Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki kemampuan siswa dalam menganalisis kalimat sederhana menggunakan Konstituen Langsung atau KL. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami sejauh mana siswa mampu menganalisis kalimat sederhana menggunakan KL dan untuk mengidentifikasi area yang perlu ditingkatkan. Celah penelitian adalah untuk memberikan perhatian lebih pada konstituen langsung dalam kalimat. Metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dan menganalisis hasilnya. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan Google Forms, tetapi karena pandemi COVID sembilan belas, hanya lima belas siswa yang berhasil mengisi formulir. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa mampu menganalisis kalimat sederhana di tingkat kalimat permukaan, tetapi mereka gagal melakukannya di tingkat frasa dalam. Ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki pemahaman dasar tentang diagram pohon linguistik tetapi kurang pemahaman yang lebih dalam tentang konstituensi di antara elemen-elemen di dalam diagram. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa ada kebutuhan untuk instruksi dan latihan lebih lanjut dalam menganalisis kalimat di tingkat frasa menggunakan KL.

Abstract

Automotive youtube video refers to the study of self-propelled automobiles or machines that applies to standard automobiles, sports cars, tractor- trailers, marine automobiles motorcycles, and more. In the millennial era, students not only use youtube to watch but also to enhance their speaking skills. Youtube can be a media for students to study by themselves. Self- study is focuses on the individual's own practice and role in it, as well as exploring deeper to understand motivations, beliefs, and concerns about a specific part of practice. This descriptive qualitative study conducted to find how the implementation of Automotive Youtube video in developing students’ speaking skills. The population of this study was 15 Mechanical Engineering students at 12th grade of SMK Negeri 7 Pontianak as the sample. The instrument used in this study is observation, questionnaire, and interview. Based on the result, students implementations on automotive youtube video wasdifferent each other. This result showed that students have distinctive ways in implementing automotive youtube video as self-study media. It will be useful for the teacher to make learning English better related to their interests.

Abstract

Learning media play an essential role in helping students and teachers achieve educational goals. The use of engaging media can enhance the teaching and learning process. In this context, a spinning wheel was used as a tool to introduce and reinforce vocabulary in elementary school, creating a more interactive learning environment. The study aimed to investigate whether Spinning Wheel Media affected students’ vocabulary mastery, specifically among third-grade students at SDN 64 Sungai Raya. This research is a descriptive-quantitative study that employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test. Data were collected through a pre-test, treatment session, and post-test. The sample comprised 22 students from Class III A at SDN 64 Sungai Raya. Furthermore, the findings of this research indicated a significant improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery after the treatment. The post-test mean score was 90.2, compared to the pre-test mean score of 39.1. The t-test value was 13.19, and the effect size was 2.8, showing a strong effect. The hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, confirming that Spinning Wheel Media effectively enhanced students’ vocabulary, especially in learning the names of the days of the week.

Abstract

Writing is an essential language skill, yet many students struggle to write coherent procedure texts. Although previous studies explored TikTok in teaching writing, few examined its effectiveness for procedure texts. This study aimed to determine whether TikTok features are effective in teaching tenth-grade students at SMAN 11 Pontianak to write procedure texts during the 2024/2025 academic year. Using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design, 33 students were taught using TikTok’s video-sharing and direct-messaging features. The paired sample t-test result (t = 4.19 1.69389, p 0.05) and an effect size of 0.729 (moderate) showed significant difference in students’ writing performance. These findings confirm that TikTok features are effective for students’ ability to write procedure texts.

Abstract

This study explored the use of the Instagram application as a medium to improve reading comprehension among eleventh-grade student at SMA Santun Untan Pontianak. Using a narrative inquiry approach, the research focused on students' experiences with Instagram and its impact on student reading skills. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. Findings indicated that student were initially motivated by curiosity and peer influence. Student’s experiences with Instagram opened up opportunities for creative expression, inspiration, and ultimately improved reading comprehension skills.
