Abstract

Side-synchronizing between English reading teaching and learning and latest technology is highly encouraged to happen nowadays in order to get better learning achievement. The main purpose of this study was to find out the effect of Kahoot! on reading comprehension. This study involved 244 students of one of the established private universities in East Kalimantan. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics in the form of frequency, mean, standard deviation and t – test. The results showed that the students' reading comprehension taught using Kahoot! was higher than that of those without Kahoot!. Furthermore, their cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning attitudes showed positive and significant effects as well. Based on the findings, it implies that online media like Kahoot! is strongly recommended to be used in reading teaching and learning process. It is expected that the finding would enrich and enlighten the relevant literature of the area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mapping of the quality of Islamic higher education based on the similarity of student service satisfaction. This study used ex-post-facto research with an explorative. It employed a descriptive design. The subjects consisted of students from various study programs at the FETT, the SII Ambon. Data were collected through student satisfaction questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using Multidimensional Scaling. The results showed similarities in mapping the quality of Islamic higher education based on student service satisfaction from 6 study programs. It calculated the closest Euclidean distance between objects located in Biology Education and Islamic Education study programs or vice versa, where the proximity is 0.233. It indicates that the quality of education in student service satisfaction between Biology Education and Islamic Education study programs has the highest similarity compared to other study programs. The output of the MDS analysis obtained a stress value of 0.03671 (3.67%) and R2 of 0.99606. It represents an acceptable spatial map (R2 ≥ 0.6).

Abstract

This study explores the correlation between technology utilization and language acquisition while analyzing the impact of moderating variables on this relation. Our meta-analysis approach analyzes data from 43 extracts out of 19 primary studies published between 2012 and 2021. Our data analysis employs a random-effect model utilizing a significance level of α = 0.05. Additionally, the authors examine four moderating variables: level of education, location of research, proficiency in language, and year of publication. Technology-based language acquisition outperforms traditional methods, indicating a significant and moderate impact on the learning process. This study enhances comprehension of the efficacy of technology in language acquisition by identifying various factors, such as the geographical location of research, methods of assessing language proficiency, and technology type employed. However, there is insufficient evidence to support the notion that educational level or sample size significantly impact technology-based language acquisition. This meta-analysis highlights the importance of considering nuanced factors when integrating technology into language learning. The findings emphasize the possibility of technology to transform methods of acquiring language and urge additional investigation into customized strategies that optimize its advantages.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan metakognisi mahasiswa ditinjau berdasarkan gaya kognitif serialist-holist pada setiap komponen metakognisi yaitu metacognitive awareness, metacog-nitive evaluation dan metacognitive regulation. Subjek penelitian ini adalah enam mahasiswa pada program sarjana Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika UIN Antasari Banjarmasin angkatan 2020 dengan gaya kognitif holistik-serialist serta sedang menempuh mata kuliah struktur aljabar serta dipilih sesuai dengan kriteria IPK. Metode Penelitian menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan Metacognitive Awareness mahasiswa holist cukup baik dilihat dari memahami tentang proses berpikir mereka sendiri, sadar strategi kognitif yang efektif, memantau terhadap pemahaman dan kesulitan dalam memecahkan masalah. Kemampuan Metacognitive Regulation mahasiswa holist mampu mengendalikan kognitifnya secara aktif, sedangkan pada serialist menunjukkan lebih banyak yang memiliki kemampuan ini secara aktif mengendalikan proses kognitifnya serta fokusnya dalam suatu permasalahan. Sedangkan pada mahasiswa serialist lebih banyak mahasiswa yang memiliki kemampuan kritis mengevaluasi dan merefleksikan pemahaman dan kinerja kognitif mereka serta menilai keefektifan strategi yang digunakan dalam mengidentifikasi masalah.   Exploration of student metacognition: A comparison of holist-serialist cognitive style   Abstract: This research aims to analyze the metacognitive abilities of students based on the serialist-holist cognitive style in each component of metacognition, namely metacognitive awareness, metacognitive evaluation, metacognitive evaluation, and metacognitive regulation. The subjects of this study were six students from the 2020 class of Mathematics Education at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The research method used was qualitative descriptive. The results showed that the Metacognitive Awareness ability of holist students was quite good, seen from understanding their own thinking processes, aware of effective cognitive strategies, monitoring understanding, and difficulties in solving problems. The metacognitive Regulation ability of holist students is able to control their cognition actively, while serialist shows more who have this ability actively control their cognitive processes and focus on a problem. While serialist students are more students who have the ability to critically evaluate and reflect on their understanding and cognitive performance and assess the effectiveness of the strategies used in identifying problems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat membaca mahasiswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan model phenomenologi. pengumpulan data dengan wawancara secara mendalam ke 11 informan yang telah dipilih secara acak dari berbagai universitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa faktor yang mempengaruhi rendahnya minat membaca mahasiswa terdiri dari faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Faktor internal meliputi rasa malas dan kurangnya motivasi, sedangkan faktor eksternal meliputi gangguan dari media sosial, pengaruh gadget, serta lingkungan sekitar  yang kurang mendukung. Mayoritas informan hanya meluangkan waktu kurang dari satu jam setengah dalam sehari untuk membaca, jauh dibawah standar yang di telah ditetapkan oleh UNESCO, yakni 4-6 jam perhari. Simpulan dari penelitian ini, bahwa untuk meningkatkan minat membaca mahasiswa, pentingnya untuk bisa mengatasi faktor internal seperti rasa malas dan faktor eksternal seperti gangguan media sosial serta harus bisa menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung dalam kegiatan membaca.   Delving into the world of university students: Why does their reading interest decline?   Abstract: This study aims to identify the factors that influence students' reading interest. This research is a qualitative study using a phenomenological model. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with 11 informants who were randomly selected from various universities. The results showed that the factors influencing the low reading interest of students consisted of internal and external factors. Internal factors include laziness and lack of motivation, while external factors include distractions from social media, the influence of gadgets, and a less supportive surrounding environment. The majority of informants only spend less than one and a half hours a day reading, far below the standard set by UNESCO, which is 4-6 hours per day. The conclusion of this study is that to increase students' reading interest, it is important to be able to overcome internal factors such as laziness and external factors such as social media distractions and to be able to create a supportive environment for reading activities.

