Abstract

This research aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of a higher - order thinking test developed on material of virus. The test instrument developed was aimed at mapping the ability of prospective science teacher in the preliminary study of developing an integrated learning model. This research is a Research and Development referring to Borg and Gall ( 1989) with 10 stages of research, namely : (1) Initial research and data collection , (2) Planning , (3) Initial product manufacture , (4) Initial trial (expert validation) , (5) Initial product improvement , (6) Test field trial , (7) Operational product improvement , (8) Operational field test (effectiveness test/external validity test) , (9) Final product revision, and (10) Dissemination. The research involved the following experimental subjects : (1) The initial trial involved virus material experts, research and education evaluation experts ; (2) The small group trial involved 36 student teacher candidates at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta for the 2020/2021 academic year; (3) The large group trial involved 60 student teacher candidates at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta for the 2020/2021 academic year ; and (4) an operational field test (effectiveness test/external validity test) involving 30 teacher candidates at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta for the 2020/2021 academic year. The data analysis techniques used were the validity of AIken at the validation stage, item test analysis in the field trial and Pearson correlation analysis at the operational /effectiveness field test stage. The final results of this research are computer-assisted higher order thinking test with 8 questions of higher order thinking on virus material that has strong internal validity with an Aiken validity index of more than 0.73 ( 0.84 to 0.92 ), reliability coefficient 0.814 > 0.213 (r table ) which means high reliability, difficulty index of 0.17 (difficult) to 0.455 (medium), and discriminant index (differentiation power) of 0.2 (enough) to 0.745 (good). External validity/effectiveness is 0.626 (strong enough) to 0.831 (strong) which is the correlation of higher order thinking test results developed with other higher-order thinking tests on virus. The conclusion of this research is that the developed test instrument is feasible and effective to measure the higher order thinking ability of virus.

Abstract

Pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan potensi lokal pada kawasan Umbul Tlatar di Boyolali sebagai alternatif yang dapat digunakan untuk pembelajaran materi biologi. Modul Discovery Learning (DL) dengan menggunakan potensi lokal Umbul Tlatar diharapkan mengaktifkan siswa terutama pada materi struktur tumbuhan. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui kelayakan modul. Metode penelitian menggunakan model penelitian dan pengembangan Borg & Gall yang terfokus tahap uji coba pertama dan tahap revisi produk. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi: observasi dan angket,.Data yang diperoleh yaitu data hasil validasi ahli. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan menunjukkan modul dinyatakan layak oleh ahli materi sebesar 96,23%(modul siswa) dan 96,79% (modul guru), ahli penyajian modul 87,09%(modul siswa) dan 87,09%( (modul guru), ahli perangkat pembelajaran 80,50%(modul siswa) dan 84,38% (modul guru), ahli evaluasi sebesar 93,75%(modul siswa) dan 93,75%(modul guru). Hasil uji validasi menunjukkan kelayakan Modul Discovery Learning StrukturTumbuhan dengan menggunakan Potensi Lokal Umbul Tlatar Untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Regulasi Diri dan Sikap Kepedulian Lingkungan Siswa SMA

Abstract

Pembelajaran sains saat ini umumnya lebih terpusat pada dosen, dimana dosen menjadi sumber pengetahuan sehingga mahasiswa hanya mengandalkan informasi dari dosen dalam proses pembelajaran sehingga berdampak pada kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi lemah. Alternatif untuk mengatasi hal tersebut dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran SocioScientific Problem based Learning with Spiritual Value dan Problem based Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa calon guru sains menggunakan model SocioScientific Problem based Learning with Spiritual Value dan problem based learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan kelas eksperimen dengan model Socio-Scientific Problem based Learning with Spiritual Value dan model Problem Based Learning. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi-experiment. Sampel penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa calon guru sains FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta semester VI Tahun Akademik 2021-2022. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Teknik analisis yang digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis adalah Two Independent Sample Test (Uji Mann Withney U). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa calon guru sains menggunakan model pembelajaran Socio-Scientific Problem based Learning with Spiritual Value dengan model pembelajaran Problem based Learning. Nilai rata-rata dari kelas yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan model SocioScientific Problem based Learning with Spiritual Value 66,20 dengan nilai terendah 56,35 dan nilai tertinggi 79,60. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dari kelas yang dibelajarkan dengan menggunakan model Problem based Learning sebesar 51,40 dengan nilai terendah 39,70 dan nilai tertinggi 69,10.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for developing a Project-Based Learning (PjBL)-based e-module on the human respiratory system to strengthen senior high school students’ critical thinking skills. The needs analysis was carried out through questionnaires distributed to students and biology teachers. Findings reveal that students frequently encounter difficulties in understanding respiratory system concepts when learning is limited to verbal explanations or textbook-based materials. Students also expressed a preference for digital learning resources equipped with visual representations, videos, practical tasks, and clearly structured learning stages. Biology teachers emphasized the urgency of providing digital media aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum that support collaborative activities and the development of higher-order thinking skills. They also agreed that a PjBL-based e-module has the potential to enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and conceptual understanding of the respiratory system. Therefore, the development of a PjBL-based e-module is considered necessary as an interactive and effective learning medium that accommodates both student and teacher needs while promoting meaningful learning and critical thinking.

