Abstract

Persediaan minyak dunia mulai menipis sedangkan permintaan bahan bakar meningkat sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Hal tersebut memerlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan efisiensi penggunaan bahan bakar. Biodiesel yang berasal dari minyak "jelantah" merupakan salah satu alternatif bahan bakar yang ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Objek penelitian menggunakan mesin diesel Isuzu Panther 4JA1. Bahan bakar yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah campuran biodiesel 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%. Pipa bersirip yang digunakan berbentuk radial dengan variasi jarak 10mm, 20mm, 30mm. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan biodiesel pada bahan bakar solar dan pemanasan bahan bakar dengan menggunakan pipa bersirip radial di dalam upper tank radiator terhadap konsumsi bahan bakar (uji jalan sesuai SNI 7554:2010). Analisis data menggunakan diskriptif komparatif dengan memvariasikan bahan bakar pada jarak antar sirip upper tank radiator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan konsumsi bahan bakar yang telah dicampur minyak jelantah" dan pemanasan pipa bersirip radial berpengaruh terhadap konsumsi bahan bakar. Konsumsi paling hemat diperoleh pada campuran biodiesel 20% sebesar 211,7 ml/km. Pada jarak sirip 30 mm sebesar 211,7 ml/km. Penggunaan biodiesel pada bahan bakar solar dan pemanasan pipa bersirip radial ditujukkan dengan konsumsi pada campuran 20% dan jarak sirip 30 mm sebesar 211,7 ml/km hemat 152,7 ml atau 50%.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan angin dan radiasi matahari sebagai sumber energi bisa mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap penggunaan bahan bakar fosil, mengurangi biaya operasional dalam jangka panjang, dan mendukung konservasi sumber daya alam. Pengabdian ini menerapkan penggunaan sumber energi terbarukan untuk pompa air yang digunakan sebagai sumber irigasi tanaman buah dan sayuran pada pertanian organik di Balai Percontohan Pertanian (BPP) Ngasinan, Kelurahan Beji, Kecamatan Nguntoronadi, Kabupaten Wonogiri. Teknologi hibrid menggabungkan turbin tenaga angin dan sel surya untuk memberikan pasokan listrik kepada pompa yang mengangkat air dengan Total Dynamic Head (TDH) 12 meter. Sistem hibrid turbin angin dan solar sel mampu menghidupkan pompa air, sehingga pompa bisa mengalirkan air dari sumur ke tandon air. Sistem irigasi tetes dari tandon ke tanaman buah naga menyebabkan tanaman selalu lembab, sehingga mengurangi resiko kekeringan dan penyakit tanaman.

Abstract

Indonesia mempunyai potensi energi angin sangat besar mencapai sekitar 950 MW, namun pemanfaatannya belum optimal. Indonesia memiliki kecepatan angin rata-rata yang tergolong rendah, yakni 3,0 s.d. 5,0 m/s.  Kecepatan angin rendah sangat cocok dimanfaatkan untuk pembuatan turbin angin vertikal jenis Savonius. Penelitian ini menggunakan turbin angin Savonius tipe S dengan variasi penambahan fin. Fin digunakan sebagai pengarah angin agar angin lebih fokus dan cepat mengisi ruang dalam sudu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan fin terhadap cut in speed. Turbin angin Savonius ini mempunyai 2 sudu, diameter rotor 1,1 m dan tinggi rotor 1,4 m, menggunakan sistem transmisi pulley dengan rasio 1:4,2 dan menggunakan generator tipe PMG 200 W. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara pengukuran kecepatan angin dan kecepatan putaran. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan komparatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa turbin angin Savonius dengan penambahan fin dapat meningkatkan kemampuan cut in speed. Semakin banyak jumlah fin pada sudu akan meningkatkan kemampuan cut in speed. Variasi penambahan 4 fin mempercepat kemampuan cut in speed pada kecepatan 1,8 m/s. Dengan mengetahui pengaruh bentuk rotor, dimensi rotor, penambahan fin bisa didapatkan alternatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan cut in speed turbin angin Savonius.

