Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is the leading cause of death for some women and currently ranks first among cancers that attack women. Not a few adolescent girls aged 14 years and above have been indicated to have breast cancer. This activity aims to provide educational communication and information (KIE) about breast cancer to female students of SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta. Method: The community service was held at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta, targeting female students. The techniques used are education and socialisation as well as providing direct training to female students about breast cancer and early detection. 36 female students participated in the community service. Results: The results of the community service show that the average pre-test score is 4.972 and the average post-test score is 6.194 with a significance value of 0.00029 (p<0.05). The results of the community service show that there is a significant difference between the average pre-test and post-test results. Conclusion: The community service activities carried out at SMP 8 Muhammadiyah Surakarta succeeded in increasing students' knowledge about breast cancer and the importance of early detection through the breast self-examination method (SADARI).

Abstract

Background: Elementary school-age children need to get reproductive health information, but parents still have negative perceptions and a lack of knowledge about reproductive health in elementary school children. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using flash cards as educational media to improve parents' knowledge and perceptions of reproductive health education in elementary school-age children. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted with a pretest-posttest control group design in June 2024. The participants in this research were parents of children in grades 1-3 at two elementary schools in Kartasura, with 32 people in the experimental group and 32 in the control group. Statistical analysis used a paired t-test for knowledge, and a Wilcoxon signed rank test for perception. The effectiveness of flashcards on parents' knowledge was tested with an independent t-test, and perception was tested with the Mann-Whitney U test.  The significance level was 5%. Results: The result was an increase in the mean score of knowledge (p-value<0.001) and perception (p-value=0.023) in the intervention group. The mean score did not increase in the control group on these variables. The intervention and control groups differed in parents’ average knowledge (p-value=0.0496) and perception (p-value=0.0036) regarding reproductive health. Conclusions: Flashcards effectively improved parents' knowledge and perceptions about reproductive health education.

Abstract

The results of the situation analysis, there are still pregnant women who do not know about stunting, the causes of stunting and the consequences of stunting. This community service activity aims to provide education about stunting prevention from an early age during pregnancy. The method of this community service activity with pregnant women and posyandu cadres in Purbayan Village, Baki District was carried out using the lecture and question and answer method, the activity was carried out through several stages, including: (1) field survey; (2) preparation for the implementation of activities; (3) pregnancy health checks; (4) pregnancy exercise; (5) pre-test; (6) stunting education; (7) discussion; (8) post-test. To evaluate this activity using pretest and posttest with Power Point Presentation media. The results of the activity showed that in the pretest, 1 person scored in the category of not understanding, 16 people in the category of not understanding, and 1 person in the category of understanding. After being given education there is an increase in value from the results of the pre test to the post test. There are 2 people getting scores in the less understanding category and 16 people in the understanding category. Conclusion: providing education about preventing stunting during pregnancy can increase knowledge about stunting in pregnant women in Purbayan Village.

Abstract

Hypertension is a global health problem with a high prevalence in the elderly population. This condition can increase the risk of serious complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Prevention of hypertension through proper health education is crucial to maintain quality of life and independence. This activity seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of the hypertension prevention education program by increasing knowledge in fit elderly. The method used is a lecture with poster media. The pre-test and post-test were conducted with a 10-item questionnaire and involved 55 participants from various age groups in Klaseman Village, Gatak District, Sukoharjo Regency. The educational intervention included delivering material on the importance of a healthy diet (low salt, high fiber), regular physical activity, stress management, and self-monitoring of blood pressure or regular health checks. The results of the activity showed that after the intervention, there was a significant increase in the level of knowledge. This indicates that a structured and comprehensive education program is effective in empowering fit elderly to adopt a healthy lifestyle and reduce the risk of hypertension.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease with progressively increasing prevalence every year and often leads to complications when not properly managed. Control or success of treatment is influenced by adherence of patients to the treatment process. This study aimed to analyze relationship between medication adherence and fasting glucose levels among DM outpatients. A correlation study was conducted using a cross-sectional approach on a sample of 300 respondents selected by probability sampling technique from the entire population. The instrument used was the MMAS-8 Test (Morisky Scale Medication Adherence Scales-8) and examination of fasting sugar levels. Meanwhile, data analysis was conducted with the Spearman Rho test. The results showed that the highest treatment adherence was in the moderate category by 130 (43.3%) and a decrease in fasting sugar levels was observed among 230 (76.7%) respondents. A significant relationship was found between medication adherence and fasting glucose levels with a p-value = <0.001 and r: -0.597. Based on the results, there was a negative relationship between medication adherence and fasting blood sugar. The higher medication adherence, the better the fasting sugar levels in DM outpatients.

