Abstract

This study aims to explore madrasah public relations strategies for building a positive institutional image grounded in Islamic values in the digital era. This study used a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document and digital content analysis. Data were then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results indicate that digital public relations practices at the madrasah are implemented through a structured communication system utilizing websites and social media as the primary channels. Islamic values, such as tabayyun (references), politeness of language, and publication ethics, are effectively integrated into the process of content planning, verification, and dissemination. This strategy is supported by leadership commitment, a collaborative culture among teachers and students, and adequate digital infrastructure. However, this study also identified several challenges, including limited time for administrators, variations in digital literacy, and the lack of standard procedures for managing public interactions on social media. Overall, this study confirms that integrating Islamic values into digital public relations practices not only strengthens the institution’s image but also increases public trust and credibility in the madrasah.

Abstract

Abstract. Sesanti RN, Purwanto E, Samanhudi, Sudadi. 2025. Effects of nutrient solution and substrate on Limnocharis flava performance in hydroponic systems. Asian J Agric 9: 590-597. Limnocharis flava is a promising aquatic vegetable for substrate-based hydroponic cultivation. However, the optimal combination of nutrient concentrations and substrate types to maximize growth under hydroponic conditions remains unclear. This study evaluated five nutrient solution concentrations (0, 0.8, 1.6, 2.4, and 3.2 dS m-¹) and three substrate types (volcanic sand, rice husk charcoal, and a 1:1 mixture) in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Nutrient concentrations of 0.8 and 1.6 dS m-¹ produced the highest plant height (28.48 cm and 28.20 cm), number of leaves (11.31 and 11.03), shoot dry weight (4.61 g and 4.74 g), root fresh weight (13.20 g and 12.43 g), and root dry weight (0.76 g and 0.74 g). Both lower and higher concentrations inhibited growth, indicating optimal thresholds for nutrient uptake. Chlorophyll a, b, and total chlorophyll contents were similar across the 0.8-3.2 dS m-¹ range, but consistently higher than the control. The leaf greenness index showed a significant interaction between nutrient concentration and substrate type, with the highest value at 2.4 dS m-¹ in the mixed substrate. A nutrient concentration of 1.6 dS m-¹ produced the best overall performance. Based on these results, a combination of 1.6 dS m-¹ nutrient solution and a 1:1 mixture of volcanic sand and rice husk charcoal is recommended for the cultivation of L. flava. These findings establish baseline guidelines for hydroponic cultivation of L. flava and highlight its potential to advance precision hydroponics for indigenous vegetables, thereby contributing to food security and sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Thoracic segmental spinal anesthesia (TSSA) is a regional anesthesia technique that is increasingly used as an alternative to general anesthesia, especially for high-risk patients undergoing abdominal and thoracic surgeries. TSSA offers significant benefits, including better hemodynamic stability and a reduction in postoperative side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and respiratory depression. This technique also provides more optimal pain control and facilitates faster recovery, particularly in terms of postoperative mobilization and gastrointestinal function recovery. However, the use of TSSA requires a deep understanding of the relevant anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to avoid complications such as iatrogenic injury or excessive spread of anesthesia. With the right understanding, TSSA can reduce the need for large volumes of local anesthetics, accelerate recovery, and deliver better outcomes in various surgical procedures. Further development of practice guidelines and research related to TSSA is also necessary to maximize its benefits in improving anesthesia safety and effectiveness in high-risk patients.

Abstract

The management of failed spinal anesthesia is a significant challenge in surgical procedures. Spinal anesthesia failure can occur either partially or totally, often leading to conversion to general anesthesia, which adds clinical risks and potential complications. The aim of this study is to evaluate the factors contributing to spinal anesthesia failure and identify effective management strategies. The study found that factors such as patient positioning, anesthesiologist experience, the number of attempts, and patient BMI significantly influenced spinal block success. Total spinal anesthesia failure often requires conversion to general anesthesia, whereas partial failures can be managed with adjuvant medications or repeated procedures. Understanding the management of failed spinal anesthesia is essential for providing safe and effective care

Abstract

Background: Spinal anesthesia is one of the anesthesia techniques for surgery in various fields, one of which is brachytherapy. Post dural puncture headache (PDPH) is one of the most common complications after spinal anesthesia, one of the risk factors of which is related to the size of the spinal needle usedObjective: To determine the relationship between the incidence of PDPH after spinal anesthesia with Quincke needles with sizes 25G, 26G, and 27GMethods: The design of this study was an experimental study, randomized control trial and primary data collection was carried out on patients undergoing brachytherapy with spinal anesthesia in August-October 2024 until the sample size was met. The research data were tested using the Fisher's exact test and logistic regression. Results: 32 patients underwent brachytherapy with spinal anesthesia, with each group consisting of 44 patients. The highest incidence of PDPH occurred in the group with a 25G needle, namely 10 patients, and in the groups using 26G and 27G needles, there were 2 patients each who experienced PDPH. In multivariate analysis, BMI had a greater influence on the incidence of PDPH than the number of punctures, but there was no significant difference between the two variables. Conclusion: The use of 26G and 27G needles has a lower incidence of PDPH than the use of 25G needles

Abstract

Background: Geriatric patients tend to have more comorbidities accompanied by a decline in physiological and cognitive function, which impacts perioperative outcomes. The combination of physiological dysfunction, especially changes in pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs, leads to several challenges in administering anesthesia. The Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) has been used to predict mortality based on comorbidity assessment. The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) categorizes physiological status to estimate patient health based on anesthesia expert assessment. Increased CCI and ASA scores are known to have significant correlation to increased mortality in geriatric patients undergoing surgery. Objective: To compare the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Physical Status Classification in predicting mortality in geriatric patients undergoing anesthesia at Dr. Sardjito Hospital, YogyakartaMethods: A retrospective observational study was conducted on all geriatric patients undergoing anesthesia procedures in the operating room of Dr. Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta, during the period of February-April 2021. Normality tests were performed using Kolmogorov-Smirnov. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test. A p-value of <0.05 was considered statistically significant. The predictive validity of CCI and ASA scores, as well as the optimal cutoff point for CCI scores, were evaluated using multivariate logistic regression analysis based on discrimination testing by observing the Area Under Curve (AUC) and the Hosmer-Lemeshow calibration test. Results: There was a significant association between CCI scores and mortality (OR 4.589; 95% CI 1.257-16.747; p=0.021). Meanwhile, no significant association was found between ASA and mortality in geriatric patients undergoing anesthesia
