Abstract

This study seeks to evaluate how these two independent variables, both individually and interactively, influence students’ academic outcomes. This study aims to analyze the interaction between parental involvement and gender in shaping students’ mathematics achievement and learning motivation at the junior secondary level. A 2×2 factorial non-experimental design was employed involving 261 Indonesian middle school students, which was selected via proportional stratified sampling. Data were collected using three instruments: the Student-Rated Parental School Involvement Questionnaire, the Mathematics Motivation Questionnaire, and students’ midterm exam scores. The dataset was analyzed using MANOVA. The results revealed three key findings. First, a significant interaction effect was found between gender and parental involvement on mathematics achievement (F = 5.476; Sig. = 0.020), with boys receiving partial support performing the lowest. Second, gender had a significant main effect (F = 7.644; Sig. = 0.006), with girls outperforming boys. Third, parental involvement significantly improved students’ motivation (F = 27.037; Sig. = 0.000). These findings highlight the importance of responsive family engagement and suggest the need for gender-sensitive collaboration between families and schools to foster equitable and sustained learning in mathematics.

Abstract

The demands of 21st-century education require learning approaches that foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) is seen as a promising strategy to address these needs, yet its systematic implementation in mathematics learning in Indonesia, especially with local cultural contexts, remains underexplored. This study aimed to investigate how the STEAM approach has been applied in Indonesian mathematics education and how local culture is integrated. A systematic literature review was conducted following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework to ensure transparency and rigor during the identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion phases. The initial search yielded 259 articles from Scopus, ERIC, SINTA, Web of Science, and OpenAlex databases. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria and removing duplicates, 20 articles published between 2014–2024 were analyzed in depth. To identify research trends, a bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer was performed to map keyword co-occurrences. The findings reveal that while the STEAM approach, combined with elements such as local art, traditional games, and architecture, successfully enhances student engagement and contextual learning, its application largely emphasizes procedural rather than conceptual understanding. Moreover, interdisciplinary collaboration and integration of local culture are not yet fully optimized to develop higher-order thinking. This review highlights the need for future studies to strengthen conceptual depth, promote authentic cross-disciplinary learning, and incorporate broader cultural perspectives in designing culturally responsive STEAM-based mathematics education.

Abstract

The movement and fluctuation of the IHSG are one of the references for investors in making investment decisions for buying, selling, or holding share ownership. Forecasting the value of the IHSG can assist investors in making this decision. This study used the fuzzy time series type 2 method to predict the IHSG. This study uses monthly IHSG data for 2017-2021 with 3 variables, namely close prices, high prices, and low prices. In fuzzy time series forecasting, the length of the interval affects the prediction results. This study uses a distribution and average-based method in determining the length of the interval to obtain optimal forecasting results. Based on the calculation of MAPE, the forecasting using average-based and distribution-based interval lengths had errors of 2.56% and 2.46%. The MAPE value shows that the forecasting results from the two methods of taking the length of the interval are very good. The IHSG forecasting results in January 2022 use a distribution-based interval length is 6450 while the IHSG forecasting results in January 2022 use an average-based interval length is 6510. The results of this study indicate that the interval length affects the forecasting results in fuzzy time series. Keywords: IHSG, fuzzy time series type 2, length of the interval, MAPE

Abstract

The length of study is the time needed by students to complete their education, which is calculated from the time they enter school until they graduate. In general, a student is considered to graduate on time if he has studied for no more than four years. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the length of study of students using survival analysis with the Cox Proportional Hazard regression model. This study used data from 146 students who were randomly selected enrolled at Sebelas Maret University, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, batch 2017 and 2018. The research variables consisted of nine predictor variables that were thought to influence student length of study. The nine factors are gender, major, GPA, university entrance, scholarship, part-time work, region of origin, organization, and committee. The results show that the following factors that significantly influence the length of study of students are majors and GPA. The results of this study have important benefits for higher education administrators and policy makers to develop strategies that can help students complete study programs on time.

Abstract

Abstract: Mathematical understanding, particularly algebra, is essential in education. One effort to reduce student errors in learning can be achieved through an in-depth study of the relationship between students' emotional intelligence and the learning process. Emotional intelligence in learning mathematics is the ability to control one's emotions, manage, and express emotions towards others. Emotional intelligence is crucial for understanding the lessons delivered by the teacher. This research aims to investigate the relationship between student errors and the level of emotional intelligence by applying scaffolding to middle school students. The method used in this study is the correlational research method because it aims to determine the relationship between variable X (emotional intelligence) and variable Y (errors). The study population consisted of eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Saradan in the 2022/2023 academic year, distributed in one class with a total of 30 students. From this class, 3 students were randomly selected as samples using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this research were an emotional intelligence questionnaire about mathematics and a mathematics error test on algebra material. The data processing and analysis technique in this study used correlation tests. The results of the correlation test in this study show that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence in mathematics and students' mathematical errors, with a correlation coefficient of 0.887, indicating a strong correlation. Based on these results, the conclusion can be drawn that students with high, moderate, and low emotional intelligence will produce better mathematics learning outcomes with the application of scaffolding. This activity is crucial, especially for teachers to understand students' difficulties and errors, aligning with the teachers' ability to better recognize students' characteristics.         Keywords: emotional quotient, newman’s errors, algebraic arithmetic operations, scaffolding.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i1.pp236-247

Abstract

Indonesia is entering the era of demographic bonus with the productive age dominating the population. Productive age is the main focus of the government in maximizing the demographic dividend, but Indonesia has the highest percentage of Not in employment, education or training (NEET) in Asia. NEET are people on 15 – 24 years old who do other activities outside of school, work or training. This study aims to analyze NEET in Indonesia using panel data with moderate regression analysis. The analysis of multiple linear regression is focused on the relationship between the independent and dependent variables without taking into other possible outcomes. By inserting a moderating variable, this study explores the relationship between the independent and dependent variables differently and aims to strengthen or weaken it. Under certain conditions, the relationship between the independent and dependent variables can be explained by the moderating variable. The research data used were obtained from the employment book and the website of BPS Indonesia, in the form of 34 cross section and 5 years time series data that tends to be stationary. The dependent variable is NEET with 5 independent variables including Human development index, the open unemployment rate, labor force participation rate, proportion of individuals who own phone, and proportion of informal employment. The moderating variable is the proportion of youth aged with ICT skills. The best model in regression analysis panel data is FEM with 4 significant independent variables and 92.75% of R-square. Moderating variable can moderates the relationship of NEET with its independent variables and increased the R-square to 94.19%.
