Abstract

Many road damages are caused by road construction that does not follow standards, so evaluating road conditions and choosing the appropriate asphalt for each state is essential. So, in this study, the asphalt mixture was modified using rubber asphalt with a percentage of rubber of 7% in the Hot Rolled Sheet-Wearing Course (HRS-WC). This study aimed to identify the effect of rubber asphalt on Marshall's characteristics and durability in HRS-WC. The method in this study is the Marshall Test and the calculation of the durability index on the test specimen with an immersion time of 0.5, 24, 72, and 168 hours at a temperature of 60°C. From the test results, the Optimum Asphalt Content (OAC) value of the rubber asphalt mixture was 7.13% with Marshall characteristic values of 4078.686 kg, flow 3.266 mm, MQ 1270.676 kg/mm, VMA 21.487%, VFB 71.983%, and VIM 6.062%. From the durability test results, the Residual Strength Index (RSI) value entered the specification only until the 24-hour immersion time with a value of 94.891%. The First Durability Index (FDI) and Second Durability Index (SDI) values are positive, where the mixture loses strength with increasing immersion time. It can be concluded that using rubber asphalt in HRS-WC is good enough for pavement because almost all Marshall characteristics were included in the specifications used. The stability value in the rubber asphalt mixture is higher than that of the pen—60/70 asphalt mixture. However, the level of durability of the rubber asphalt mixture is relatively low because it can only last up to 24 hours of immersion. Therefore, HRS-WC using rubber asphalt is unsuitable in areas with low groundwater levels or areas that often flood.

Abstract

The cement industry is one of the largest contributors to air pollution due to its high level of energy consumption. Emissions from cement factories contain chemicals that are harmful to health and the environment. Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) is a dust collector commonly used in cement factories. As a result of the lifetime of the equipment being more than 30 years, the reliability of the ESP for collecting dust has decreased. In normal operation, ESP emits stack emissions ± 40 mg/Nm3 and can reach more than 60 mg/Nm3 under abnormal conditions. To reduce the impact of emissions on the environment, reduction efforts are needed so that dust emissions in chimneys according emission standards, both during normal and abnormal operating conditions. To overcome the limitations of ESP performance, conversion to Bag House Filter (BHF) was carried out. After the conversion was carried out, the emission level that came out of the chimney was 9 mg/Nm3. With BHF's high ability and efficiency in collecting dust, chimney emissions can be reduced by 78%. Keywords: Bag House Filter, Electrostatic Precipitator, Emission

Abstract

This paper aims to apply the halal value chain to Tanah Liek Batik textiles to become halal batik products, using a framework designed to analyze the halal value chain. The method used in dealing with this problem is to apply HCCP (Halal Critical Control Point) to the company's activity value chain to become a halal value chain. The initial data used is a flow diagram of the production process of four types of Tanah Liek Batik products: Tanah Liek dyed batik, chemically dyed batik, stamped batik with soil-like dye, and chemically dyed batik. Based on the results of the identification of haram materials in each process in the activity, the Halal Control Point (HCP) is obtained. The application of HCCP to the Tanah Liek Batik value chain has 13 critical points of haram products, which come from the process, facilities, and tools and materials used during the production process. This study also produces a Halal Value Chain framework in the Textile Industry. Applying this framework in the textile industry is expected to increase the number of halal-certified textile industries.

Abstract

The manufacturing industry sector, especially Small and Medium Industries (SMEs), faces major challenges in increasing competitiveness, especially related to the dynamic changes in the global supply chain and the need for halal food products. This study aims to analyze research trends related to Sustainable Halal Supply Chain (SHSC) using a bibliometric analysis approach. Using data from the Scopus database, this study identifies relevant scientific publications and examines the contributions of various countries, authors, and journal sources on this topic. The results of the analysis show that research related to SHSC has grown rapidly after 2018, driven by increasing attention to sustainability and global market demand for environmentally friendly halal products. Countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia lead publications on this topic, focusing on the integration of halal principles and sustainability in the supply chain. Despite a significant increase in publications, most of the research is still conceptual, with a lack of empirical data, especially outside Southeast Asia and the Middle East. This study proposes to increase empirical-based studies, especially in Indonesia, to understand the challenges and opportunities in implementing SHSC. This study provides insight into the development and direction of SHSC research, as well as its contribution to economic, social, and environmental sustainability in the halal food industry.

Abstract

Palm oil had become one of Indonesia’s leading commodities, contributing significantly to national economic development; however, it faced sustainability challenges, particularly concerning greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with international standards. This study examined the measurement of environmental impact per monetary unit of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and kernel production in Palm Oil Mill X, by integrating environmental and socio-economic impacts through Eco-efficiency Analysis. The environmental impact assessment was conducted using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method, while the socio-economic impact values were measured using the Economic Input-Output (EIO) method. The data used in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data were collected directly from Palm Oil Mill X, including information on production volumes, energy consumption and waste generation. Secondary data were obtained from published literature, government reports and national statistical database to complement and validate the primary data used in the analysis. The study evaluated eleven environmental impact categories, one of which was GWP. The research findings indicated that for a functional unit of 1 ton of CPO, the GWP was measured at 556.31 kg CO₂ eq/ton CPO, with approximately 80% of the GWP originating from CPO processing and wastewater (POME). In terms of socio-economic aspects, the wage multiplier was recorded at 0.930 and the tax contribution at 0.0698, demonstrating the significant contribution of the palm oil industry to labor income. The final economic contribution value (G⁺) was noted to be Rp 23,728,407/ton CPO. The results of the Eco-efficiency Analysis revealed that the GWP per Rupiah was 2.34 × 10⁻⁵ kg CO₂ eq/Rp, indicating opportunities for emission reduction through the use of cleaner energy. This study provided a quantitative overview of the interrelationship between environmental performance and socio-economic benefits, serving as a strategic reference for enhancing the sustainability of the palm oil industry.
