Abstract

Children's education consciously guides and guides the condition of the soul, especially so that it can cultivate good morals and habits from the beginning of its growth and development, until it reaches puberty, so that a personality is formed in accordance with educational goals. In order to study the concept of children's education, it is necessary to study the thoughts of previous scholars, because it is undeniable that there have been many contributions made by previous scholars, especially in the world of education. Educational figures who are used as research objects are scholars of interpretation, hadith, ushuluddin, and Arabic, but not much research has been done on the concept of education. The concept of the figure's education is outlined in his books, but the world of education does not recognize him as an educational figure. Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyyah, with his characteristics and personality as a knowledgeable person, we will undoubtedly find some hints, views and instructions about education, in addition to his sincerity in discussing various other fields of knowledge. We certainly find advice about the concept of education in the books written by these figures. Therefore it is very interesting if it is discussed more deeply regarding the concept of children's education according to Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyyah. The type of research used in collecting data is library research, namely a series of activities related to library data collection methods, reading and recording and processing research materials. There are three important aspects in the concept of children's education according to Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah, namely the goals of children's education, children's education materials, and educational methods. In terms of children's education goals, Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah explained that the main goal of Islamic education is to grow and develop all of the child's potential, maintain nature, and protect it from deviations and realize the meaning of worship to Allah. In the aspect of children's education material, Ibnu Qayyim revealed that there are seven children's education materials namely Faith Education, Mental Education, Intellect Education, Moral Education, Social Education, Physical Education and Sex Education. In terms of educational methods, Ibn Qayyim explained several methods that can be used in children's education including the habituation method, the exemplary method, the advice method, and the punishment method.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of moral education proposed by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah and to analyze its relevance to the objectives of Indonesia’s National Education system. The research is motivated by the moral decline among students in the modern era, which tends to prioritize scientific and technological advancement while neglecting moral and spiritual values. This study employs a library research approach, utilizing primary and secondary sources related to Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah’s works. Data were analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods and content analysis. The findings reveal that Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah’s concept of moral education centers on the purification of the heart as the foundation of character development. Moral education emphasizes tazkiyat al-nafs through the cultivation of universal values such as honesty, trustworthiness, inner peace, and social responsibility, integrated within theological, individual, and social dimensions. These findings indicate that Ibn Qayyim’s moral education framework plays a crucial role in shaping moral conduct in daily life. The study implies that Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah’s concept of moral education is highly relevant and aligned with the goals of Indonesia’s National Education, particularly through a deep learning approach that focuses on developing learners who are faithful, pious, morally upright, and possess strong personal character.

Abstract

Background: Breeding grounds for radicalism and extreme liberalism on Indonesian university campuses continue to endanger religious education cohesion, while Islamic higher education institutions mired in the fragmentation of different-flavored ideologies without moderation policies worsen polarization among students. This circumstance emphasizes the absolute requirement for an integrated wasathiyyah framework in PAI curriculum. Objective: The objective of this study is to analyze the conception of Abdurrahman Al-Sudais about wasathiyyah as stated in Bulugh al-Amal fi Tahqiq al-Wasatthiyah wa al-Itidal and its implementation in PAI curriculum design in Indonesian Islamic higher education institutions. Method: This is a qualitative study using library research and a descriptive-interpretive (hermeneutical) approach. The data were collected through content analysis of the dominant text and participant observation via case studies on STID Mohammad Natsir Bekasi and STAI Al-Hidayah Bogor, and then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Results: It turns out that Al-Sudais's wasathiyyah is based on tawassuth (42%), i'tidal (35%), and tasamuh (23%), as grounded in QS. Al-Baqarah: 143. All of these values are internalized in a number of courses that exist in PAI, namely through Islamic Religious Moderation Houses (Rumah Moderasi Beragama) and various community service programs (KKN), which actively reduce intolerance and foster inclusive religious attitudes. Conclusions: Al-Sudais's framework offers a researchable, empirically based model of PAI development that strengthens religious moderation, encourages inter-religious harmony, and prepares a balanced generation to face Indonesia's pluralistic community.
