Abstract

Foundation is a structural element that functions as a support for the construction loads above it. These loads are transmitted to the soil, so the depth of the foundation must reach the depth of hard soil; therefore, the determination of the depth and type of foundation used must be based on soil investigation conducted during the bridge construction planning phase. The Kikuba bridge project is planned to use pile foundations with a depth of 5 meters. After conducting soil investigation using drilling equipment, the N-SPT 60 results for Abutment-1 were obtained at an average depth of 19 meters, rendering pile foundations unsuitable. The accuracy of selecting the type of foundation used depends greatly on the depth of hard soil. The Kikuba bridge construction project encountered an average depth of hard soil at 19 meters, thus necessitating an analysis to change the design from pile foundations to bore pile foundations, while meeting the technical requirements of the foundation and analyzing using the Meyerhoof method.

Abstract

Over the years, the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Knowledge-Based View (KBV) have solidified their roles as pivotal paradigms in strategic management literature. With an emphasis on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), this study uses text analysis and Microsoft Power BI to explore these concepts innovatively. The study implements a systematic literature review, extracting data from Scopus, Web of Science, and DOAJ databases to assemble a comprehensive literature corpus. The methodology incorporates text analysis to draw out key themes, relationships, and trends, and these are subsequently visualized using Power BI to create an engaging, interactive representation of data. Components like word clouds, co-occurrence networks, and trend lines are generated, while Power BI's dynamic filtering and drill-down functionalities facilitate thorough data investigation. The results display significant overlap between RBV and KBV, denoting possible integration junctures for these theories within the domain of strategic management. Additionally, the study underscores the relevance of these insights for SMEs, emphasizing the part played by unique resources, encompassing knowledge assets, in catalyzing innovation and fostering a competitive edge. The study concludes by recognizing the significant theoretical and practical implications of integrating text analysis and Power BI in conducting literature reviews. This methodology bolsters our understanding of RBV and KBV, offering small and medium-sized enterprises a beneficial instrument to traverse these intricate theories. The study suggests that future research could broaden the application of this methodological approach to encompass other strategic management theories.

Abstract

Many road damages are caused by road construction that does not follow standards, so evaluating road conditions and choosing the appropriate asphalt for each state is essential. So, in this study, the asphalt mixture was modified using rubber asphalt with a percentage of rubber of 7% in the Hot Rolled Sheet-Wearing Course (HRS-WC). This study aimed to identify the effect of rubber asphalt on Marshall's characteristics and durability in HRS-WC. The method in this study is the Marshall Test and the calculation of the durability index on the test specimen with an immersion time of 0.5, 24, 72, and 168 hours at a temperature of 60°C. From the test results, the Optimum Asphalt Content (OAC) value of the rubber asphalt mixture was 7.13% with Marshall characteristic values of 4078.686 kg, flow 3.266 mm, MQ 1270.676 kg/mm, VMA 21.487%, VFB 71.983%, and VIM 6.062%. From the durability test results, the Residual Strength Index (RSI) value entered the specification only until the 24-hour immersion time with a value of 94.891%. The First Durability Index (FDI) and Second Durability Index (SDI) values are positive, where the mixture loses strength with increasing immersion time. It can be concluded that using rubber asphalt in HRS-WC is good enough for pavement because almost all Marshall characteristics were included in the specifications used. The stability value in the rubber asphalt mixture is higher than that of the pen—60/70 asphalt mixture. However, the level of durability of the rubber asphalt mixture is relatively low because it can only last up to 24 hours of immersion. Therefore, HRS-WC using rubber asphalt is unsuitable in areas with low groundwater levels or areas that often flood.

Abstract

The cement industry is one of the largest contributors to air pollution due to its high level of energy consumption. Emissions from cement factories contain chemicals that are harmful to health and the environment. Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) is a dust collector commonly used in cement factories. As a result of the lifetime of the equipment being more than 30 years, the reliability of the ESP for collecting dust has decreased. In normal operation, ESP emits stack emissions ± 40 mg/Nm3 and can reach more than 60 mg/Nm3 under abnormal conditions. To reduce the impact of emissions on the environment, reduction efforts are needed so that dust emissions in chimneys according emission standards, both during normal and abnormal operating conditions. To overcome the limitations of ESP performance, conversion to Bag House Filter (BHF) was carried out. After the conversion was carried out, the emission level that came out of the chimney was 9 mg/Nm3. With BHF's high ability and efficiency in collecting dust, chimney emissions can be reduced by 78%. Keywords: Bag House Filter, Electrostatic Precipitator, Emission

Abstract

Bakery product is a product with huge business opportunities in the domestic and international halal food market. Bakery companies demand to keep consumers' trust in their bakery products. This study aims to design the halal assessment model required to determine the critical point in the bakery-making business process. This assessment tool is intended to understand, acknowledge, and determine the critical point of the bakery production process from the halal degree and is reviewed from all aspects, such as the materials’ content, as well as the material acquisition and processing method based on 18 criteria of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) principles. The halal assessment model designed in this research used the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach, which was integrated into the company's business process. The halal critical bakery (HCB) was grouped based on Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model. Matrix 1 integrated GMP and business process (BP), and matrix 2 integrated GMP and HCB. The results of the design model implementation based on the standards set by the Halal Auditor of Institute for the Study of Food, Drugs, and Cosmetics Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI) found that the company met the standard matrix component one by 47%. In comparison, matrix component 2 was only able to meet the Auditor standards by 34%, and the matrix component 3 standards were able to be fulfilled by the company by 75%. The fulfillment value of each matrix is influenced by the negative gap that occurs; the negative gap occurs because of the standard criteria in the technical matrix that are not accomplished. This halal assessment model design is expected to help the company evaluate and control critical points in the business processes.

Abstract

This research's focal points are identifying key factors of halal food standards (HFS) in small-medium industries (SMIs) in Padang and exploring the roles of traceability systems in compliance with the halal assurance system (HAS). The sample size included 105 food SMIs in Padang through a survey using questionnaires. The study employed Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) as a data analysis technique. Results demonstrated that external pressure from government regulations and organizational commitment as part of internal initiatives significantly affected HFS adoption, whereas the latter had a stronger effect. Meanwhile, consumer pressure, industrial competition, marketing function, operational improvement, and suppliers had no significant impact. Results also exhibited that HFS adoption and traceability systems had a significant implication for compliance with HAS. The limitation lies in variables related to halal food standard adoption factors. Accordingly, future researchers have to explore the analyzed phenomenon in various research contexts. In sum, the results afford valuable information that is favorable for industries, allowing them to provide better and safer halal food products for consumers. They also indicate that the halal traceability system enables food SMIs to elevate their business and offers a vast potency for further developing halal industries in Indonesia.
