laboratorium Patologi Veteriner, Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan, Universitas Udayana. Lesi histopatologi di masing-masing organ yang diperiksa kemudian dikaitkan dengan faktor umur anjing penderita distemper. Jaringan dari masing-masing organ diproses untuk menjadi preparat histopatologi dilakukan dengan pewarnaan hematoksilin eosin (HE). Sampel – sampel tersebut dikelompokkan berdasarkan umur. Hasilnya menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara perubahan histopatologi organ anjing terinfeksi CDV dengan umur anjing saat anjing tersebut terinfeksi. Anjing penderita distemper yang berumur muda lesi histopatologinya lebih parah dari pada anjing dewasa, baik dari tingkat lesi degenerasi, kongesti, perdarahan, peradangan maupun nekrosis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan tingkat autolisis antara otot dan hati sapi bali pada beberapa periode waktu pengamatan. Spesimen diambil dari otot dan hati sapi bali yang dipotong di rumah pemotongan hewan Kota Denpasar. Spesimen yang diambil sebanyak tujuh potongan hati dan tujuh potongan otot masing-masing dari individu sapi yang berbeda-beda yang dimasukkan ke dalam tabung jaringan yang berisi Neutral buffer formalin (NBF) 10 % pada beberapa periode waktu yaitu pada jam ke-0, 2, 4, 6, 8,10, dan 12. Selanjutnya masing-masing diproses untuk pembuatan preparat histopatologi. Variabel yang diperiksa meliputi indikasi autolisis yaitu : jaringan hiperkromatik sampai hilangnya inti sel. Analisis tingkat autolisis antara otot dan hati dilakukan dengan pengamatan histopatologi jaringan di bawah mikroskop pada pembesaran 1000 kali dengan pengamatan lima lapang pandang. Data hasil penelitian berupa presentase skoring autolisis, dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji non parametrik Kruskal-Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hati sapi bali dengan nilai rata-rata 15,70%, 22,10%, 29,10%, 55,20%, 74,10%,93% dan 96,45% memiliki tingkat autolisis lebih cepat dibanding otot dengan nilai rata-rata 10%, 14,90%, 19%, 27,90%, 53%, 61% dan 83,70% . Hal ini mungkin terjadi karena hati memiliki jumlah enzim dan pembuluh darah yang lebih banyak dibandingkan otot. Perlu penelitian lebih lanjut tentang tingkat autolisis antara otot dan hati sapi bali yang berasal dari hewan sakit atau mati akibat penyakit infeksius

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan gambaran histopatologi lambung tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan yang diberikan amoxicillin dikombinasikan dengan asam mefenamat dan deksametason. Terdapat 3 kelompok perlakuan dengan ulangan 10 ekor tikus. Perlakuan diberi selama 3 hari. Tikus perlakuan 1 diberi amoksisilin 150 mg/kg BB/hari. Tikus perlakuan 2 diberi amoksisilin 150 mg/kg BB/hari kombinasi asam mefenamat 45 mg/kgBB/hari. Tikus perlakuan 3 diberi amoksisilin 150 mg/kg BB/hari kombinasi deksametason 0,5 mg/kgBB/hari. Pada hari ke -7 dan hari ke-14, 5 ekor tikus di setiap kelompok perlakuan lambungnya dikoleksi dan diamati perubahan histopatologinya, kemudian diberikan skoring dan dianalisis menggunakan metode Kruskal-Wallis dan apabila berbeda nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Mann-Whitney. Hasil pemeriksaan menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan nyata (P<0,05), antara perlakuan 2 dengan perlakuan 1 dan 3.

