Abstract

This research aims to develop and validate a four-tier diagnostic test to identify high school students’ misconceptions on periodicity of the elements (FTDT-PE). The six-stage development models applied in this process include: (1) mapping concept;  (2) testing and interviewing; (3) defining students' unscientific ideas; (4) developing the prototype FTDT-PE; (5) validating the prototype; and (6) refining the final FTDT-PE. Two chemistry education experts validated the prototype to assess its content, language, and applicability aspects. A pilot project was conducted to assess the test's validity and reliability. The test's content validity is very high, with an average score of 81.58%. Meanwhile, the pilot project results showed that the difficulty level items are in the moderate range, while the discrimination index and distractor effectiveness are good. The reliabilities of answer (A), reason (R), and both tiers (B) are 0.824, 0.841, and 0.875, respectively, all of which are very high. Overall, the FTDT-PE is valid and reliable and is used to diagnose students' misconceptions. Its implication is that the FTDT-PE can serve as a diagnostic tool that strengthens instructional decision-making and enhances the effectiveness of chemistry learning.

Abstract

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is an epithelial malignancy that is often found in Southeast Asia and is ranked sixth as the most common cancer in Indonesia. This disease is often diagnosed at an advanced stage due to nonspecific initial symptoms. Case Description: A 72-year-old man presented with chronic epistaxis, bilateral nasal obstruction, tinnitus, and bilateral neck node enlargement. Nasoendoscopy revealed a mass obscuring the fossa of Rosenmüller, while a contrast-enhanced CT scan revealed an infiltrative lesion in the nasopharynx extending to the skull base and intracranially with multiple cervical lymphadenopathy. Histopathology revealed nasopharyngeal nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma, stage T4N3Mx. Management and Outcome: The patient was referred for concomitant chemoradiotherapy as standard therapy for advanced stage, with planned follow-up at an oncology center. Discussion: This case highlights the association between smoking and salted fish consumption with the occurrence of NPC and the challenges of early diagnosis due to symptoms resembling chronic rhinitis. Conclusion: Recognizing recurrent epistaxis and painless neck node enlargement is crucial for early detection of NPC. A multidisciplinary approach and integrated chemoradiotherapy play a significant role in improving patient prognosis.

Abstract

The Ar Ridho Foundation is an institution that actively empowers orphans and the poor through educational programs that emphasize equality, inclusivity, and the elimination of social classes. In the context of multicultural Islamic education, efforts to eliminate social classes are an important aspect that is rarely studied in depth, especially at the level of religious institutional practice. This phenomenon is important to study because it shows how Islamic values of human equality, respect for dignity, and empowerment can be realized through structured educational programs. This study aims to analyze the implementation of multicultural Islamic education at the Ar Ridho Foundation and identify educational empowerment strategies used to eliminate social classes between orphans and the poor and children in general. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study, involving in-depth interviews, moderate participant observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions interactively. The results show that the Ar Ridho Foundation implements multicultural Islamic education through a commensurate institutional culture, non-discriminatory social interaction, and educational programs such as tutoring, educational counseling, career guidance counseling, and the provision of technological facilities. These programs have been shown to improve academic ability, self-confidence, and educational opportunities, significantly reducing class barriers. This study recommends expanding educational collaboration, improving learning facilities, and strengthening mentors' capacity as strategic steps to enhance the sustainability of class-based education efforts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limitations of the concept of tolerance in building genuine interfaith relationships. Spiritually and empathetically, tolerance is more passive than active involvement. Because tolerance is often limited to the acceptance of differences. The concept of sacred hospitality in the Abrahamic traditions (Islam, Christianity, Judaism) can serve as a new mindset for creating world peace through interfaith spirituality. This study aims to analyze the concept of sacred hospitality in the three Abrahamic traditions, determine the moral and theological values contained therein, and interpret their relationship to strengthen the ethics of peace between religious communities and universal humanity. This study uses a library research approach with a qualitative descriptive method. Primary data were collected from the Tanakh, the Bible, and the Qur'an, while secondary data were collected from literature related to theology, philosophy, and interfaith studies. The study found that sacred hospitality includes unconditional love, recognition of differences, and self-transforming openness. The concept of hospitality, in this case, goes beyond simply accepting differences, as it provides for active spiritual engagement, balanced dialogue, and recognition of inherent human dignity. It is crucial to incorporate the values of sacred hospitality into interfaith education, interfaith dialogue, and social policies as a concrete step toward creating world peace grounded in spirituality and holistic humanity.
