Abstract

The main factors increasing the risk of depression are pregnant women’s lack of knowledge about recognizing signs and symptoms, early detection, and prevention efforts. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of mental health education on pregnant Indonesian women’s knowledge and self-efficacy during the COVID-19 pandemic. A quasi-experimental study was conducted. Pregnant women in four Surakarta primary health care facilities received antenatal care using Basic Emergency Obstetric Neonatal Care. The inclusion criteria for the sample were 127 pregnant women with a gestational age of 24-36 weeks, no family history of mental disorders, a singleton pregnancy, and participation in the intervention from beginning to end. The study excluded pregnant women who experienced complications during their pregnancy. Sample sizes for the intervention and control groups were 67 and 60 pregnant women, respectively. Personal psychoeducation intervention was provided by trained midwives during antenatal care. During the intervention, materials were presented in modules, and videos were shared through WhatsApp groups and discussions. The Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale was used to assess depressive symptoms. The data were analyzed using the paired t-test and independent t-test. Following the intervention, the mean score for knowledge and self-efficacy increased. Depressive symptom scores decreased following the intervention and were significantly different from the control group. Mental health education interventions for pregnant women using modules and videos can improve pregnant women’s knowledge and self-efficacy in preventing antenatal and postnatal depression.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world. Using hormonal contraception is thought to be a factor that increases the risk of breast cancer. Breast cancer prevention can be done with early detection by doing breast self-examination (BSE). Objective: To analyze the factors that associated with BSE behavior on hormonal contraceptive acceptors at the Temanggung Health Center area. Methods: This research is an analytic observational study with cross sectional approach. The population of this study were all acceptors of hormonal contraception at the Temanggung Health Center in January-November 2021, a total of 204 people. The research sample of 135 respondents was taken by simple random sampling. The data were collected by using a questionnaire which was filled in directly by the respondent. The data analysis using software statistics with Chi Square test. Result and discussion: The factors related to BSE behavior on hormonal contraceptive acceptors are perceived susceptibility (p-value 0.048), perceived benefits (p-value 0.000), cues to action (p-value 0.006), and self-efficacy (p-value 0.001). Meanwhile, perceived severity (p-value 0.551) and perceived barriers (p-value 0.071) were not related to BSE behavior. Requires efforts to increase information and education about breast cancer and BSE, especially in risk groups such as hormonal contraceptive acceptors. Keywords: Breast Cancer, Breast Self-Examination, Hormonal Contraception   ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Kanker payudara merupakan salah satu penyebab kematian utama di dunia. Abstract

National Health Insurance (JKN) is a priority for low- and middle-income countries as a way to increase access to health services and reduce the financial burden on health care. The special objective is to analyze the relationship between income and participation in the National Health Insurance (JKN). The 30 respondents, 19 (63.3) respondents were female and 11 (26.7) were male. And aged > 45 years old a total of 15 (50.0) and < 45 years old (50.0). And almost all 23 respondents (69.7) earned < 2,190,206 in each month and as many as 7 respondents with an income of > 2,190,206 in each month. There is a significant positive relationship between the level of opinion and participation in the National Health Insurance program, where the higher the income, the more people participate in the National Health Insurance program. Comprehensive and comparable estimates of health spending across countries are critical to achieving national and international health goals. If there is more health care, the amount of premium that will be issued will also be a lot. Premium increases in the health insurance sector are an uphill task for policymakers to form balanced policies that can provide affordable health care while maintaining survival

Abstract

Background: The ability of pregnant women to prevent anemia is influenced by their social environment support, such as family, husband, or health workers. However, it has not been known which sources of support are preferred and needed by pregnant women. Aims: This study aims to explore the support preferred and needed by pregnant women in preventing anemia. Methods: This study was qualitative research with a case study approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 pregnant women at the gestational age starting from 16 weeks who had pregnancy checks at the Sangkrah, Kratonan, and Gilingan Primary Healthcare Centers, Surakarta City. Informants were obtained through a purposive sampling technique. This study used thematic data analysis. Results: Three emerging themes from this study include 1) pregnant women's perceived ability and motivation to prevent anemia; 2) the support needed to prevent anemia; and 3) information technology support for preventing anemia. Some women felt difficulties preventing anemia, especially in consuming IFA tablets and nutritious food; feeling supported and not alone was the motivation to prevent anemia. The most preferred support was from the husband, and the next was health workers. Pregnant women welcome an application with some features to support preventing anemia. Conclusions: Support from husband and health workers is the most preferred. Pregnant women perceive the benefits of using applications that support anemia prevention. It is necessary to develop applications that integrate support from husbands and health workers to create good conditions that enable and motivate pregnant women to practice anemia prevention behavior.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease with progressively increasing prevalence every year and often leads to complications when not properly managed. Control or success of treatment is influenced by adherence of patients to the treatment process. This study aimed to analyze relationship between medication adherence and fasting glucose levels among DM outpatients. A correlation study was conducted using a cross-sectional approach on a sample of 300 respondents selected by probability sampling technique from the entire population. The instrument used was the MMAS-8 Test (Morisky Scale Medication Adherence Scales-8) and examination of fasting sugar levels. Meanwhile, data analysis was conducted with the Spearman Rho test. The results showed that the highest treatment adherence was in the moderate category by 130 (43.3%) and a decrease in fasting sugar levels was observed among 230 (76.7%) respondents. A significant relationship was found between medication adherence and fasting glucose levels with a p-value = <0.001 and r: -0.597. Based on the results, there was a negative relationship between medication adherence and fasting blood sugar. The higher medication adherence, the better the fasting sugar levels in DM outpatients.