Abstract

Abstract: Excessive physical activity can cause oxidative stress characterized by increased free radicals in the body. This oxidative stress will cause damages to a variety of cells, inter alia β cells of islets of Langerhans in pancreas. This study aimed to determine that acute overtraining could increase the risk of type I diabetes mellitus through induction of pancreatic β cell damages. This study used a completely randomized design with total samples of 36 mice divided into 3 groups. Group P0 was the group of mice without treatment; group P1 was treated with overworking and a recovery period of 48 hours; and group P2 was treated with overworking and a recovery period of 24 hours. After 14 days of treatment, the pancreas of all groups were taken for histological examination using Gomori chrome hematoxylin phloxine B staining. The descriptive analysis showed that the pancreatic tissues of groups P1 and P2 were morphologically damaged compared to group P0. The results of quantitative observations were analyzed by using One way Anova test followed by LSD, indicated that the number of pancreatic β-cells was significantly decreased among the groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Acute overtraining may cause damages of pancreatic β cells.Keywords: excessive physical work, pancreatic β cellsAbstrak: Aktivitas fisik berlebihan dapat menyebabkan terjadinya stres oksidatif yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya radikal bebas di dalam tubuh. Stres oksidatif akan menyebabkan kerusakan berbagai macam sel, salah satunya sel β pulau langerhans pankreas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas fisik maksimal akut (acute overtraining) dalam meningkatkan risiko terjadinya diabetes melitus tipe I melalui induksi kerusakan sel β pankreas. Rancangan penelitian ini ialah completely randomized design dengan sampel 36 ekor mencit yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok. Kelompok P0 ialah kelompok mencit tanpa perlakuan; kelompok P1 diberi perlakuan beban kerja maksimal dengan periode pemulihan selama 48 jam; dan kelompok P2 diberi perlakuan beban kerja maksimal dengan periode pemulihan selama 24 jam. Setelah 14 hari perlakuan, keseluruhan kelompok sampel diambil organ pankreasnya untuk dibuat sediaan histologik dengan pewarnaan khusus Gomori chrome hematoxylin phloxine B. Analisis deskriptif kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa morfologi jaringan pankreas pada kelompok P1 dan P2 mengalami kerusakan jika dibandingkan P0. Hasil pengamatan kuantitatif dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji One way Anova dilanjutkan dengan Least Significant Difference (LSD), menunjukkan bahwa terjadi penurunan jumlah sel β pankreas yang signifikan antar kelompok P0, P1, dan P2 (P < 0,05). Simpulan: Aktivitas fisik maksimal akut dapat menyebabkan kerusakan sel β pankreas.Kata kunci: beban kerja maksimal, sel β pankreas

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk membuktikan bahwa pemberian gentamisin 250 mg/kgBB mempengaruhi histopatologi paru-paru untuk mengetahui efek protektif sarang semut terhadap paru-paru tikus putih yang diberikan gentamisin dosis toksik. Penelitian ini menggunakan 24 ekor tikus putih jantan dengan berat badan 200-300 g ram yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan, yaitu kontrol (P0) tanpa perlakuan, perlakuan 1 (P1) diberi gentamisin dosis 250 mg/kg BB, perlakuan 2 (P2) diberi gentamisin dosis 250 mg/kgBB ditambah sarang semut dosis 250 mg/kg BB, perlakuan 3 (P3) diberikan sarang semut 250 mg/kg BB selama tujuh hari setelah itu diberikan ekstrak sarang semut dan gentamisin dosis 250 mg/kg BB. Gentamisin dan ekstrak sarang semut diberikan secara per oral selama 10 hari. Setelah itu nyawa tikus percobaan dikorbankan kemudian dilakukan nekropsi dan organ paru-paru diambil secara aseptik untuk pembuatan preparat histopatologi dengan pewarnaan Hematoksilin dan Eosin (HE). Pembuatan preparat histopatologi dengan pewarnaan menggunakan metode HE dibuat di laboratorium patologi. Variabel yang diperiksa adalah infiltrasi sel radang, edema, dan nekrosis. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan hasil pemberian ekstrak sarang semut per oral terhadap tikus putih yang sudah diberi gentamisin (250 mg/kg BB) mengalami perbaikan pada lesi nekrosis, begitu pula pada lesi infiltrasi sel radang dan edema meskipun secara statistik tidak signifikan (P>0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian ekstrak sarang semut dengan dosis 250 mg/kgBB belum mampu memperbaiki kerusakan jaringan paru-paru yang diberikan gentamisin dosis 250 mg/kg BB.

