Abstract

Background: Nutritional status during pregnancy is one of the critical factors to determine maternal and fetal development status, which impacts birth weight, perinatal mortality, and infant growth. The Special Region of Yogyakarta government sets a target for reducing the number of maternal and child mortality as a health priority. Monitoring pregnant women's health regularly is crucial as preventive measures and promotive approaches for mothers and fetuses. Primagravida, a web-based system, was developed to assist pregnant women in rural areas in monitoring their health, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study evaluate the usability and users' satisfaction in using Primagravida. Methods: This was quantitative descriptive research with a cross-sectional design. We conducted the study in the Kalibawang Primary Health Center (PHC) service area between June - October 2021. One hundred ten pregnant women and five midwives participated in this study. Pregnant women were registered and monitored their pregnancy through a web-based service that was integrated with maternal and child health care delivered by the PHC. Pregnant women reported their health status through the Primagravida system periodically and received feedback from the PHC’s midwives. To evaluate users’ usability, the System Usability Scale (SUS), which was developed by Brooke (1996) was utilized while the researcher developed the users’ satisfaction questionnaire to measure satisfaction. Results and Discussion: Results indicated that most of the participants were satisfied with the benefits, information relevance, content adequacy and clarity, platform availability, and up-to-the-minute curated knowledge provided by the system. The utilization of this system reduced the number of visits to PHC since health monitoring could be assessed online. Regarding system usability, respondents reported a score of 70, and the average score of respondents is 66. Conclusion: Primagravida system is well adopted by pregnant women in Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo, to monitor their health and fetal status. Feature development is required to accommodate the upcoming demands in providing holistic maternal and perinatal.

Abstract

Purpose: This study evaluated the effectiveness of 'Tunggal Dara,' an Android-based system, in optimizing dengue surveillance in Semarang, Indonesia, using the Modified Consolidated Framework of Implementation Research (mCFIR). Methods: This explanatory mixed-method study utilized an online mCFIR questionnaire to measure performance and importance scores across five domains and two sub-domains. Perspectives of 46 epidemiologists and 167 community health workers (CHWs) were included. Focus group discussions, key-informant interviews with relevant stakeholders at the local-national level, field observations, and application log analysis were also conducted. Descriptive and thematic analyses were performed to provide insights into its fidelity, penetration, and sustainability. Results: In 2022, the weekly participation rate remained stable, ranging from 76.3-97.7% for village-level CHWs and 100% for epidemiologists, indicating strong program sustainability. However, cadres and epidemiologists rated performance support from the outer setting domain as the lowest, recognizing its potential impact when executed properly. Three major themes emerged as facilitators: solid community engagement, high users’ demand and commitment, and collaboration opportunities. Four key barriers were discovered: integration and interoperability challenges, data input quality and standardization issues, variations in end-user characteristics, and limited involvement of local stakeholders. Conclusion: This study has the potential to contribute significantly to the field of dengue surveillance in Indonesia and beyond, providing valuable insights into the benefits and limitations of adopting digital innovations to combat this persistent public health threat.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of functional egg administration on changes in nutritional status, protein intake, and babies born. Methods: A study analytical with a cross-sectional design that was seen retrospectively. In-depth interviews were conducted with key informants and supporters to support research data. Results: Analysis found that consumption of functional eggs was not statistically related to nutritional status, weight, and length of the child's body but was descriptively related. Functional egg consumption is associated with increased energy and protein intake with p values 0.005 and 0.011 (p <0.05). There was an increase in body weight, MUAC, and nutritional status of chronic energy deficiency (CED) pregnant women becoming NON-CED, thereby reducing the birth of LBW and LBL. Conclusions: Functional eggs are not used as additional food; they become the mother's central protein intake. There is a need to increase commitment among organizers, implementers, and targets in implementing programs to break the stunting chain.