Abstract

This research was to improve the prospective mathematics teachers’ writing skills in one of the universities in Indonesia. This was classroom-action research to improve students’ skills in writing research proposals. The quantitative and qualitative methods were used. Final year students were selected as the subjects. Observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews, anecdotal notes, and student final manuscripts were used as the instruments. The data were analyzed quantitatively to see improvements between cycles and learning completion. Data was also analyzed qualitatively to describe the improvements due to the TTW model after the data reduction and triangulation. The results showed that there were improvements to students’ writing skills by using the TTW model. Cycle #1 completion was 45.45%, Cycle #2 was 69.7%, and Cycle #3 was 81.82%. Students’ skills were improved because TTW provided exercises for thinking skills. TTW also improving speech skills by training students to speak in front of class forums, and improving writing skills by training the students to compile research proposals and providing opportunities to consult with teachers.

Abstract

Pembelajaran sistem daring pada masa pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan menurunnya minat belajar siswa yang dipantau dari kegiatan observasi pada kelas eksperimen. Penurunan minat belajar siswa didukung oleh data studi literatur dan hasil data observasi pada kelas eksperimen. Penambahan suplemen Modul Digital Interakif sebagai media pembelajaran merupakan sarana pelengkap untuk menambah maksimalnya proses daring dengan model Discovery Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui kelayakan Modul Digital Interaktif berbasis model Discovery Learning; dan 2) meningkatkan minat belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model 4D yang diringkas dan dioptimalkan menjadi 3D. Sampel penelitian dipilih secara purposive sampling yaitu pada kelas XI MIPA 2 berjumlah 35 siswa SMA Negeri I Karanganyar tahun pelajaran 2020/2021. Instrumen penelitian meliputi perangkat pembelajaran, lembar observasi, panduan wawancara, dan angket. Angket terdiri dari validasi penilaian ahli angket, validasi penilaian ahli materi, validasi penilaian ahli media, validasi penilaian ahli pembelajaran, validasi penilaian ahli praktisi, angket minat belajar, angket analisis kebutuhan siswa dan angket respons siswa terhadap media. Teknik analisis data terdiri dari deskriptif kualitatif dan deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan analisis Rasch di aplikasi Winstep 3.73. Hasil dari penelitian adalah: 1) Modul Digital Interaktif berkategori sangat layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran berdasarkan hasil penilaian ahli praktisi, ahli pembelajaran, ahli media, dan ahli materi; dan 2) ada peningkatan minat belajar siswa berdasarkan hasil analisis data pre-angket dan post-angket minat belajar yang dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis Rasch dengan metode stacking. Online learning system during the covid-19 pandemic era has impacted students’ learning interest to decrease as of the observation on experiment class. The decrease of students’ learning interest is confirmed by the data of literary review and the observation result on the experiment class. Adding the supplement of Interactive Digital Module as learning media is a complement to maximize the online learning process with Discovery Learning model. The objectives of this research are 1) to know the feasibility of Discovery Learning-based Interactive Digital Modules; and 2) to increase students’ learning interest. This research is a development research with 4D model which is summed up into 3D. The sample of this research is done with purposive sampling method, i.e. 35 students of MIPA XI Class in SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar the academic year of 2020/2021. The instruments applied in this research are learning equipment, observation form, interview guidance, and questionnaire. The questionnaires consist of validation by questionnaire experts, validation by material experts, validation by media experts, validation by educational experts, validation by practitioners, learning interest questionnaire, students’ need questionnaire, and students’ to-media-response questionnaire. Data analysis technique are qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive by using Rasch analysis technique in the application of Winstep 3.73. The result of this research are that: 1) Interactive Digital Modules are very feasible to be used in learning process based on the evaluation by practitioners, educational experts, media experts, and material experts; and 2) there is an increase on students’ learning interest based on the analysis results on the data of pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire by Rasch analysis technique with stacking method.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis positions the education sector as a strategic actor in mitigation and adaptation efforts. This study analyzes biology teacher needs to establish a foundation for developing an e-module based on the Collaborative Problem Solving Environmental Issue-Based Socio-Scientific Issues (CPS-EIS) framework. Through a descriptive research design, data were obtained from practitioners using a validated five-level Likert scale instrument. Evidence indicates a high priority for digital media that integrates authentic environmental cases and guides systematic collaborative thinking processes over simple information delivery. The integration of the CPS-EIS model offers a novel solution by aligning collaborative group work with the analysis of controversial socio-scientific issues to address the disparity between curriculum objectives and field realities. These results serve as the primary guideline for the instructional design of adaptive tools intended to improve environmental literacy and student collaboration in high school settings.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah mengetahui keefektivan modul berbasis Problem solving untuk meningkatkan kekampuan analisis siswa. Metode yang digunakan untuk penelitian dan pengembangan sesuai dengan prosedur Borg and Gall yang dimodifikasi menjadi sembilan tahapan dengan menerapkan sintaks model pembelajaran Problem solving. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini menggunakan rancangan eksperimen one group pretest posttest design. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan ini menyatakan bahwa modul berbasis Problem solving pada materi pencemaran lingkungan efektif meningkatkan kemampuan analisis siswa. Hasil uji Wilcoxon terdapat perbedaan antara nilai sebelum diberikan modul berbasis Problem solving dan sesudah diberikan modul dengan nilai probabilitas (p) sebesar 0,000 lebih kecil dari 0,05. Menurut hasil uji Wilcoxon dapat disimpulkan bahwa modul berbasis Problem solving efektif meningkatkan kemampuan analisis pada materi pencemaran lingkungan

