Abstract

Dialogue is a method of learning that involves students to be active, both cognitive, affective, and psychomotoric. But in practice dialogue sometimes leads to conflicting attitudes and provoking emotions. This study is aimed to explore dialogue concept of Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi in his book Adab Hiwar fi al-Islam and the implementation of the dialogue concept into active learning at school. The finding showed that there are eleven rules of dialogue concept which according to Muhammad Sayyid Tantawi, namely: (1) Honesty, (2) Focus on the themes discussed, (3) Presenting an accurate proposition and sound logic (4) Clarify the location of differences in a concrete and correct manner according to the discussion (5) Ethics of politeness, avoiding actions that are not appropriate to do, (6) Lead to the public interest, (7) Prioritize the opinions of expert experts, (8) Do not generalize the law, (9) Reviewing the principles of benefits and their disadvantages, (10) Upgrading the understanding and accuracy of the law agreed upon by the experts (11) Being open and candid, by promoting the truth.

Abstract

توصل الباحث من هذه الدراسة إلى استنتاج وهو أن مفهوم التربية القيادية لطارق السويدان تربوي، وتدريبي، وواقعي، وأسوتي، وإسلامي، بمعنى أن تشكيل قائد هو من خلال التعليم والتدريب ووفق الواقع، وليكون نموذجا، وبالمعايير الإسلامية، وأن مفهوم التربية القيادية لطارق السويدان هو تعزيز نظرية وارن بلانك باسم "108 مهارات قيادية طبيعية" وهي النظرية التي أكدت على أنه لا يوجد شخص ولد قائدا في شكل طبيعي، لأن القيادة هي مجموعة من الخصائص والمهارات التي يمكن تعلُّمها، وأن تطبيق مفهوم التربية القيادية لطارق السويدان في إندونيسيا هو باسم "برنامج تعليم وتدريب الشباب القيادة الإسلامية 30 ساعة"، والتطبيقات للتربية القيادية الإسلامية وفق منظور طارق السويدان هي برنامج التعليم والتدريب القيادي الذي يُقدَّم للشباب الذين هم من أشد الموارد البشرية خصبة، خطوة خطوة، في مؤسسة أو دورة تدريبية أنشئت خاصة بهذا الغرض، وذلك باستخدام مختلف أساليب التعليم والتدريب المتنوعة، وأن مثل هذا التعليم حدث ولا يزال يحدث في واقع المجتمع الإندونيسي مما يؤكد على أهمية دور الكيايات (الشيوخ) في البسانترينات (المعاهد الإسلامية) في إعداد كوادر العلماء الذين هم قادة للمستقبل. The conclusion of this research is that the concept of leadership education of Thariq as-Suwaidan is the concept of leadership education that having the characteristic of tarbawi, tadribi, waqi‘iy, uswati and Islami. In the sense of the formation of a leader must be through education, training, reality, model, and Islamic. Thariq as-Suwaidan’s Leadership Concept is to strengthen Warren Blank’s theory by the name of “108 Skills of Natural Born Leaders”, the theory that there is no natural leader. Leadership is a collection of traits and skills that can be learned. Application of Thariq as-Suwaidan Leadership Education Concept in Indonesia is under the name of “Youth Leadership Education Training Program 30 Hours”. The application of Islamic leadership education of Thariq as-Suwaidan is a leadership and leadership training program provided to the youngest of the most fertile human resources, step by step, in a training institute or course established specifically for this purpose, using various varied learning methods. The kind of education has really happened and will constantly happen in the reality of Indonesian society. The condition strictly shows the importance of the roles of Islamic scholars (ulama) in Islamic schools or Islamic institutions to perform and to shape their next generation to become the future leaders.

