Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of map media on the spatial thinking of students at MAN 1 Bukittinggi City. The research method used in this research is the Quasi Experiment Method with the research design Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampling was done by Random Sampling technique. The samples in this study were E6 class students as the experimental class who were given thematic map media treatment and E1 class as the control class who were given general map media treatment. Data collection using pretest and posttest instruments in the form of multiple choice that has been tested for validity, reliability. This study found that there was an effect of map media on the spatial thinking ability of Phase E1 and E6 MAN 1 Bukittinggi students with the average posttest of the experimental class of 90 and the control class of 78. Data analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test test from the calculation data obtained a significance level (Sig.) of 0.000 because the significance is smaller than 0.05 (0.000 <0.05), then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

The Sekolah Penggerak Program is a strategic government initiative aimed at transforming the education system through holistic interventions at the school level. However, variations in school contexts and resource readiness have led to differing perceptions regarding its implementation. This study aims to describe geography teachers’ perceptions of the Sekolah Penggerak Program, focusing on aspects of understanding, intervention application, impact, and implementation challenges. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using purposive sampling to select 26 informants from five state senior high schools implementing the program in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that geography teachers have a solid understanding of the program's core components. Dialogical mentoring from facilitators, intensive training, and active participation in learning communities have contributed to enhanced teacher competence and collaboration. A shift in learning paradigms toward more student-centered and active approaches is evident, marked by the use of assessment-based planning, reflective practices, and the integration of technology. Nonetheless, limited infrastructure, administrative workload, and disparities in teacher readiness pose significant implementation challenges. Despite these obstacles, teachers demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous adaptation. These findings highlight the need for responsive education policies and sustained teacher capacity development programs to support the successful transformation of education at the school level.

Abstract

The low interest in learning geography among twelfth-grade students at SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang, particularly in the topic of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), is caused by the conventional learning process, which mainly relies on PowerPoint presentations and lectures. Ideally, GIS learning should emphasize practical activities and the application of concepts. However, limited facilities and infrastructure, such as the availability of computers and teachers’ ability to operate GIS applications, have hindered the optimal implementation of practical learning. To address this issue, this study introduces a solution through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by the Google My Maps application. This web-based application can be accessed via mobile phones, enabling students to experience how GIS works in practice. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the nonequivalent control group design. The findings indicate that students’ learning interest significantly improved when using the PjBL model assisted by Google My Maps in GIS learning. This is supported by the hypothesis testing results, showing a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.006 < 0.05, which means that H₁ is accepted and H₀ is rejected. Therefore, the PjBL model assisted by Google My Maps is proven to be effective in increasing students’ learning interest compared to the conventional learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using technology-enhanced education media on improving students' spatial thinking skills at SMAN 1 Bukit Batu. The research method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of class XI.3 as the control class and class XI.4 as the experimental class, which were randomly selected. Data on spatial thinking were collected through tests and analyzed using a t-test. The results of the study found that there is an effect of technology-enhanced education learning media on the spatial thinking skills of students in class XI.3 at SMAN 1 Bukit Batu, with an average posttest score of 81.00 for the experimental class and 62.81 for the control class.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using spatial exploration media on improving students' spatial thinking skills at SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group research design. The research sample consisted of class XI.4 as the experimental class and class XI.1 as the control class, selected randomly. Spatial thinking data were collected through tests and analyzed using a T-test. The results of the study found that there is an effect of spatial exploration media on the spatial thinking of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 8 Pekanbaru, with the average posttest score of the experimental class being 84, higher than the control class, which was 71.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using geospatial educational technology media on improving the spatial thinking skills of students at SMAN 15 Padang. The research method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample of this study was class XI F10 as the experimental class and class XI F4 as the control class, which were randomly selected. Spatial thinking data were collected through tests and analyzed using t-tests. The results found that geospatial educational technology media influenced the spatial thinking skills of class XI F10 students at SMAN 15 Padang, with an average posttest score of 84.0 for the experimental class and 62.4 for the control class.