Abstract

AbstractDevelopment of an efficient irrigation supplying precise amount of water can have benefits not only by reducing the operating costs but also by enhancing the dry land productivity. In the area with limited water resource, drip irrigation method provides advantage by minimizing water loss due to percolation, evaporation and surface flow. This article presents installation of a drip irrigation system for dragon fruit farmland in Nguntoronadi, Wonogiri, Indonesia. The water requirement of dragon fruit has been determined using the Cropwat software based in the local climate and field conditions. This data is required to determine the irrigation operation time each day. In evaluating economic feasibility of this irrigation system, a cost analysis was performed based on the site technical requirements. It is expected that the drip irrigation implemented will increase the total production of a rain fed farmland.AbstrakSalah satu upaya peningkatan produktivitas lahan kering adalah dengan pengembangan irigasi suplementer hemat air pada musim kemarau. Pada lahan dengan sumber air terbatas, sistem irigasi tetes dapat menghemat pemakaian air karena dapat meminimumkan kehilanganan air yang mungkin terjadi seperti perkolasi, evaporasi dan aliran permukaan. Artikel ini ditujukan untuk melakukan analisis implementasi sistem irigasi tetes pada lahan budidaya tanaman buah naga di wilayah Kecamatan Nguntoronadi Wonogiri yang memiliki topografi perbukitan dengan karakter tanah kering. Kebutuhan air tanaman dan laju aliran penetes digunakan sebagai dasar untuk menetapkan waktu operasional sistem irigasi. Analisis kelayakan teknis menunjukkan bahwa sistem irigasi tetes layak diterapkan di untuk budidaya tanaman buah naga di lahan kering. Analisis biaya dilakukan untuk menguji kelayakan ekonomis implementasi teknologi tersebut. Dibandingkan sistem irigasi manual, sistem irigasi tetes berdampak pada penghematan biaya yang akan berpengaruh pada keseluruhan biaya operasional budidaya tanaman buah naga.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate effect of biodiesel adding into diesel fuel and effect of fuel heating through spiral-fin pipes in the radiator upper tank towards Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine fuel consumption. This research was a descriptive quantitative with experiments methods. Sample on this research was a Mitsubishi 4 cylinder type L300 Diesel Engine. Data was getting from measuring Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine fuel consumption with the 0 %, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% of biodiesel mix variations, it was included with without heating variations; non-fin pipes heating; and finned pipes heating with inter fin variation was 2 spiral thread, 4 spiral thread, 6 spiral thread, and perpendicular-fin. Result of this research shows as: (1) It has an effect of biodiesel adding into diesel fuel on the Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine.; (2) It has an effect of fuel heating using spiral-fin pipes in the upper tank radiator on reducing Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine fuel consumption.; (3) It has an effect of biodiesel adding and fuel heating on reducing fule consumption in the Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine. The biggest reducing of fuel consumption happens on 20% biodiesel : 80% fuel diesel fuel level and fuel heating using pipes with 6 spiral thread inter-fin variation that is as much as 9.331 ml/minute every cycle. Consumption reducing is 1.320 ml/minute ar as much as 12.393% from standart consumption.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to: (1) investigate the effect of fuel heating through spiral-fin pipes in the radiator upper tank towards exhaust gases opacity of Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine. (2) investigate the effect of biodiesel adding into diesel fuel towards exhaust gases opacity of Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine. (3) investigate the effect of fuel heating through spiral-fin pipes in the radiator upper tank and biodiesel adding into diesel fuel towards exhaust gases opacity of Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine. (4) investigate the best result beetwen fuel heating through spiral-fin pipes in the radiator upper tank and biodiesel adding into diesel fuel towards exhaust gases opacity of Mitsubishi L300 Diesel Engine. This research was a quantitative with experiments methods. The result of this reserach is: (1) Fuel heating decreased opacity level of Mitsubishi L300 diesel engine. The largest decrease of opacity level occured on fuel heating using spiral fin pipes with 6 spiral threads 44,175 (%). (2) The addition of biodiesel into diesel fuel decreared opacity level of Mitsubishi L300 diesel engine. The best opacity level occured in addition the mix of 30% biodiesel and 70% diesel fuel 39,025 (%). (3) Fuel heating and addition at biodiesel in diesel fuel decreased opacity level in Mitsubishi L300 diesel engine. The largest decrease of opacity level occured at 30% biodiesel and 70% diesel fuel level and fuel heating used the spiral fin pipes with 2 spiral thread 34,4 (%).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mixer ejector and a non-twisted blade airfoil NACA 6412 toward power output generated in the horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT). The type of blade used in this experiment is a blunt, rectangular and taper. There are three artificial low wind-speed applied at 2.5 m / s, 3.5 m / s and 4.5 m/s. All the experimental data is carried out by several instruments such as anemometer, tachometer, multitester and recorded by a data logger. The results showed that the blunt wind turbine blade produces the highest power output at 0.43 W at a wind speed of 4.5 m/s with a rotor rotational speed of 183.4 RPM. While, the lowest power output produced by taper blade power output at of 0.07 W at 87.9 rpm at a wind speed of 2.5 m/s. In the experimental of additional of the mixer ejector, diffuser type produces the highest power output at 0.83 W at a wind speed of 4.5 m/s. The power output increased by 93 % compared to an original wind turbine without the addition of mixer ejector at 0.43 W.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of additioning fin on blade of  the cut in speed by a savonius wind turbine type L with variation of wind speed. This research used a  savonius wind turbine type L with a rotor diameter of 1.1 m and a rotor height of 1.4 m. The method used is the experimental method by varying the addition of the fin on blade and the wind speed. Variables taken in this research are wind speed, variation of additioning fin, and cut in speed by wind turbine. Variations of additioning fin are without fin, 1 fin, 2 fin, 3 fin, 4 fin. Testing tools using anemometer. The results of the research was found that the additioning fin affect the cut in speed with the number of fin in the blade is linearly result in increasing ot the cut in speed. The lowest cut in speed is 2 m/s achieved the addition of 4 fin on the blade.