Abstract

One of the important subjects that are taught at Sekolah Alam Bogor Elementary School is entrepreneurship. This subject is given to students from 1st grade to 6th grade. This particular lesson is considered important to build a sense of independence from an early age. The theory and practice of this lesson are taught to the students. Although generally, the curriculum requires more practice than theory. The researcher tried to record and capture the activities during the learning process on the entrepreneurship subject at Sekolah Alam Bogor Elementary School, to observe, to interview the involved parties, and to collect data, either directly from the source or indirectly. Then, the collected data was analyzed with a literature review referring to Rasulullah’s life, especially when he was actively involved in the business world before his prophetic era began. Evidently by referring to the trustworthy old books and the analysis of the latest scholars. Based on the research, it is concluded that the curriculum of entrepreneurship applied at Sekolah Alam Bogor Elementary School is very effective to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit in the students. Also, the spirit that is cultivated is very much in line with the entrepreneurship spirit of Rasulullah. Even though it still needs some additions and improvements.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan definisi budaya ilmu berdasarkan literatur dalam Islam. Penelitian  ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian kualitatif yang melibatkan proses pengumpulan data dan analisis data dari sumber-sumber yang menyediakan informasi faktual dan pendapat pakar yang berkaitan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa budaya ilmu dalam literatur Islam bukan merupakan suatu hal yang baru, karena secara makna banyak terkandung di dalam al-Qur’an, al-Hadist dan kehidupan para ulama. Adapun definisi budaya ilmu dari hasil penelitian ini adalah suatu kerangka kehidupan yang menyatukan semua elemen masyarakat ke dalam kesatuan kolektif persamaan, yang di dalamnya terkandung kecerdasan, ilmu, pengetahuan, seni, kebiasaan, adat istiadat, tradisi, rasa, emosi dan sifat bawaan serta nilai-nilai sosial, yang mempengaruhi perilaku individu maupun masyarakat yang ada di dalamnya. Semua itu untuk mencerahkan pikiran, memperbaiki rasa, dan menumbuhkan kemampuan kritik serta penilaian di dalam individu maupun masyarakat yang mengakibatkan terciptanya sebuah peradaban yang memiliki karakter khusus yang terbentuk dari kerangka kehidupan tersebut, sehingga tercipta sebuah lingkungan yang di dalamnya terdapat produk material dan nonmaterial yang diwariskan dari generasi ke generasi, yang ke semuanya itu dilakukan, dibimbing, dan difilter berdasarkan ilmu. Pada akhirnya diharapkan dengan penjabaran makna budaya ilmu dalam literatur Islam ini dapat memberikan pencerahan untuk  perbaikan dan pengembangan definisi budaya ilmu agar dapat menjadi sebuah konsep yang sangat penting yang tidak boleh hilang dari kehidupan bermasyarakat, berbangsa, dan bernegara yang berdasarkan nilai-nilai Islam.

Abstract

Diskriminasi pendidikan yang dilakukan Pemerintah Hindia Belanda dalam bidangpendidikan mendorong lahirnya Madrasah Mambaul Ulum Surakarta tahun 1905. Selain itu, munculnya sekolah zending (Kristen) di berbagai daerah, gencarnya pendirian sekolah Cina dengan kurikulum, buku-buku teks, guru, dan budaya dari Cina serta lahirnya Ordonansi Guru yang mengharuskan setiap guru agama mendapatkan ijin Pemerintah Hindia Belanda. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui model pembaharuan Madrasah Mambaul Ulum. Termasuk penelitian historis dengan pendekatan sosial melalui studi kepustakaan. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa Madrasah Mambaul Ulum menerapkan sistem pendidikan klasikal bercorak modern. Mambaul Ulum Surakarta menjadi salah satu model madrasah yang memodernisir sistem pendidikan yang ada. Tidak menolak sistem pendidikan Belanda yang dianggap modern, tetapi juga tidak menerima total. Madrasah Mambaul Ulum memilih jalan tengah dengan memodifikasi sistem pendidikan Belanda dan sistem pendidikan tradisional. Dengan kata lain, Madrasah Mambaul Ulum adaptif terhadap perubahan dengan tidak meninggalkan ciri khas sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam

Abstract

Children's education consciously guides and guides the condition of the soul, especially so that it can cultivate good morals and habits from the beginning of its growth and development, until it reaches puberty, so that a personality is formed in accordance with educational goals. In order to study the concept of children's education, it is necessary to study the thoughts of previous scholars, because it is undeniable that there have been many contributions made by previous scholars, especially in the world of education. Educational figures who are used as research objects are scholars of interpretation, hadith, ushuluddin, and Arabic, but not much research has been done on the concept of education. The concept of the figure's education is outlined in his books, but the world of education does not recognize him as an educational figure. Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyyah, with his characteristics and personality as a knowledgeable person, we will undoubtedly find some hints, views and instructions about education, in addition to his sincerity in discussing various other fields of knowledge. We certainly find advice about the concept of education in the books written by these figures. Therefore it is very interesting if it is discussed more deeply regarding the concept of children's education according to Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyyah. The type of research used in collecting data is library research, namely a series of activities related to library data collection methods, reading and recording and processing research materials. There are three important aspects in the concept of children's education according to Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah, namely the goals of children's education, children's education materials, and educational methods. In terms of children's education goals, Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah explained that the main goal of Islamic education is to grow and develop all of the child's potential, maintain nature, and protect it from deviations and realize the meaning of worship to Allah. In the aspect of children's education material, Ibnu Qayyim revealed that there are seven children's education materials namely Faith Education, Mental Education, Intellect Education, Moral Education, Social Education, Physical Education and Sex Education. In terms of educational methods, Ibn Qayyim explained several methods that can be used in children's education including the habituation method, the exemplary method, the advice method, and the punishment method.