Abstract

Aim: Avian Influenza (AI) is a zoonotic disease that causes death in poultry and humans. Monitoring the virus needs to be carried out continuously to prevent outbreaks of the disease. Seroprevalence and detection of H5N1 and H9N2 AI virus antigen were intended to monitor the presence of viruses in local chickens in Tabanan, a Regency of the Indonesian island Province of Bali. The research aims were to detect the presence of H5N1 AI virus, and to know the distribution of this virus in Tabanan Regency. Materials and Methods: Research located in six districts of Tabanan regency namely Baturiti, Penebel, Marga, Kediri, Tabanan, and Kerambitan. A total of 1,398 local chickens that never been vaccinated with AI were randomly sampled in this study. The samples collected were serum, cloacal and tracheal swabs. Serum samples were tested with hemagglutination inhibition (HI) assay. While samples of cloacal and tracheal swabs were isolated in 9-day-old germinated chicken eggs, followed by hemagglutination assay and RT-PCR test using H5N1 and H9N2 primers. Results: AI seroprevalence in local chickens in Tabanan Regency was 1% with the distribution in each district as follows; Penebel 1.6%, Kerambitan 1.2%, Marga 1%, while Tabanan, Kediri, and Baturiti 0.7% each. H5N1 AI virus was detected in 11 samples, i.e. five in Marga district and three in Penebel district, two in Kediri, and one in Tabanan, while the H9N2 AI virus was not detected. Conclusion: These results indicate that H5N1 AI virus may still circulate in local chickens in Tabanan Regency, Bali.

Abstract

Avian Influenza or bird flu is ani nfectious pandemic disease (Horimoto and Kawaoka, 2001). AI viruses can cause high mortality in poultry and infect humans in Indonesia (Daniels et al., 2013). Pet and backyard animals can be infected with the HPAI-H5N1 virus (Mahardika et al., 2018).  Monitoring of the virus needs to be done so that the Avian Influenza outbreak casesare not occurred. Isolation of AI virus can be done on 9-day-old hatched chicken eggs injected through the allantois’ space. The virus can be tested by hemagglutination (HA/HI) and Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Rection (RT-PCR) tests (FAO, 2014).

Abstract

Lead contamination in many foods is reported to endanger consumers' health. Beef as one of the food of animal origin can be contaminated by lead mainly due to the maintenance of cattle in contaminated areas. Balinese cattle that are kept in urban landfills are reported to be contaminated with high levels of lead in the blood and in other tissues with lower levels [4]. The threat of human health from eating foods that contain leads can cause anemia because leads can substitute iron in hemoglobin [2]. Lead poisoning can also cause malfunction of various organs such as liver, kidney [1], lungs, spleen [7] and brain [9] in the form of cognitive impairment [5]. The high threat due to contamination of leads to health, then the meat health check should also be made on the presence of leads. One of the inspection efforts on the presence of lead contamination in beef, then the place of sale in the traditional market is a good location for sampling examination.

Abstract

Rumen and reticulum hold an important role in the ruminant’s digestive tract. During the meal, Bali cattle accidentally ingest foreign objects because they can’t distinguish between foreign body object and feed. Cattles do not really chew food before swallowing. This study aims to determine the existence of a foreign body in the stomach and histopathological overview of Bali cattle rumen and reticulum due to a variety of foreign objects. This study used 10 samples of cattle Bali consisting of nine samples of rumen and reticulum contained foreign objects (plastic, metal, wood and stone) and one normal sample of the rumen and reticulum Bali cattle. Samples were obtained from Slaughter House at Mambal, Abian Semal District, Badung regency, Bali. Based on the results of research conducted on the rumen and reticulum Bali cattle, there are a variety of foreign objects such as plastic, metal, wood and stone. Histopathological changes in the mucosa of the rumen and reticulum form of inflammatory cell infiltration from mild to severe. Conclusions from this research that found a foreign body object in the rumen and reticulum Bali cattle, and foreign body objects cause tissue destruction.

Abstract

Egg Drop Syndrome can cause detrimental impacts on breeders due to reducing production and quality of theaffected eggs.This study aim was to determine the seroprevalece ofantibody against Egg Drop Syndrome (EDS) virus in ducks. Antibody titers examination was done from 75blood samplesof ducks thathave not been vaccinatedagainstEDS virus. The duck samples were collected from Tumbak Bayuh Village, Mengwi, Badung. Serological examination was held at the Virology Laboratory,Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University by usingHaemagglutination Inhibition (HI) test. HI test results showed that 24 samples were positive contained antibody of the EDS,while 51 samples were negative. Range of EDS antibody titer observed was from24 to 27 HI units.  This results indicates that the ducks have protective antibody titer against EDS virus. The positive serum samples were also tested using HI test against Newcastle Disease (ND) virus with negative result. It can be concluded that the ducks in Tumbak Bayuh Village, Mengwi, Badung have 32% of antibody titer against EDS virus whichmight result from being exposed by EDS virus naturally.
