Abstract

Kilo Watt Hour Meter or kWh meter is a tool for calculating the amount of electrical energy used by electricity consumers, both residential and industrial customers. The electrical energy used is then converted into the electricity price that must be paid each month. Currently, most kWh meters in circulation are smart kWh, which use electricity tokens as transaction calculations. Customers must fill in 20 token numbers via the kWh meter keypad to fill in electricity tokens. Filling in this 20-digit token is not easy, this is because usually, this type of kWh is placed in a higher place to avoid the reach of children. This placement sometimes causes problems with replenishing the token, and users must start over from the beginning. This research aims to create a tool to fill in electricity token numbers that can be controlled using an Android application, making it easier for users to fill in electricity tokens remotely via smartphone. Apart from that, this system has feedback in the form of notifications that display numbers that failed to be filled in on the kWh meter. Test results show that this system can function well from 10 meters without obstructions and 9 meters without obstructions.

Abstract

Torque ripple analysis and calculation methods in an axial-type Magnetic Gear (MG) design with four rectangular NdFeB magnetic layers have been reviewed and discussed. Smooth and steadily transmitted torque is an essential characteristic of a magnetic gear. Reducing possible mechanical vibration, position inaccuracy, and acoustic noise is necessary. Therefore, this study aims to design a new engineering method appropriate for calculating the torque ripple of the MG transmission by testing its mechanical and electrical properties. Two simultaneous torque tests compare the MG brakes from zero to full load. In addition, the transmission torque of the axial MG is measured and calculated using technical methods. The results showed that differences in dynamic torque occurred in the MG at various air gap distances.

Abstract

Based on the 2021-2030 RUPTL, the addition of PLTU Timor 1 (2 × 50 MW) to the Timor system is carried out because electricity demand continues to increase. Therefore, a transient stability study is needed, to determine the reliability of the system when a disturbance occurs. By utilizing the Time Domain Simulation (TDS) method, the research was conducted by simulating generator outage and 3 phase short circuit to study the frequency stability of the Timor system. From the simulation results, generator outage has a major influence on system frequency stability, especially simulated at PLTU Timor 1 unit 1. The disturbance caused a decrease in the lowest frequency reaching 49.61 Hz so that it was not within the safe operating limits according to the operating guidelines for the Timor electricity system. For this reason, Manual Load Shedding (MLS) and the addition of generators at PLTD Cogindo and PLTMG Kupang Peaker are required. The action is carried out by paying attention to the rate of change of the next frequency. As for the 3 phase short circuit disturbance on one of the Bolok - Maulafa lines, the frequency increased to 50.06 Hz after the disturbance which is still within safe operating limits.

Abstract

This study aims to design and implement a smart kWh meter system based on ESP32 that is capable of monitoring and controlling electricity consumption in households with a connected power of 1300 VA. The developed system utilizes the ESP32 microcontroller as the main data processor, which is integrated with the PZEM-004T sensor to measure electrical parameters, including voltage, current, power, energy, and power factor. Measurement data is displayed in real-time through the Blynk application, while control and limitation of energy consumption are managed using a Telegram bot service. The system is equipped with a relay to automatically disconnect the load when energy consumption exceeds a predetermined limit. System testing is conducted by comparing the sensor measurement results against the PLN kWh meter as a reference tool. The test results indicate that the developed smart kWh meter system operates effectively and possesses an average current measurement accuracy of above 99% across various types of household loads. Additionally, the load control and notification system based on Telegram functions reliably in limiting electricity consumption. Therefore, this system can serve as an effective solution to assist household users in monitoring and controlling electricity consumption more efficiently.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki potensi energi surya yang besar sehingga pemanfaatannya pada sistem Penerangan Jalan Umum (PJU) berbasis tenaga surya sangat prospektif, namun panel surya dengan posisi statis belum mampu menyerap energi secara optimal akibat perubahan sudut datang sinar matahari sepanjang hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan solar tracker single-axis terhadap daya keluaran panel surya pada sistem PJU. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental dengan membandingkan kinerja panel surya statis pada sudut 45°, 90°, dan 135° dengan panel surya dinamis yang dilengkapi sistem solar tracker single-axis berbasis Arduino Uno. Parameter yang dianalisis meliputi tegangan, arus, daya keluaran, dan persentase penyerapan energi, dengan pengujian dilakukan dari pukul 06.00 hingga 17.00 pada interval 30 menit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa panel surya dengan sistem pelacak menghasilkan daya keluaran yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan panel statis, dengan total daya keluaran panel dinamis mencapai 64,84 W, sedangkan panel statis menghasilkan daya antara 31,25 W hingga 40,06 W. Selain itu, tingkat penyerapan energi panel surya dinamis mencapai 87,51%, lebih tinggi dibandingkan panel surya statis yang berada pada kisaran 42,18%–54,06%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan solar tracker single-axis efektif dalam meningkatkan daya keluaran dan efisiensi energi panel surya pada sistem PJU.
