Abstract

of Bandung, as a group that faces unique challenges related to adapting to new environments and lifestyles, often experience problems related to the quality of their sleep. Urban environmental factors such as noise, bright light, and air pollution can affect their sleep patterns. This study uses a longitudinal observational approach to investigate the influence of sleep quality on the health and academic achievement of migrant students. Data were collected via questionnaires and, where possible, sleep measuring devices. The analysis results show a significant correlation between sleep quality, physical health, mental health, and academic achievement. College students with better sleep patterns tend to have better physical health, lower stress levels, and higher academic achievement. The implication of this research is the importance of supporting the sleep quality of overseas students through educational programs and accessibility to mental health resources. Lifestyle factors such as a balanced diet, adequate physical activity, and stress management are also important in improving sleep quality. This research provides in-depth insight into the factors that influence the sleep quality of migrant students and provides a basis for the development of interventions that support their well-being and academic success in urban environments.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the acceptability of color, taste and aroma of candied starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) with three different formulations, namely fresh starfruit, dried candied and wet candied. The assessment was carried out by 30 trained panelists using the Hedonic Scale Scoring method. The analysis results show that there are significant differences in the acceptability of color and taste of sweets based on different formulations. Wet sweets (P3) received the highest assessment in all aspects, including color, taste and aroma. Although aroma plays an important role in determining the deliciousness of food, statistical test results show that sweet formulations do not significantly influence the perception of aroma by panelists. These results provide important insights in developing candied starfruit products that are more in line with consumer preferences.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the understanding and motivation of Tasikmalaya 1 Public High School students towards the extracurricular sport of volleyball. The research method used is quantitative descriptive using a Likert scale. The research results show that some students still have a limited understanding of volleyball, even though the majority like this extracurricular activity. Lack of motivation in playing volleyball is caused by limited facilities and limited practice time. Characteristics of volleyball extracurricular participants include a high level of sportsmanship, while the teenage phase marks a significant phase in the participant's development. This research highlights the importance of developing intrinsic motivation in students to increase participation in extracurricular activities and offers insight into how volleyball extracurriculars can be an effective tool in student character formation and self-development.

Abstract

Effervescent powder formulations combining red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) extract and honey were developed and evaluated for their physical, chemical, and antibacterial properties. The formulations were prepared using wet granulation method, and their organoleptic properties, moisture content, flow characteristics, dispersibility, foam height, pH, and hedonic responses were assessed. Additionally, the antibacterial activity of the formulations against Streptococcus pyogenes was evaluated using agar diffusion method. The results showed that the formulations exhibited variations in color, odor, taste, and physical form, with formulation F3 containing 10% red ginger extract demonstrating the best sensory attributes. All formulations met the moisture content and flow time criteria, indicating good stability and handling properties. They also displayed rapid dispersibility and proper foam height upon dissolution. The pH values fell within the acceptable range for consumption. However, none of the formulations showed significant antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pyogenes. Further optimization may be required to enhance the formulations' antibacterial efficacy.

Abstract

This research discusses the role of media conglomerates in the context of migration policies from analog to digital broadcasts. Media conglomerates often have great influence in the media industry, and migration policies such as these can affect the way information is delivered and accessed by the public. This research analyzes the tendency of media conglomerates to report information that suits their interests, their impact on society, and how they respond to digital migration policies. The political economy of communication theory, especially the concepts of commodification, spatialization, and structuration, is used to explain these dynamics. Some media conglomerates reject the migration policy, considering it a threat to their dominance in the media industry. However, migration policies also open up opportunities for new entrants in the broadcasting industry. In conclusion, it is important to understand how the dynamics of the political economy of the media influence media policies that affect society.

Abstract

Concrete is a building material produced by mixing fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, Portland cement, and water. The design of concrete must be in accordance with applicable standards, the process and materials used must meet the main criteria, namely strength, high compressive strength, and easy workmanship. In addition, it must also meet the criteria of being durable, inexpensive, and wear-resistant, among others. In concrete there are two categories of aggregates required, namely fine aggregate and coarse aggregate, the function of the aggregate in the concrete mixture is as a filler, hence the need for good binding and filling properties. The percentage of aggregate used in concrete is very large, so aggregate contributes to the strength of concrete. The research method used materials in accordance with the reference SNI 03-2834-2000. The fine aggregate used is Tayan Sand material from a river in the West Kalimantan area, and the coarse aggregate comes from Rumpin, Bogor. Mix Design is a mixture proportion of the constituent materials that have been tested, it is intended that the proportion of the mixture can meet the strength requirements. The fine and coarse aggregates used qualitatively meet the requirements as concrete constituent materials. From the parameters of cleanliness, gradation, specific gravity, absorption, and organic content are still within the tolerance range of material acceptance specifications.
