Abstract

Manganese is a metal element found in group VII, has an atomic weight of 54.93u, with a boiling point of 20320˚C, while the melting point is 12470˚C, and has a reddish-gray color. Iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3) or also known as hematite or maghemite iron ore, iron hematite (α – Fe2O3) is a simple oxide which has a hexagonal (rhombohedral) structure and has the R3c space group. Manganese was used as reinforcement in this research, while the matrix used was polystyrene. In this study, 5 variations of pH MnFe2O4/PS, namely 5,6,7,8 and 9 nanocomposites were synthesized using the spin coating method with manganese oxide (MnO2) and iron ore (Fe2O3) precursors. The composite gel is dropped on the glass substrate then the drying process is carried out in an oven. MnFe2O4/PS nanocomposites were characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). giving acid and alkaline solutions affects the size of the crystals, when adding a base (25% Na4OH) the crystal size becomes small while when the acid is added (100% CO3COOH) the crystal size is larger. : pH 8: pH 9 an increase in crystal size and grain size occurs.

Abstract

In the South Coastal Forest area, West Sumatra, a luminous mushroom with the species Neonothopanus Sp. This research was conducted with the aim of seeing the effect of heavy metals on the bioluminescence reaction of luminous mushrooms. Starting from the effect of heavy metal concentrations on the intensity and inhibition coefficient of luminous mushroom biolumination. From the measurement results, the maximum intensity value of luminous mushrooms is 499.6 au occurring at a wavelength of 505 nm. At a wavelength of 505 nm, visible light is produced in green. The results obtained are in accordance with observations, because the light emitted by the glowing mushroom is green. If the concentration of heavy metals is greater, the intensity of the bioluminescent fungus (Neonothopanus sp) will decrease. The type of heavy metal affects the intensity of the fungus biolumination. The greatest decrease in intensity occurred in copper (Cu) and iron (Fe), zinc (Zn) and lead (Pb). If the heavy metal concentration is greater, the inhibition coefficient will be smaller. The greatest inhibition coefficient due to the presence of heavy metals occurs in copper (Cu) then iron (Fe), zinc (Zn) and the smallest is lead (Pb).

Abstract

Student’s understanding that is not in accordance with scientific concepts becomes an obstruction in the process of studying and effect on the result of studying itself. Therefore, an effort is needed to fix and find out the students’ misconception. Therefore, this study aims to identify the level of student’s concept understanding and misconceptions on the material of straight motion at SMAN 11 Padang, SMAN 13 Padang, and SMAN 16 Padang. This study is the descriptive research by using quantitative approach. The instrument used is the Four-Tier Multiple Choice Test with a Certainty of Response Index (CRI) scale. The study population was all students of class X at SMAN 11 Padang, SMAN 13 Padang, and SMAN 16 Padang in the academic year 2021/2022. The simple random sampling technique is used in this study as much as 20% of the total population, so the number of samples in this study was 135 students. The results indicate that the level of student’s concept understanding on the material of straight motion at SMAN 11 Padang, SMAN 13 Padang, and SMAN 16 Padang was in the low category with the level of misconceptions in the medium category. At SMAN 11 Padang the percentage of understanding concepts is 14.1% and misconceptions is 44.9%. At SMAN 13 Padang the percentage of understanding concepts is 13.2% and misconceptions is 47.7%. And at SMAN 16 Padang the percentage of understanding concepts is 12.6% and misconceptions is 55.7%. It can be stated that the level of student’s concept understanding is more dominant in the category of misconceptions in straight motion material.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the banana fiber effect as a polymer composite amplifier with polyester resin matrix on the sound absorption of acoustic materials. Sound Absorber material is made with a variation in the volume of banana fiber that is different from polyester resin. The volume of banana fiber  and polyester resin used  is  15% Fiber:    85%  Polyester Resin,  20%  Fiber:  80%  Polyester Resin, 25% Fiber: 25%  Fiber:    75%   Resin Polyester, 30%  Fiber:    70%  Polyester Resin, 35%  Fiber:    65%  Polyester Resin. So when made composite then the amount of banana fiber used and polyester resin is 100%. Research methods are carried out in the collection of banana fiber, composite manufacturing and testing of sound absorption properties using impedance tubes. The testing of coefficient sound reflection and also sound absorbance coefficient testing is done using sound level meter and signal generator by reference to principle the method of tube impedance via approach to the acoustic box. The banana fiber composite result and polyester resin are able to reflect the sound of highest which is 0.44 in a frequency 500 Hz with fiber 15%. While lowest sound reflection coefficient is 0.06 at a frequency of 8000 Hz and fiber 35%. While in the test the highest value absorbance coefficient that absorbs sound  is  =  0.94 at fiber volume  35%,  and frequency 8000 Hz, while the lowest sound coefficient is 0.56 in fiber 15% and frequency 500 HZ

Abstract

This research is a study on the effect of calcination temperature on microstructure, porosity, and hardness of CaO/SiO2 nanocomposites for bone implants made from natural materials of pensi shells and silica sand. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in calcination temperature on the morphological analysis of structural form, porosity, and hardness of CaO/SiO2 nanocomposites in samples for biomaterials and to determine whether CaO/SiO2 nanocomposites derived from pensi shells and quartz sand are possible to be applied as biomaterials. The results showed that the effect of variations in calcination temperature on the microstructure of bone implant samples was that the higher the calcination temperature would affect the microstructure's shape on the surface of the model where the surface formed was widening, and the grain size was getting smaller. In the porosity, it can be seen that there is diffusion between one grain and another. The grains melt with each other and close the pores from the outside, resulting in compaction at a temperature of 1000°C with a porosity value of 0.005% and the best hardness value of 4.8 kg/mm2.

Abstract

The use of concrete in buildings that indicate direct contact with water such as concrete preparation and roof requires waterproof concrete. The air entering the concrete through the capillary tubes formed during the formation process can be reduced by reducing the diameter of the microcapillary. Fly Ash is an additive that has seeds that are smaller than cement. After the fly ash in the concrete mixture reacts with cement and water, the diameter of the microcapillary formed will be smaller. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of variations in the composition of flying ash on the hydrophobic, absorption, and concrete strength. Variations in the composition of flying ash are 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Based on the test, the percentage of absorption in concrete aged 7 reached an optimal value at 5% percentage of flying ash with a value of 0.363%, whereas in concrete aged 14 days optimal value is obtained at the percentage of flying ash 5% with a value of a 0.5%. The biggest contact angle for the variation of 0% flying ash at the age of 7 days is 128.79⁰ and the lowest value for the variation in flying 15% is 100.41⁰. The highest compressive strength value occurs in the percentage of flying ash at 0% is 30,945 in 7 days of concrete age, and the lowest concrete compressive strength value is the percentage of fly ash at 15%, namely 16.05 MPa for concrete age 14 days