Abstract

Stroke, often caused by hypertension, is the primary focus of this community service project. Knowledge about the care of post-stroke patients is crucial, including understanding proper positioning for turning, appropriate movement exercises, personal hygiene for patients, and special diets for stroke patients. This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the people in Mayang Village regarding the care of post-stroke patients and to prevent complications in stroke patients. The implementation method used is a pre-experimental design with a multiple group pretest-posttest, consisting of (1) planning stage, (2) preparation stage, (3) implementation stage, and (4) evaluation stage. A quantitative approach is applied through pre-test and post-test surveys assessing the knowledge and attitudes of caregivers. The sample includes three caregivers of post-stroke patients and 17 congregants of Mushola Nur Hidayah in Mayang Village. Data were collected using questionnaires before and after educational sessions that included multidisciplinary education, simulations, and discussions. The analysis results indicate a significant improvement in the knowledge and attitudes of the people in Mayang Village regarding proper post-stroke patient care.

Abstract

Abstrak: Kanker serviks merupakan salah satu penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas pada perempuan, yang sebagian besar dapat dicegah melalui edukasi dan deteksi dini. Pemberdayaan masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja putri mengenai kesehatan reproduksi dan pencegahan kanker serviks melalui kegiatan edukasi di SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Kota Surakarta. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi kesehatan menggunakan media power point dan apron serta disampaikan dengan metode ceramah interaktif, serta menggunakan kuesioner pre-test dan post-test pada peserta untuk menganalisis keberhasilan edukasi kesehatan yang telah dilakukan. Sebanyak 63 peserta mengikuti kegiatan ini. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan setelah intervensi, ditandai dengan peningkatan jumlah peserta berkategori pengetahuan baik dari 37 orang pada pre-test menjadi 48 orang pada post-test, serta penurunan kategori pengetahuan kurang dari 26 menjadi 15 orang. Edukasi kesehatan terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman remaja putri mengenai kanker serviks dan kesadaran untuk menjaga kebersihan alat reproduksi wanita. Kegiatan ini direkomendasikan sebagai upaya promotif dan preventif kesehatan reproduksi remaja. Abstract: Cervical cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in women, most of which can be prevented through education and early detection. This community empowerment program aims to increase adolescent girls' knowledge about reproductive health and cervical cancer prevention through educational activities at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta City. The method used was health education using PowerPoint media and aprons and delivered through an interactive lecture method, as well as using pre-test and post-test questionnaires on junior high school students to analyze the success of the health education that had been carried out. A total of 63 participants participated in this activity. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the intervention, marked by an increase in the number of female students with good knowledge from 37 in the pre-test to 48 in the post-test, and a decrease in the category of poor knowledge from 26 to 15. Health education has been proven effective in increasing adolescent girls' understanding of cervical cancer and awareness of maintaining female reproductive hygiene. This activity is recommended as a promotional and preventive effort for adolescent reproductive health.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the role of community health cadres in enhancing reproductive health communication between parents and adolescents. The program was conducted at the Semanggi Village Office, Surakarta, and involved 31 community health cadres representing each neighborhood unit (Rukun Tetangga [RT]). The program was implemented through educational sessions and interactive counseling. Program outcomes were evaluated using a structured questionnaire, and the data were analyzed descriptively. The results demonstrated an improvement in the cadres' knowledge of reproductive health communication, with the mean score increasing from 8.8 in the pre-intervention assessment to 9.2 in the post-intervention assessment. These findings indicate greater consistency in participants' understanding after receiving the educational intervention. Furthermore, the program strengthened the capacity of community health cadres to serve as agents of change at the family and community levels, thereby fostering more effective and sustainable reproductive health communication between parents and adolescents and supporting efforts to prevent adolescent reproductive health problems within the community.

