Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of mentoring-based academic supervision in improving teacher competence at SMPN 2 Tebing, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. The research employed a mixed-methods case study design. In the first phase, a quantitative survey involving 29 teachers was conducted using a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire covering lesson planning, classroom implementation, and learning evaluation. The results show a weighted mean score of 2.94, indicating that teacher competence is in the “Good” category, with the majority of responses at the competent level. However, disparities remain, as a small proportion of teachers demonstrate low performance. In the second phase, qualitative data obtained through written interviews, observations, and document analysis revealed that the effectiveness of supervision was influenced by a collaborative pre-observation dialogue, continuous mentoring, and constructive feedback. These factors reduced teacher anxiety, increased openness, and strengthened motivation for professional growth. The findings confirm that mentoring-based academic supervision contributes significantly to sustainable teacher competence development. Strengthening the instructional leadership role of school principals and institutionalizing mentoring-oriented supervision are therefore recommended to achieve higher levels of professional excellence

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of learning transformation from asynchronous to synchronous modes and its impact on learning effectiveness at SMP Negeri 7 Senayang. A mixed-method approach with an exploratory sequential design was employed, beginning with qualitative exploration followed by quantitative measurement to strengthen the findings. The novelty of this study lies in examining learning management in an archipelagic area with limited technological infrastructure and internet connectivity. The research subjects included the principal, teachers, and educational staff. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis, then analyzed using data reduction, data display, descriptive statistical analysis, and source triangulation to ensure validity. Based on the 2024 School Quality Report, learning quality had declined due to the dominance of asynchronous instruction characterized by low interaction and student engagement. This condition prompted the school to implement a management strategy by shifting to synchronous learning. The findings indicate that synchronous learning significantly improved teacher–student interaction, active participation, engagement, and overall learning effectiveness, while also fostering instructional innovation. These results highlight that successful learning transformation depends not only on technology use but also on adaptive management strategies aligned with local conditions. The study underscores the importance of strengthening synchronous learning management to improve educational quality, particularly in remote and island regions

Abstract

This study investigates collaborative guidance and counseling practices to enhance secondary students’ mental health in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, highlighting the role of local cultural values. Using a qualitative comparative multi-case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving 60 students, 20 counselors, and 8 principals. Cross-case thematic analysis identified three key factors for effective collaboration: integration of cultural and spiritual values, adaptive interprofessional synergy, and participatory school leadership. Cultural constructs such as gotong royong in Indonesia, Kreng Jai in Thailand, and Rukun Negara in Malaysia underpin collaborative practices and support students’ psychological well-being. The study proposes a Cultural-Contextual Collaborative Counseling Model, emphasizing cultural embeddedness as a mediator linking collaboration to mental health outcomes. Findings contribute to culturally responsive counseling theories and inform educational policies that promote cross-cultural guidance practices across the ASEAN region

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines what waqf knowledge and trust influence waqif's intentions to donate to the livestock sector. Extending the Theory of Planned Behavior, this research adopts a quantitative approach. Data was collected through online questionnaires for respondents who had previously donated waqf. This research utilizes Smart-PLS version 4 along with Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling. The findings of this research indicate that subjective norms, attitude toward behavior, trust, and knowledge about waqf significantly affect the intention to perform waqf specifically for the livestock sector. Meanwhile, perceived behavioral control shows the opposite result. In addition, trust and waqf knowledge are the variables with the most significant influence on waqf intentions. This research provides insight to waqf regulators and nazhir who have a particular waqf program for the livestock sector to continue to increase literacy and education about waqf and how it plays a role in maintaining national food security. This research also not only reinforces the importance of the waqf sector but also has implications for the livestock sector concerning sources of financing for breeders and efforts to utilize waqf land as grazing fields