Abstract

This study investigates how solitude is signified in the lyrics of Orgasme dengan Sepeda by TheKick through Roland Barthes’ semiotic framework. Specifically, it maps signs that represent health, hedonism, and social recognition; explains the syntagmatic–paradigmatic relations that generate irony; and interprets the cultural implications of these representations. The method applies Barthes’ three layers of meaning—denotation, connotation, and myth—to lyric data. The findings indicate that solitude does not appear literally but emerges as a paradox between a healthy image and consumptive practice. The sign “bicycle” shifts from a symbol of fitness to a representation of social status and self-performance in digital media. Interrelations among signs produce the irony that efforts to appear healthy and trendi in fact intensify existential loneliness. The study concludes that solitude in Indonesian popular culture arises from consumerist orientations and the pursuit of social validation, rather than from physical separation. These results extend cultural semiotics by showing that the myth of consumption also operates through performative lifestyle activities and musical expression.

Abstract

Indonesian: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi citra laki-laki dalam novel Artha karya Bayu Permana melalui kajian semiotika Roland Barthes. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, melalui pendekatan analisis naratif untuk mengidentifikasi kode-kode semiotik yang membentuk karakter laki-laki dalam cerita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa citra laki-laki, terutama tokoh Arkan, digambarkan sebagai sosok yang kompleks; ia memiliki sifat galak dan dingin namun juga mampu menunjukkan kelembutan dalam hubungan dengan Agatha. Temuan ini mengungkapkan bahwa representasi tersebut mencerminkan dinamika gender dan konflik emosional yang ada dalam konteks remaja. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa novel Artha tidak hanya menyajikan kisah cinta, tetapi juga menggambarkan realitas sosial yang lebih luas melalui karakterisasi yang mendalam. English: This research aims to analyze the representation of male image in Artha novel by Bayu Permana through Roland Barthes semiotic study. The method used is qualitative, with a narrative analysis approach to identify semiotic codes that shape male characters in the story. The results show that the image of men, especially the character Arkan, is portrayed as a complex figure; he has a fierce and cold nature but is also able to show tenderness in his relationship with Agatha. The findings reveal that these representations reflect the gender dynamics and emotional conflicts that exist in the context of adolescence. The conclusion of this study is that Artha’s novel not only presents a love story, but also depicts a broader social reality through in-depth characterization.