Abstract

Village-level development is an essential component of regional planning that emphasizes the sustainable utilization of local potentials. This study aims to assess the level of development across five Nagari in IV Koto Aur Malintang Subdistrict, Padang Pariaman Regency, based on regional potential indicators outlined in the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation No. 12 of 2007. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, the research analyzes secondary data covering natural resources, human resources, institutional capacity, as well as infrastructure and public facilities. Each indicator was scored according to the official village profiling guidelines to categorize the development potential of each Nagari. The results indicate that the highest natural resource potential lies in the plantation and livestock sectors, particularly in Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang Selatan and Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang Utara. Agricultural potential tends to fall within the moderate-to-low range in most Nagari . In terms of human resources, population density and livelihood diversity vary significantly, influencing disparities in development outcomes. Institutional strength and infrastructure availability also differ across Nagari , with some exhibiting limitations in transportation and health facilities. Overall, development potential is categorized into three groups: high potential (Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang Selatan and Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang Timur), medium potential (Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang Utara and Balai Baiak Malai III Koto), and low potential (Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang). The study highlights the importance of adopting a place-based development approach to reduce inter-Nagari disparities. These findings are expected to inform more contextual, targeted, and sustainable village development planning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of nagari development based on natural resource potential in IV Koto Aur Malintang District, Padang Pariaman Regency. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, with all nagari in the district selected as research samples using a saturated sampling technique. The study focuses on natural resource–based development, particularly in the agricultural and plantation sectors, referring to the indicators outlined in Ministry of Home Affairs Regulation No. 12 of 2007. Data were obtained from secondary sources, including official nagari government documents, and supported by primary data collected through field observations. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative techniques through ordinal scale scoring to classify nagari development levels. The results indicate variations in development levels among nagari, influenced by differences in land ownership, plantation area, agricultural productivity, and resource utilization. Nagari with larger productive land areas and higher production levels tend to exhibit better development performance. However, the dominance of intermediary-based marketing systems limits the added value received by local communities. These findings suggest that natural resources play a crucial role in nagari development, but their effectiveness depends on optimal management, institutional strengthening, and sustainable utilization.

Abstract

The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with the Sea Tribe community in Kampung Panglong, Desa Berakit. The results show that the community’s perception of formal education remains low. Formal education is considered less relevant to their tradition as fishermen and does not provide immediate economic benefits, leading many children to drop out of school to help with fishing activities. Factors shaping these perceptions include: (1) limited family economic conditions, with the majority working as fishermen; (2) low parental education levels; (3) traditions and habits that prioritize fishing work; (4) limited educational facilities and infrastructure; and (5) a social environment dominated by mindsets that do not support the importance of education. These findings confirm that the low participation in education among the Sea Tribe community is the result of the interaction of economic, social, cultural, and environmental factors.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu rumah tangga dalam memperkuat ketahanan keluarga melalui sosialisasi pola asuh positif dan manajemen stres. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi analisis kebutuhan, sosialisasi, pembentukan kelompok dukungan ibu, serta pendampingan dan evaluasi pre–post test mengukur pengetahuan dalam pola asuh positif dan manajemen stres . Hasil menunjukkan bahwa sebelum sosialisasi sebagian besar peserta belum memahami pola asuh positif 78% dan sering mengalami stres dalam pengelolaan keluarga 65%. Setelah mengikuti program, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman peserta mengenai pola asuh positif capaian 85%. Kemampuan mengelola stres juga meningkat menjadi 72%. Selain itu, terbentuk kelompok dukungan ibu yang dinilai bermanfaat oleh peserta sebagai ruang berbagi pengalaman dan penguatan sosial. Program pemberdayaan ini dapat meningkatkan kapasitas ibu rumah tangga dan berkontribusi pada penguatan ketahanan keluarga di tingkat nagari.
