Abstract

Penyimpanan sangatlah penting dilakukan untuk menghasilkan benih padi gogo yang bermutu dan berkualitas yang akan digunakan sebagai bahan tanam selanjutnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mendapatkan teknik produksi benih padi gogo yang bermutu dan berkualitas dengan perkecambahan terbaik. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di desa Kalukubula dan uji perkecambahan dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi Benih. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober 2019 sampai Februari 2020. Penelitian ini disusun menggunakan racangan acak kelompok (RAK) pola faktorial dua faktor, faktor pertama terdiri atas dua lokasi penyimpanan yaitu: P1= Dalam Ruangan, P2= Luar Ruangan, Sedangkan faktor kedua terdiri atas tiga waktu penyimpanan yaitu: W1=satu bulan dan W2= dua bulan, dan W3= tiga bulan, yang diulang sebanyak enam kali sehingga terdapat 36 unit percobaan dimana setiap unit percobaan terdapat 50 benih dan total benih yang digunakan ialah sebanyak 1.800 benih. Analisis data menggunakan uji Fisher dan dilanjutkan dengan menggunakan uji BNJ pada taraf 1%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hasil panen yang disimpan dalam ruangan selama 3 tiga bulan menghasilkan daya berkecambah (93,00%), waktu berkecambah (2,08 hari), potensi tumbuh maksimum (99,00%) dan persentase benih berjamur (1,33%).

Abstract

The main obstacle frequently encountered by farmers of red onions in farming business is a lack of high quality seedling sources causing many farmers had to grow on low quality seeds. Therefore, the production resulted was very low and the seeds were very small. Technology of seed production and storage are expected to supply quality seeds when required in enormous amount. The research aims at determining the effect of varieties and length of storage time on viability and vigor of onion seeds. The research employed a randomized block design with two factorial experiment. The first factor was red onion variety consisting of Lembah Palu variety and Palasa variety.  The second factor was the length of storage time consisting of three levels: 20 days, 40 days and 60 days. Water content and seed loss of the red onions stored depended on the varieties and the length of storage time. The water content of the Lembah  Palu and Palasa varieties stored for 60 days was 74-76 %,  yet the weight loss of the Lembah  Palu variety was about >50% larger than that of the Palasa variety which was only about >35%. Germinating capacity of both varieties after 60 days storage was better (> 85 %). Vigor of the Palasa seeds were higher than that of the Lembah Palu seeds.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed at obtaining high vigor of Kweni mango seeds. It was conducted in April to July 2017, at the Laboratory of Seed Technology and Academic Gardens of the Agriculture Faculty of Tadulako University, Palu.  It was carried out in two stages: the viability testing using a completely randomized design (RAL) in which the seeds were taken from different sources i.e. Ipi 1, Ipi 14 and Bente 8; and the vigor testing using a randomized block design (RAK) in which the seeds were grouped based on the height of the parent tree sources. At each stage of the experiment there were three treatments with six replicates.  The results of this study indicated that the seeds coming from the Ipi 1 source grew well under the viability and vigor tests, and it had the highest vigor.  Keyword : Mango, source of seed, viability, vigor.

Abstract

Data in 2012 explained that Indonesia had dry land about 148 million ha (78%) and wetland by 40.20 million ha (22%) out of 188.20 million ha of the total land area. The variety of rice which can grow and produce well on marginal land such as gogo rice is very indispensable. This research aimed to find the gogo rice cultivars that can germinate normally in particular osmotic pressure and the tolerance limit on the drought by using PEG 6000 solution. The research was prepared with two-factor factorial design by using Completely Randomized Design. The first factor consisted of three gogo rice cultivars, namely 1. siang, 2. Pulut ko, and 3. roda, while the second factor consisted of four treatments, namely 1. water as control of 2. -1 bar, 3. -2 bar, and 4. -3 bar.Thus, there were 12 combinations of treatment in which each treatment was repeated four times. In the experiment Rolled Paper placed in plastic test method was used in which there were 50 items in each experiment unit.The variable observed was potential for growth, percentage of germination, and germination rate. The research findings reveal that the three cultivars were able to germinate normally only up to -1 bar osmotic pressure, while the pulut cultivar had higher germination capacity compared with siang and roda cultivars up to -3 bar PEG 6000 osmotic pressure. Siang cultivar and -1 bar osmotic pressure gave potential for growth, germination capacity, and germination rate.

