Abstract

Reflective abstraction is a process of reflection on previously learned concepts and applied in new situations. The purpose of this study is to describe the reflective abstraction ability of junior high school students in solving math problems in terms of mathematical ability. In this study using qualitative research type. The data sources for this study were 4 students of class VIII, namely 2 students with high ability and 2 students with low ability. The results showed that students who have high ability, recognition level to remember and identify previous activities related to the problem at hand. At the representation level, students can translate information into mathematical models correctly. At the structural abstraction level, students can solve problems correctly, and are able to overcome difficulties in solving problems. At the structural awareness level, students are able to provide arguments about the results of the answers that have been done. While students with low ability, at the recognition level are able to remember previous activities related to the problem at hand. At the representation level, students are able to translate information into mathematical models, but students are less careful and wrong so that at the structural abstraction level students are able to solve problems, but the final results obtained are not correct. At the structural awareness level, students are able to solve and explain the steps in the problem. Based on the results of the study, teachers should guide students by providing problem exercises that can increase reflective abstraction, especially considering student responses and learning outcomes collected from high and low ability students. For this reason, further research needs to be carried out with other student data sources.

Abstract

Media is an effective tool used by teachers to support learning to convey the content of teaching materials. This study aims to determine the application of “division calculation machine” media for deaf students in division operation material. This research uses a descriptive approach with qualitative research. The data sources used are test questions, observation, interviews, and documentation. This research was conducted at SLB ABC Balung with the research subjects as many as 3 high school deaf students. The results of this study by applying the division calculation machine media used to solve division problems can help deaf students to understand the division operation material. Counting using the media “Division Counting Machine” can make it easier for students to count and make counting faster than counting manually although there is 1 student who says it is faster to use the manual than using the media but the student prefers to use the media because there is no need to count and only move the ice cream sticks. Based on this research, the media can make it easier for students to learn division and the media as a facilitator in the learning process in class.

Abstract

This study analyzes how modern slavery in Indonesia's manufacturing sector emerged through forms of exploitation disguised in formal labor relations, although the labor law framework has been comprehensively drafted. Competitive pressures in global supply chains, work flexibility through contracting and outsourcing systems, and inequality of bargaining positions between workers and companies create working conditions that are vulnerable to exploitative practices. This study aims to identify modern forms of slavery in the context of factory work, analyze the structural factors that perpetuate it, as well as assess the policy implications needed to strengthen worker protections. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design in three textile and garment manufacturing industry clusters, footwear, and electronics. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 45 informants that included workers, company management, trade unions, NGO activists, and government officials, as well as an analysis of policy and corporate documents. Thematic analysis is used to identify patterns of exploitation and structural vulnerabilities that emerge in the context of the industry. The results of the study show four main forms of modern slavery practices: economic exploitation, restriction of freedom, vulnerability and dependence, and dehumanization. These practices are reinforced by unequal labor market structures, labor flexibility, and cost pressures from global buyers. In addition, female workers and low-educated workers were found to have higher levels of vulnerability than other groups. Document analysis also shows a significant gap between corporate social responsibility rhetoric and actual working conditions. The study concludes that modern slavery in the manufacturing industry operates through complex structural mechanisms that require strengthening law enforcement, revision of the employment contract system, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. These findings underscore the urgency of labor protection reforms amid economic and technological changes.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe in depth the emergence of conceptual misconceptions and procedural errors, as well as the dynamics of students' thinking processes when solving triangle geometry problems. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design on three mathematics education students who had taken basic geometry, selected purposively to represent a variety of academic abilities and allow for intensive exploration of thought processes. The instrument is a triangular geometry problem solving task that looks for height, area, and lateral relations. Data was collected through written answer sheets, video recordings of the work, and retrospective clarification interviews, then analyzed qualitatively to trace patterns of misconceptions and procedural errors in the problem-solving flow. Data validity through source triangulation and trail auditing. The results showed that the three students displayed a neat calculation procedure, but were conceptually fragile. The height of a triangle is not interpreted as a perpendicular relation, the use of the theorem is carried out without prerequisites, and the relations between the lateral segments are assumed intuitively. Weak monitoring and evaluation during the problem-solving process hinders the formation of a coherent conceptual framework. These findings confirm the need for geometry learning that emphasizes the status of mathematical objects, adherence to the prerequisites of concepts and theorems, and the development of reflective monitoring habits in problem solving.