Abstract

At the moment, Indonesian government campaigns for education based on character rapidly. Various theories have been proposed to make this mission success. Unfortunately, the government tends to use the secular’s theories which so far from religious values, whereas Indonesia is the biggest nation with Muslims population in the world. Righteously, the education which based on character should be taken from this Religion’s precepts. Actually, this idea has been engaged by the founding father of this country. In the principle’s foundation of this country (Pancasila), the founding father formulate some principle which using Islamic terms. As an example, in second principle, we can find word ‘Adil’ and ‘Adab’ which both of these words is Islamic term that considered as Islamic basic vocabulary and closely related with Islam’s precepts. Because of this importance, the founding father used this words and Islamic terms inside the principle’s foundation of this country (Pancasila). These indicates how strong the influences of Islamic worldview in prefatory’s constitution of this country (Pembukaan UUD 1945). Therefore, we have to understanding these Islamic terms (adab and adil) with Islamic worldview. Because of the importance of this ‘Adab’ term, then this is the time when the government use these term in implementation of education based on character in this country.

Abstract

Bernard Lewis was known as a good writer and an orientalist who concentrated on Islamic and Jewish history. Exactly, he was the one who introduced the discourse of ‘Clash of Civilizations’ for the first time through his article “The Roots of Muslim Rage” in Atlantic Monthly journal released on September, 1990. It was written as a preparation to decide a “new enemy” of the West after the Cold War. Lewis called Western Civilization by “Christian Civilization”, which mean that its root was Christian religion. According to Lewis, the conflict between Islam and the West (Christian) had been starting since hundred years ago and it is increasing. He noted, since the rise of Islam, there was physical contact between Islam and Christian happened when the Prophet Mohammed Saw began his mission in the early 7th century. During that era, the whole region of Mediterranean which was a part of Christendom had switched to be Islamic zone. Lewis was so close to the White House authority and it caused his views containing political thought which guided the United States of America to decide their foreign policy. Therefore, he lost his objectivity as a scientist to reveal some facts along relationship between Islam and the West. It is obviously explained in his book “The Crisis of Islam: Holy War and Unholy Terror”. The book is such an apology of the West for their foreign policy implementation, especially toward Islamic world. This article reveals how Lewis defended political policy of Western countries, especially USA.

Abstract

Abstrak Dalam sejarah pendidikan Islam, pondok pesantren merupakan lembaga pendidikan yang paling perhatian terhadap kemandirian, termasuk di antaranya adalah kemandirian ekonomi. Kuatnya arus modernisasi menjadikan pendidikan pondok pesantren kehilangan orisinalitasnya sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam yang mengajarkan kemandirian. Pondok pesantren Mukmin Mandiri Sidoarjo didirikan dalam rangka mengembalikan orisinalitas tersebut, yaitu sebagai lembaga pendidikan yang mandiri dan memandirikan segenap warga pondok dan masyarakat sekitar pondok. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui konsep pendidikan kemandirian ekonomi di pondok pesantren Mukmin Mandiri Sidoarjo, demikian juga dengan implementasinya. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Walaupun penelitian ini memakai pendekatan studi kasus, dalam penerapannya peneliti juga memakai studi pustaka. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menggabungkan antara penelitian pustaka (library research) dan penelitian lapangan (field research). Konsep pendidikan kemandirian ekonomi di pondok pesantren Mukmin Mandiri Sidoarjo, merupakan konsep pendidikan yang memadukan antara pendidikan entrepreneurship dengan pendidikan keagamaan (diniyyah). Dalam prakteknya, pendidikan entrepreneurship mendapat porsi waktu yang lebih banyak dari pendidikan keagamaan, dengan harapan output santri segera mampu mandiri dalam dunia usaha. Abstract

Pendidikan Ulama Tarjih Muhammadiyah (PUTM) merupakan model kaderisasi ulama di Muhammadiyah. Keberadaannya dianggap dan diharapkan dapat menjawab problem kelangkaan ulama di Muhammadiyah. Sebagai sebuah lembaga pendidikan, PUTM dihadapkan kepada beberapa problematika formalitas kelembagaan yang harus segera ditemukan solusi dan jalan keluarnya. Studi ini mencoba melakukan analisa-analisa atas problem yang ada sekaligus merumuskan strategi pengembangan berdasarkan analasis SWOT. Melalui strategi-strategi tersebut, PUTM Yogyakarta dapat melakukan pembenahan dan pengembangan demi kemampuan menjawab tantangan zaman dan organisasi Muhammadiyah.