Abstract

Indonesia faces a significant shortage of digitally competent vocational teachers, yet existing assessment instruments often rely on aggregate scores that fail to diagnose specific cognitive deficits. This study addresses this gap by developing a diagnostic assessment instrument for vocational IT pre-service teachers. The research contribution is the validation of a domain-specific Cognitive Diagnostic Model (CDM) framework that integrates general digital pedagogy with vocational IT technical expertise, enabling precise attribute mastery profiling. The study employed a cross-sectional survey design with a purposive sample of 270 informatics education students. Data were analyzed using a multi-stage psychometric approach, combining Classical Test Theory (CTT), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and the Generalized Deterministic Inputs, Noisy "And" Gate (G-DINA) model to determine attribute mastery. The results demonstrated that the 32-item instrument achieved excellent model fit (RMSEA₂=0.011) and outstanding classification accuracy (93.71%). Systematic profiling revealed that female students consistently outperformed males across all dimensions, while a non-linear developmental trajectory was observed with a significant competency decline in the third semester followed by recovery. In conclusion, the G-DINA-based instrument provides a robust diagnostic tool for identifying specific learning needs, suggesting that teacher preparation programs require targeted interventions during critical transition periods to support continuous competency development.

Abstract

Mayoritas guru di SLB Negeri Martapura, Kalimantan Selatan, mengalami kesulitan dalam melakukan penelitian dan penulisan artikel ilmiah di jurnal pendidikan, serta menulis buku-buku untuk anak SLB di penerbit maupun media massa. Padahal, banyak masalah baik itu tentang pembelajaran maupun anak di SLB, yang bisa diangkat sebagai judul penelitian maupun artikel. Salah satu solusi untuk menjawab masalah guru-guru SLB Negeri Martapura adalah dengan Program Kemitraan Masyarakat Stimulus (PKMS) Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan (PKB) bagi Guru-guru di SLB Negeri Martapura Kabupaten Banjar. Pengembangan kompetensi guru yang dilaksanakan sesuai dengan kebutuhan, bertahap, berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan profesionalitasnya. Tujuannya pengabdian ini adalah memberikan motivasi kepada guru-guru SLB Negeri Martapura untuk menyusun PKB dalam bentuk (1) sosialisasi selayang pandang tentang PKB; (2) workshop penyusunan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK); (3) workshop menulis di jurnal Pendidikan; dan (4) workshop menulis buku-buku pendidikan dan artikel ilmiah populer di media massa. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa guru-guru SLB Negeri Martapura lebih termotivasi untuk menyusun PKB, berupa menyusun PTK (proposal), menulis di jurnal, serta menulis buku-buku untuk anak SLB dan artikel ilmiah (opini) di media massa, meskipun baru sebatas draft.

Abstract

This case study explores the development of independence in an elementary school-aged child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Using qualitative methods—including direct observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis—the study identified key factors that facilitated independent behavior in both home and school settings. The child demonstrated increased autonomy in daily tasks such as toileting, dressing, and class participation, particularly when supported by structured interventions including visual schedules, task analysis, and token reinforcement systems. A significant finding was the role of consistent collaboration between parents and teachers, which enabled the child to generalize skills across environments. These results affirm the importance of individualized support strategies and inter-setting consistency in promoting independence among children with ASD. The study concludes by recommending sustained, context-sensitive interventions and further research across multiple participants and settings to inform evidence-based practices in special education.