Abstract

Paddy is one of the important cereal crops as food a main  food for a third of the world's population, including Asia. Production of paddy rice plants can be improved through plant genetic improvement. The ebjective of this study was examine the genetic diversity, heritability, and correlation between the characteristics of several local upland rice cultivars. This study was carried out in Tamarenja Village, Sindue District, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. It was began in May to October 2018. A Randomized Block Design with eight cultivars as a genotypic treatment and reapeted three times was used in this study. There were 24 trial plots in total. Variables observed included plant height, number of leaves, length of leaves, number of tillers, number of productive tillers, age of panicle exit, panicle length, harvest age, number of seeds per panicle, seed length, seed diameter, weight of 100 seeds, and total yield. The results showed that the genetic influences were more dominant than the environment on all observed variables except the weight of 100 seeds and seed diameter. The number of seeds per panicle, the number of tillers and the number of productive tillers were traits that have a high value on heritability and genetic progress. Panicle length, seed diameter and weight of 100 seeds were characteristics that have a high genetic correlation coefficient on upland rice yields. The weight of 100 seeds has a direct influence and high genetic correlation to the results so that it can be used as a direct selection criterion to increase upland rice yields.

Abstract

Geography and climate of Palu and Sigi Regency has been markedly suitable for dragon fruit supported by the available land in the areas.  Unfortunately, development of the commodity has been restricted by less available qualified seedlings and unskill farmers.  Dragon fruit seedling production can be achieved through cuttings and tissue culture acclimatized planlets.  This program aimed to transfer the technology on cultivation, seedling production through cuttings and tissue culture planlets of dragon fruit, which is turn can increase the income of the farmers.  The method used to solve the problems justified were:  extension, training and accompaniment on cultivation, seedling production through cuttings and tissue culture planlets acclimatized of dragon fruit.  The extension, training and accompaniment were conducted both in class and on farm.  The results of this program:  The farmers or the program partners understand and become skillful in:  dragon fruit cultivation; producing dragon fruit seedlings through cutting and tissue culture planlets acclimatized.  The farmers got more than 250 qualified seedlings from tissue culture propagation and 200 seedlings obtained from cuttings grown in a nursery, and the farmers have willingness to be nursery man.

Abstract

The research aims were to determine the cocoa seed vigor of various storage periods and seed invigorant viewed from aspect of seed physiology quality. This research was a two factorial experiment in a completely randomized design. The first factor was the time length of storage consisted of 5 levels: i) Control, ii) 2 week, iii) 4 weeks, iv) 6 weeks, and v) 8 weeks. The second factor was seed invigoration using ZPT consisted of 4 types: i) without ZPT, ii). 0.01 mmol GA3, iii) 0.01 mmol GA3 + 0.1 mmol NAA, and iv) coconut milk. The data obtained was analyzed using variant analysis; the data with coefficient of variation more than 20 % was transformed to x + 0.5 whereas treatment with significant influence was advanced with HSD test with level of 0.05. The research findings showed that a longer period of seed storage led to the reduction of seed vigor. Invigoration with GA3 + NAA also contributed to a better seed vigor though it was not significantly different from GA3 invigoration and coconut milk. All seed invigoration treatment (GA3 + NAA and coconut milk) could slow seed deterioration up to 6 week storage.