Abstract

The research aims to investigate the condition of Basuki boiler based on the energy analysis result. The research used quantitative-descriptive method. The population of this research was daily record of Basuki boiler. The sample was daily record of Basuki boiler performance for 1 year (February 2015 to January 2016). The sample was taken using purposive sampling method. The research analyzed energetic efficiency and heat losses were included. Based the result of the research, it can be concluded that Basuki boiler condition based on its energy analysis was good, because the energetic efficiency (83,14%) was higher than the company’s target (80%). Total heat losses occured during boiler operation at 16,86% was devided into (1) heat loss in the flue gas (5,15%); (2) heat loss caused by unburned H2 gas (5,47%); (3) heat loss caused by water content in the fuel (1,50%); (4) heat loss caused by the humidity (0,58%); (5) heat loss caused by imperfect combustion (0,13%); (6) heat loss caused by radiation and indeterminable heat loss (4,03%).

Abstract

Ketergantungan pada bahan bakar fosil menjadi masalah saat ini khususnya di Indonesia karena ketersediaannya yang berkurang dan sifatnya yang tidak dapat diperbarui. Salah satu bentuk energi alternatif untuk menggantikan bahan bakar fosil adalah pirolisis biomassa. Biomassa dari limbah industri tepung aren di Desa Daleman, Kecamatan Tulung, Kabupaten Klaten memiliki potensi energi yang perlu dimanfaatkan dengan mengolah limbah menjadi RDF-4. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh rasio variasi RDF-4 campuran biomassa limbah aren dan limbah plastik polypropyplene (PP) terhadap kuantitas. Peneltian ini dilakukan dengan cara melakukan proses pirolisis terhadap RDF-4 campuran biomassa limbah aren dan limbah plastik PP dengan rasio komposisi 100%:0%, 75%:25%, 50%:50%, 25%:75%, dan 0%:100%.Hasil pengujian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh variasi rasio komposisi RDF-4 campuran biomassa limbah aren dan limbah plastik PP terhadap kuantitas. RDF-4 campuran biomassa limbah aren dan limbah plastik PP yang tidak dicampur dengan biomassa limbah aren dapat menghasilkan minyak pirolisis dengan kuantitas terbanyak dan cenderung memiliki kualitas yang baik. RDF-4 rasio campuran 100% plastik PP mampu menghasilkan minyak hasil pirolisis terbanyak sebesar 577,67 ml dengan suhu pirolisis tertinggi mencapai 375° C pada T1, 326,5° C pada T2, dan 336° C pada T3.
