Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect after being vaccinated by OMP 52 kDa Aeromonas hydrophila for 1 week and then infected with Aeromonas hydrophila 10 CFU/mL for 4 days on changes in erythrocyte index. Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) used in this study was 10-12 cm long. There were 20 tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) which were divided into 4 groups, consisting of 2 control groups and 2 treatment groups which were given various types of vaccine formulations. Group P0 (-) (unvaccinated and infected), Group P0 (+) (unvaccinated and infected), group P1 (vaccinated with the whole cell protein "HydroVac®" and infected), and P2 (vaccinated with Outer Membrane Protein 52 kDa and infected) by intramuscular injection. Post-treatment blood samples were collected on day 5 post-infection, collected through a caudal punctie and then analyzed using a hematology analyzer. Post-treatment outcomes led to statistically significant changes (p < 0.05). Therefore, the vaccine caused a significant change in the erythrocyte index.

Abstract

Oral cancer is currently the sixth leading malignancy in the world, with over 330,000 cases resulting in death. Several cytokines and proteins protect the survival of cancer cells, such as TNF-α, HSP27, and IL-10. Moringa oleifera is an herbal medicine with anti-cancer properties. Nanoparticles of M. oleifera have the property to be easily absorbed by water-soluble cells, so only small doses are needed to be used as anti-cancer ingredients. This research aims to prove the ability of M. oleifera nanoparticle extract against oral cancer through the expression of tumour necrosis factor α (TNF-α), heat shock protein (HSP27), and interleukin 10 (IL-10). Rat as non-human experimental subjects were divided into four groups: control group (K), treatment group 1 (P1), treatment group 2 (P2), and treatment group 3 (P3). Cancer induction was carried out by injecting with benzo[a]pyrene, and then M. oleifera nanoparticle extract was administered in three forms of treatment doses of 125 μg/mL (P1), 250 μg/mL (P2), and 500 μg/mL (P3). Immunohistochemical examination was analysed through TNF-α, HSP27, and IL-10’s expression. The expression of TNF-α and HSP27 between control and treatment groups was significantly different. P2 had the lowest expression of TNF-α and HSP27. The expression of IL-10 between control and treatment groups was also significantly different. P1 had the lowest expression of IL-10. M. oleifera nanoparticle extract can reduce oral cancer progression by decreasing the expression of TNF-α, HSP27, and IL-10.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the association of factors such as nutrition, thermal humidity index (THI), age, and lactation period with the occurrence of repeat breeding of dairy cows. The sample consisted of Holstein Friesian cows aged 1-11 years, with lactation periods ranging from 1 to 7 months, currently in lactation, and experiencing repeat breeding (inseminated three or more times without conception, despite exhibiting normal estrous cycles and intervals). The results showed that feeding practices by farmers did not significantly differ (p >0.05) in relation to the incidence of repeat breeding. THI values recorded in several barns also showed no significant differences (p >0.05), with the cows experiencing light to moderate heat stress. Similarly, the frequency of artificial insemination and the estrous cycle intervals remained within the normal range. The highest incidence of repeat breeding was observed in cows aged 2.5 to 5.5 years, accounting for 78.13%, and during lactation periods of 1-3 months, accounting for 81.26%. It can be concluded that there were no significant differences in the provision of forage and leguminous feed between normal cows and those with repeat breeding, and the crude protein content of forage did not influence its occurrence. Additionally, there was no indirect relationship between THI and repeat breeding. However, the incidence of repeat breeding tended to increase in cows aged 3-4 years, and during the second and third lactation periods.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between total protein, albumin, and globulin in the blood with the incidence of repeat breeders in dairy cows. Ten normal cyclic cows and ten repeat breeders cows were taken randomly based on the reproductive records of the Tani Wilis Village Cooperative, Sendang District, Tulungagung Regency. Questionnaire data in the form of farmers' knowledge about dairy cows' reproductive systems and feed treatment is displayed descriptively.  Dairy cows blood samples were taken from the jugular vein 6 mL to measure total protein, albumin, and globulin levels. Data analyzed using the Statistical Product and Service Solution software at a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the total protein, albumin, and globulin levels in normal dairy cows and dairy cows with repeat breeders were not significantly different (p>0.05). However, in normal cyclic cows, most of the total protein, albumin, and globulin levels (80-100% of normal cyclic cows samples) are within the normal range. Meanwhile, the majority of repeat breeder cows (60-70% of the repeat breeder cows) had total protein, albumin, and globulin levels lower than the normal range (p<0.05). It could be concluded that there was a relationship between the incidence of repeat breeder and total protein, albumin, and globulin levels in the blood serum of dairy cows with repeat breeder. Therefore, it is suggested to raise awareness of smallholder farmers about proper feeding and feeding management to reduce repeat breeder cases.