Abstract

The  research  aimed  at  inventing  glutinous  corn  cultivar  through  collecting,  characterizing  and identifying  various  characters  of  clustering  glutinous  corn  cultivars  found  in  the  villages  of Tombuo, Padang, Sansarino  and Uentanaga, Ampana Kota  sub district of Tojo Una-Una district. The  research  was  conducted  between  January  and March  2010.  The  research  applied  a  Survey Method and Observations in which the research site was decided based on the information gathered from Department of Agriculture, Plantation, Animal Husbandry and Animal Health of Tojo Una-Una district. Plant, cob and seed morphological characters were observed in order to determine the morphological  diversity  among  the  cultivars  tested.    Dendogram  analysis  was  applied  for identifying the similarities among the tested corn cultivars.  The research findings showed that there are  three  different  cultivar  groups  of  glutinous  corns  with  regard  to  their  morphological characteristics in Kecamatan Ampana Kota. Key Words: Cluster, cultivar, dendrogram, glutinous Corn, morphology.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi morfologi dan anatomi jeruk lokal di Desa Hangira dan Desa Baleura Kecamatan Lore Tengah Kabupaten Poso pada bulan, September sampai November 2015. Identifikasi anatomi dilakukan di Laboratorium Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Tadulako. Pengumpulan materi menggunakan metode eksplorasi dengan cara survei ke lokasi tempat penelitian, penentuan lokasi dipilih secara purposive. Penetapan lokasi ini didasarkan informasi dari dinas dan hasil survei yang telah dilakukan. Karakter morfologi yang diamati meliputi bentuk dan warna batang, bentuk percabangan, tajuk, diameter tajuk, permukaan batang, bentuk tepi dan ujung daun, simetri daun, warna flush, permukaan atas dan bawah daun, daging daun, ukuran daun, warna tangkai daun, bentuk tangkai, panjang tangkai. Karakter anatomi daun yang diamati meliputi jumlah stomata, jumlah epidermis, ukuran stomata, ukuran epidermis, kerapatan dan indeks stomata. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan analisis kluster program software SYSTAT 8.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakter morfologi dan anatomi tanaman jeruk dari Desa Hangira diperoleh dua kelompok aksesi tanaman jeruk yaitu HN3 dan HN10 dan dari Desa Baleura hanya ada satu kelompok aksesi yaitu BL7. Hasil indeks stomata pada kedua desa yang paling rendah terdapat pada aksesi BL4 dan indeks stomata tertinggi terdapat pada aksesi BL8, kerapatan stomata tertinggi terdapat pada aksesi HN5 dan yang paling rendah terdapat pada aksesi HN9.

Abstract

Mangga (Mangifera indica), adalah buah yang berasal dari India dan memiliki banyak varietas. Buah mangga umumnya dipasarkan dalam bentuk segar, baik untuk tujuan domestik maupun ekspor. Mangga merupakan komoditi ke dua setelah manggis yang masuk pasar global, selain dapat dikonsumsi segar mangga juga bisa diolah menjadi acar, pulp, dan selai. Melihat potensi mangga maka perlu dilakukan pengkajian mangga lokal yang bermutu, salah satunya melakukan eksplorasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji aksesi mangga dodor yang ada di Lembah Palu melalui karakterisasi morfologi dan anatomi di Desa Toaya dan Desa Lero Kabupaten Donggala. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari sampai Maret 2016. Metode Penelitian menggunakan metode eksplorasi pada aksesi dengan mengobservasi karakter morfologi tanaman dilanjutkan dengan analisis keragaman karakter menggunakan analisis cluster dengan memanfaatjan software systat 0.8. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa aksesi yang beragam pada masing-masing desa di Kecamatan Sindue berdasarkan karakteristik morfologi dan anatomi. Aksesi yang berbeda di Desa Toaya pada jarak 0.6 diperoleh TF11, TF9, TF14. Desa Lero terdapat aksesi yang berbeda yaitu LR6, LR14, dan LR13 dan di Kecamatan Sindue aksesi TF9, LR6, dan LR15.