Abstract

ABSTRAK-Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dengan metode eksperimen disertai teknik Roundhouse Diagram dan Mind Map, gaya belajar, dan motivasi belajar serta interaksinya terhadap hasil belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor pada materi Sistem Ekskresi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMAN Kebakkramat Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013 Semester II. Sampel penelitian ditentukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling terdiri dari dua kelas. Kelas eksperimen I (XI IPA 2) belajar menggunakan model PBL dengan metode eksperimen disertai teknik Roundhouse Diagram dan kelas eksperimen II (XI IPA 3) belajar menggunakan model PBL dengan metode eksperimen disertai teknik Mind Map. Teknikpengumpulan data menggunakan metode tes untuk data hasil belajar kognitif, angket dan lembar observasi untuk hasil belajar afektif dan psikomotor serta angket untuk gaya dan motivasi belajar. Uji hipotesis menggunakan anava tiga jalan dengan desain faktorial 2x2x2. Berdasarkan hasil olah data disimpulkan: 1) ada pengaruh model PBL dengan metode eksperimen disertai teknik Roundhouse Diagram dan Mind Map terhadap hasil belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor; 2) ada pengaruh gaya belajar kinestetik dan visual terhadap hasil belajar kognitif, afektif dan psikomotor; 3) ada pengaruh motivasi belajar tinggi dan rendah terhadap hasil belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor; 4) adainteraksi antara teknik pembelajaran dengan gaya belajar siswaterhadap hasil belajar afektif, tetapi tidak pada hasil belajar kognitif dan psikomotor; 5) tidak ada interaksi antara teknik pembelajaran dengan motivasi belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor; 6) ada interaksi antara gaya belajar dengan motivasi belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar psikomotor, tetapi tidak pada hasil belajar kognitif dan afektif; 7) tidak ada interaksi antara teknik pembelajaran, gaya belajar, dan motivasi belajar siswa terhadap hasil belajar kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor.

Abstract

The objectives of this research and development are to investigate: 1) characteristic of biology module based on reasoning and problem solving (RPS) with network tree concept mapping (CM); 2) feasibility of biology module based on RPS with network tree CM to empower science process skills and evaluation abilities; 3) effectiveness of biology module based on RPS with network tree CM toward science process skills; and 4) effectiveness of biology module based on RPS with network tree CM toward evaluation abilities. This research used the Research and Development (R&D) which referred to the model claimed by Borg & Gall (1983) with some modifications. The samples of the research included those of preliminary field testing which involved 7 validators, those of main field testing that involved 10 students, and those of operational field testing which involved 32 students. The operational field testing used the one group pretest and posstest design. The data of research were gathered through questionnaire, observation, interview, and test. The data of science process skills and evaluation abilities were tested by means of paired sample t-test and calculated by using normalized gain score. The results of research showed that: 1) the characteristics of biology module based on RPS with network tree CM are as follows: (a) the development uses the model claimed by Borg & Gall with some modifications (research and information collecting, planning, development of preliminary form of product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, operational product revision, operational field, final product revision, and dissemination and implementation); (b) module developed by RPSsyntax(read and think, explore and plan, select strategy, find and answer, dan reflect and extend);(c) module with network treeCM as a techniques  of expansion and strengthening concept; (d) the learning activities in the module can empower science process skills and evaluation abilities; 2) the score of feasibility of biology module based on RPS with network tree CM is 3.27, which is in the very good category; 3) the biology module based on RPS with network tree CM is effective to empower science process skills as indicated by the N-gain score of 0.58, which is in the moderate category; and 4) the biology module based on RPS with network tree CM is effective to empower evaluation abilities as signified by the N-gain score of 0.30, which is in the moderate category.