Abstract

Background: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has fundamentally transformed the paradigm of radiological image interpretation. Deep learning capabilities offer opportunities for improved diagnostic accuracy, reduced reading time, and minimized inter-reader variability. However, comprehensive evidence regarding AI’s impact across imaging modalities still requires systematic synthesis, particularly concerning which readers benefit most and under what conditions. This review aimed to synthesize scientific evidence on AI’s impact on diagnostic accuracy, interpretation time, diagnostic confidence, and the factors shaping human–AI interaction in radiology interpretation. Methods: A systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Searches were performed on PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Google Scholar, and IEEE Xplore for studies published between 2021 and 2025. Of 847 identified records, 8 studies met the inclusion criteria as controlled empirical studies, comprising multi-reader, prospective observational, comparative retrospective, and experimental designs. Methodological quality and risk of bias were appraised using the QUADAS-2 tool. Results: The eight included studies covered mammography, chest radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, angiography, and musculoskeletal radiography, encompassing more than 100,000 image readings. AI consistently improved diagnostic sensitivity, with increases ranging from 11.4% to 23.0% across studies, shortened reading time for normal cases, and enhanced diagnostic confidence among readers. Junior radiologists and non-radiologist clinicians consistently benefited the most, suggesting AI functions as a diagnostic equalizer. However, the same group also showed greater susceptibility to automation bias, and AI performance was conditional on model accuracy, explanation design, and technical reliability across subpopulations. Conclusions: AI consistently improves radiological diagnostic performance without compromising reader productivity, with the magnitude of benefit conditional on model accuracy, explanation design, and reader expertise. Implementation in the Indonesian health system should prioritize local validation, AI literacy training for health workers, and integration into JKN/BPJS-based teleradiology models to address the chronic shortage and maldistribution of radiologists. Abstract

Permasalahan gizi merupakan salah satu permasalahan yang masih banyak terjadi di masyarakat dan menjadi salah satu faktor yang beresiko menjadi penyebab kematian terutama pada kelompok resiko tinggi seperti bayi dan balita. Desa Krajan, Kecamatan Gatak merupakan salah satu daerah yang termasuk dalam wilayah Kabupaten Sukoharjo, Jawa Tengah. Berdasarkan data Puskesmas Gatak ditemukan tiga permasalahan tertinggi di Desa Krajan yaitu meliputi permasalahan gizi serta penyakit tidak menular yang mencakup DM dan Hipertensi. Berdasarkan hasil Musyawarah Masyarakat Desa (MMD) bersama dengan perangkat desa dan tenaga kesehatan dengan menggunakan teknik USG (Urgency, Seriousness, Growth) diperoleh bahwa permasalahan gizi terpilih menjadi prioritas masalah utama yang perlu diselesaikan. Sementara itu, Survey Mawas Diri (SMD) kepada masyarakat melalui penyebaran kuesioner untuk menggali akar masalah diperoleh bahwa sebagian besar pengetahuan warga mengenai permasalahan gizi masih kurang baik. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan melalui pemberian penyuluhan kepada ibu hamil dan ibu balita mengenai makanan sehat dan cara pengolahannya dengan menggunakan metode ceramah dan media power point serta X-Banner. Hasil dari penyuluhan diperoleh bahwa program pengabdian masyarakat ini mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta secara signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah diberikan penyuluhan dengan hasil uji statistik Wilcoxon Test diperoleh nilai p-value sebesar 0,001 < α (0,05) CI 95%. Ibu hamil dan ibu balita disarankan untuk terus meningkatkan pengetahuannya seputar gizi dengan aktif mencari informasi dari berbagai sumber yang terpercaya seperti melalui rutin mengikuti kegiatan posyandu, konsultasi dengan tenaga kesehatan maupun akses informasi melalui media sosial dan sumber lainnya yang tepat.
