Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate a performance-based assessment instrument for measuring 21st-century skills in Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) learning through audiovisual-assisted Problem-Based Learning. The instrument comprises 16 essay items designed to assess four dimensions of the 4C framework—critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration—with four items allocated to each dimension. Responses were scored using a 1–4 analytic rubric. An instrument development approach was employed, with construct validation conducted through a pilot test involving 30 sixth-grade students from SDN Brebes 10. Data were analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results indicate that all items are valid, with standardized factor loadings ranging from 0.897 to 0.967 (CR > 22.62; p < 0.001). The measurement model demonstrates excellent goodness-of-fit indices (χ² = 93.997; df = 98; p = 0.596; CFI = 1.000; TLI = 1.007; RMSEA = 0.000; SRMR = 0.023). All items exhibit very strong factor loadings (λ ≥ 0.80) and coefficients of determination (R²) ranging from 0.805 to 0.935. In addition, inter-factor correlations (–0.686 to 0.193) confirm adequate discriminant validity. Overall, these findings indicate that the developed instrument satisfies construct validity requirements and demonstrates excellent psychometric quality for assessing elementary students’ 21st-century skills in audiovisual-assisted IPAS learning.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with a continually rising prevalence, particularly within the elderly population. Lifestyle factors play a critical role in influencing the risk of developing hypertension. This study aimed to determine the relationship between lifestyle and the incidence of hypertension among the elderly at Merdeka Health Center in 2025. Methods: This study employed a quantitative design with a descriptive correlational method and a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all 125 elderly individuals who visited the Merdeka Health Center between January and December 2024. A sample of 55 respondents was selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and blood pressure measurements and were subsequently analyzed using the Spearman's rho correlation test with a significance level of α=0.05. Results: The findings indicated a significant relationship between physical activity (p=0.046;r=−0.270), dietary patterns (p=0.029;r=0.295), rest/sleep habits (p=0.007;r=0.361), pesticide exposure (p=0.009;r=−0.351), and family history of hypertension (p=0.000;r=0.512) with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. However, no significant relationship was found between smoking history and the incidence of hypertension (p=0.057;r=−0.258). Conclusion: Most of the investigated lifestyle components—specifically physical activity, dietary patterns, and rest habits—along with pesticide exposure and family history, have a significant association with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. It is therefore recommended that elderly individuals adopt a healthy lifestyle for the prevention and control of hypertension.

Abstract

Abstract

The Pancasila Laboratory is a strategic instrument in strengthening Pancasila values education through contextual, reflective, and experience-based learning for young citizens. Although its urgency is recognized, to date, there has been no standardization of conceptual, operational, or evaluative standards, even though its development is based on ideology. Standardization is needed not to impose uniform practices, but to provide a flexible, context-specific minimum quality framework that guarantees the function, process, and achievement of values. This study uses a qualitative, multi-case study design and a conceptual analysis of the Character Padepokan at UNNES, the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Laboratory at SMK Negeri 1 Sambi, and the Pancasila Laboratory School by YPLP. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that there is no uniform national model, but laboratory practices have developed organically through an approach of experience, reflection, collective participation, and the formation of values through habit. The findings emphasize the need for a flexible and adaptive standardization framework to ensure consistency in quality and measurable outcomes. The integrated conceptual model offered has the potential to strengthen character education, civic engagement, and the sustainability of Pancasila ideology within the national education system.

Abstract

Learning independence is a crucial outcome in modern education, enabling students to take responsibility and initiative in their learning processes. This study examines the relationship between emoji-based self-assessment, teacher role, student perception, and learning independence among elementary school students. Using a quantitative correlational design, data were collected through questionnaires from 160 students familiar with digital learning activities. The instruments measured the four constructs using Likert scales, with reliability confirmed through acceptable Cronbach’s alpha values. The results show that emoji-based self-assessment, teacher role, and student perception are positively and significantly related to learning independence. Emoji-based assessment showed the strongest association, supporting students’ emotional awareness and self-reflection. Teacher guidance and supportive perception of the learning environment further contributed to autonomous learning behaviors. Collectively, these three factors explained 48% of the variance in learning independence. The findings imply that integrating simple, affective digital tools with supportive teaching practices can effectively foster student autonomy. Educators are encouraged to adopt emoji-based reflection methods, strengthen facilitative teacher roles, and cultivate positive classroom climates to promote independent learning, especially in technology-enhanced educational settings.
